My lungs feel like they are on fire. Anyone else

I was on here last week saying it was all an over reaction. I am one who usually tries not to panic. And that is what I was thinking. It is not good to panic people. I also thought that it was blown up in the media. Well. Now I am sick myself. So I have learned - it is actually happening. I am scared

I have been ill for three days, chest pains, - heavy breathing. And what is very scary to me - my lungs feel like they are on fire. It is a feeling that I have never felt before. I am really scared. Where I am - I am being told to self isolate. If it gets more serious - I will go in somewhere.

But I am really scared. Does anyone else feel like their lungs are on fire? Is anone else sick

Burning in chest was one of my first symptoms. I also have high temp/fever, headache, dry cough, tight breathing and chills off and on.

I got through to 111 at one point and they said the chest burning was not a Coronavirus symptom, but all others were. They said in normal circumstances they would urge chest pains/burning to go to A&E immediately, but as it stands now to only go if breathing was impaired.

I understand why, of course, but it's still scary to go through this without proper medical assessment. Confused

It sounds like every single person on this thread should be self-isolating for 2 weeks, plus their whole families. Get well soon everyone Flowers

hollieberrie · 17/03/2020 10:58

@HarrietTheShy How long have you been poorly for? I feel the same. Scary. Going to call 111 too.

Sunshine1239 · 17/03/2020 11:00

Please don’t ring 111

They’ve told us not to ring unless deteriorated to point if needing to be in hospital

TakeANote · 17/03/2020 11:02

Unfortunately the NHS isn’t allowing staff to self isolate unless they meet the NHS111 symptoms - which this isn’t.

(Please correct me if I am wrong!)

Yes I got the virus. Going stir crazy right now with staying in the house! I am asthmatic and also COPD. Coughing non stop and that throat feels likes it is swelling and closing up. So so sore right now.

Fingers crossed, we recover from this xxx

longshot · 17/03/2020 11:13

@Lou670 have you actually been tested for Covid-19 or do you mean you have the same symptoms as many of us are speaking of here?

ArthurMorgan · 17/03/2020 11:16

My cough has gone today but my lungs are still hurting so much. Has anyone else got the burning after the cough?

tangledyarn · 17/03/2020 11:18

arthur I've stopped coughing but still have the pressure/burning and short of breath and feel generally rubbish.Am assuming it might go on for a while.

ArthurMorgan · 17/03/2020 11:19

Thanks. Yeah that's what I was thinking. God this whole thing sucks

Orangeblossom78 · 17/03/2020 11:34

See with this are you all generally able to walk about etc ok, I took a steep walk this morning and it was OK. I mean I guess the lungs must be working ok even though in pain etc. I wish there was more guidance on all this stuff

Orangeblossom78 · 17/03/2020 11:35

Also- nose and sinus pain! and eye pain

Orangeblossom78 · 17/03/2020 11:35

In fact that reminds me, I read conjunctivitis can be part of it, as well.

HarrietTheShy · 17/03/2020 11:36

@hollieberrie It's been 5 days for me and still feeling unwell..

alloutoffucks · 17/03/2020 11:37

This site allows you to submit questions about the virus.

Not to minimize the possibility that the "chest burning" sensation is caused by the virus, but don't forget that all the bleach and sanitizer people have been using can really irritate the lungs. I get the feeling my lungs are on fire when I'm exposed to those things.

VENTILATION is really important when you use bleach and other sanitizing products. Those wipes are not healthy.

This is a really good time to stop all air freshener and dryer sheets etc. Go easy on your lungs.

Good luck OP. FYI, we have some asthma in the family, and I have found that sticking your head in the freezer actually does make your lungs feel better. (I'm not a doctor, though, so no idea if that will help you).

kirinm · 17/03/2020 11:42

I've had a cold for ages. It has come on gone for months actually but it is always very much a sore throat, cough (but not dry) and then being bunged up. I am currently feeling a bit light headed. I read some people said a few days before symptoms started they felt fatigued and dizzy. Anyone experiencing something similar?

I generally feel fine even though I have a cold.

clairethewitch70 · 17/03/2020 11:45

Day 13 of similar symptoms here. Work from hone but highly suspect I caught it from an international event at the NEC on 20th Feb

moonbells · 17/03/2020 11:50

Um. I have been trying to stay away from CV threads but I am sort-of glad I read this one.
Last Friday I came home feeling like I'd been clobbered, head slightly achey, felt rubbish. Sat morning woke after 9h asleep with headache still there, felt better after a few hours, but went to bed early and had another 9h fitful sleep. Am anxious anyway and one normal symptom is tight chest and funny breathing. Back was aching a bit too, though put that down to uncomfortable bed. No cough, no throat. Temperature was actually below 36C so I figured it wasn't CV. Then I read upthread that someone's temp was low not high...

Sitting here thinking ohshit. (feel fine...)

Hopefully my handwashing and lack of cough will protect people if it's CV. I'm WFH as of tomorrow anyway... augh!

longshot · 17/03/2020 11:50

It is giving me some comfort to hear so many of us feeling similar (although not enjoyable and I hope we all recover quickly).

I also suspect I caught this a couple of weeks ago at a conference where someone from Turin attended and sat next to me for 2 days who at the time was ill with cold like symptoms. I do not have contact details for her and the day she left the UK Lombardo went into lockdown so I guess it’s quite possible she could have been ill.

It is frustrating not to be able to get tested isn’t it!

peanutbear · 17/03/2020 11:50

I have exactly the same pain in chest, my back hurts and headache.
No cough or temperature but I'm very cold.

tangledyarn · 17/03/2020 11:50

Yeah mines been going on about 12 days but has been worst in last week..started with a sore throat/cough which was on and off for a few days.
Defo no excess cleaning products her Blush But think my asthma is playing a part for sure, spoke to a dr about asthma this morning and offered some prednisone but am going to try to hold off as think I'm getting better and not long had a course for something else and had a steroid injection a month ago.

Orangeblossom78 · 17/03/2020 11:52

Oh also, nausea, I saw another PP who has been diagnosed mention she had this at start of symptoms. I had this and keeps coming and going.

moonbells · 17/03/2020 12:03

Oh blast, I felt terribly sick on Friday/Saturday too. And I'll never know... though neither DH or DS have any symptoms at all of anything, so here's hoping it's a combo of anxiety and my usual GERD.

hollieberrie · 17/03/2020 12:09

What day is everyone on? I'm hoping it doesn't last tooooo long. I'm on day 5 too @HarrietTheShy

@clairethewitch70 13 days??? Are you on the mend at all yet? Get well soon
