Think would be good to keep this thread going! Will link to the previous threads in a bit.

Gypsy yes my catalogue was free, I just requested it on their website. I love a paper catalogue!

Good luck with your garden, definitely check out the gardening board - loads of good advice on there as Booseys said.

Our garden was a complete mess about a year ago when we first moved into our house. We basically dug it all up and now we just have a basic lawn and borders so I'm pretty much starting from scratch this spring (planted some shrubs in autumn).

Today I put in some plants that I grew from cuttings from stuff in our old garden. So I've only waited a year to actually plant them out!!

Two of the cuttings are from plants given to me by my mum, and one from our old NDN, so it's lovely to keep them going in our new house.

Bunnyflop · 23/03/2020 06:05

@PrivateSpidey I would love to know how to do cuttings! And taking seeds from old sweet peas etc to grow new ones.

Bouncingbomb · 23/03/2020 07:05

Morning all, first proper home bound day for me. Argos are coming between 7am and 10am with an outdoor storage box and some printer cartridges.

I have told myself that I will get up, showered, dressed, minimal make up I usually wear for work and I have even put my diamond earrings in Shock, hardly important but I think it sort of resembles 'normal' even if our lives have changed dramatically.

Lovely day outside, sun is shining although its -2.

I amended my Ocado order last night to include a bottle of whisky and a bottle of brandy, I don't drink either normally but I had a bit of a sore throat on Saturday night and had a miniature bottle of brandy for cooking. I drank it and my throat felt fine yesterday. Easier to buy than buttercup syrup!!

Noooblerooble · 23/03/2020 07:13

Morning all!

I'm making a commitment today to stay away from my phone and be productive. I got sucked into reading some threads yesterday that tipped me into a bad place (despite them being full of peoples' anxieties rather than facts). Is anyone reading a good book at the moment?

My friend is sending me some flower seeds in the post and I have some veg ones. Pottering in the garden helps so much doesn't it? I was late planting sweet peas so am watching my pots daily for signs of life. I've never actually had much luck with sweet peas so this is my year I think. I'm normally too busy to attend to them much and things go too long without water etc.

thereplycamefromanchorage · 23/03/2020 07:53

Bouncing, I am going to do the same - will get dressed and showered for work as usual, and put on makeup even though I will be at home. Have talked with the kids about them not sleeping in during the week - I think it's really important everyone keeps to some kind of routine.

MrsLangOnionsMcWeetabix · 23/03/2020 08:01

Morning all,

Positive article from a Nobel laureate here www.latimes.com/science/story/2020-03-22/coronavirus-outbreak-nobel-laureate

Looks like another nice day here, going to attempt some ‘education’ in a bit. Thinking we’ll pick a topic that interests us (possibly the Jacobite rebellions as we live near a few battlefields) and take it from there. Also debating attempting to learn a bit of Gaelic.

Chins up everyone, once more into the breach etc etc...

CaveMum · 23/03/2020 08:18

Good morning all, I was just coming in to post that article from the LA Times that @MrsLang has just shared - a positive news story.

I have to go to work today - I’m office based, with 3 colleagues. My boss has put us on a rota so there are never more than 2 of us in the office at any one time and we all sit in separate small rooms anyway so social distancing is easy. We have an office car park so I can go from my house, to car, to office without seeing another person. I suspect in the next week or so we will all be WFH full-time anyway.

peachgreen · 23/03/2020 08:21

Morning all - have been off social media for the weekend so just catching up with the thread. Thanks as always for the positivity. DH, DD and I enter 12 weeks of quarantine today as both DH and I are on the list of underlying conditions. Hoping to be able to get priority delivery from Sainsburys as we have no local friends or family to pick up shopping. On the bright side we got more done in the garden this weekend than we managed for the entirety of last spring!

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 23/03/2020 08:31

Good morning. It’s cold but dry here, (NI). I done washing out on the line last night. They’re only dog blankets, so the spider willies can have at them. 🕷 🍆 Grin

The very last of my holiday dogs go home and for the first time in nearly ten years I have an empty dog diary. Sad However! That also means I can actually scrub the place, rearrange stuff and have breakfast, without tripping, getting slavers on my clothes or going right off my food when one of them farts. They really do pick their moments and I swear something has crawled up the girl dog’s ass and died! I’ve never smelt anything like it!

ScarlettDarling · 23/03/2020 08:42

Here's my positive news for today, the new BBC adaptation of Malory Towers is available on iPlayer from today! Dd and I are very excited!

tobee · 23/03/2020 08:58

I'm thinking of listening to a meditation guidance in a few minutes! (Tough life) And then get out some text books that I've been meaning to look at for some home study.

YakkityYakYakYak · 23/03/2020 09:15

@MrsLangOnionsMcWeetabix thanks for sharing that article. It’s great to read something hopeful (and credible!)

And thanks all for this thread generally, I’ve only just discovered it and am in desperate need of it. All of the panic on social media has caused me to spiral into despair and lose all perspective! But I’m determined to take better care of my mental health this week and stay away from unhelpful scaremongering.

Bouncingbomb · 23/03/2020 09:17

I cant wait Scarlett. I am planning on binge watching.

Spudlet · 23/03/2020 09:18

@T0tallyFuckedUpFamily Arrrgh, spider willies! 🕷

Went for a run from home this morning, my legs felt like lead 😳 I think it was all the digging and weeding yesterday. Saw another runner in the (rapidly increasing, she clearly hadn’t been weeding) distance which is unusual - I guess more of my neighbours are at home than usual. Feeling very grateful to have such a nice place to run straight from my home, even if I do love the forest more.

Now just lying on the floor recovering not from running, but from wrestling an order out of the Boots website. Managed to order my cleanser though! So hopefully I won’t end up too spotty just yet. I’m not wearing any makeup at the moment either so my skin might thank me for this.

About to get super ambitious and try an Epsom Salts bath with DS on the other side of the bathroom with the iPad... wish us all luck. I’ve also set a curfew on my phone today, so no internet after a certain time for me, and I’ve set a daily time limit on the BBC app and Facebook. Hoping this will help.

magimedi · 23/03/2020 09:21

@MrsLangOnionsMcWeetabix

You have helped me so much by shraing that article - I was getting very gloomy.

Off for a walk in the sunshine - but the wind is freezing!

Jrobhatch29 · 23/03/2020 09:25

Hi all. Im in a group chat with nursery parents and the nursery teacher is in the group too. She reports her husband went to cheltenham races Hmm and soon came down with fever, cough and aches and pains... But said he was ok in himself. Their daughter quickly followed with same symptoms but is now much better. She now said her brother in law is the same, they had visited before isolating. Obviously no way to confirm but with link to cheltenham races it seems likely. Anyway just thought it might help people as they have had mild illness x

Millie2013 · 23/03/2020 09:48

A fair few Cheltenham attendees have had symptoms apparently, v his to hear of the mild cases ❤️

I’ve sorted the ponies, came back to find DD and my mum doing The Joe Wicks PE lesson
Heading out shortly to the farm shpp, as we and the next door neighbours (isolating) need veg/eggs

Then I’ll take DD for some fresh air this afternoon, it’s possible to walk for miles round here and hardly see a soul

Zoidbergonthehalfshell · 23/03/2020 10:07

@MrsLangOnionsMcWeetabix (great name btw!), another vote of thanks for that link! There was another link within the article about coping with the constant barrage of accurate and inaccurate news online - it's here if you want to read it.

www.latimes.com/science/story/2020-03-11/how-to-stop-stressing-about-coronavirus

It's a beautiful day here again - cold, but sunny, with a clear blue sky. I've been out with Zoiddog and her precious ball, and there were several other dog walkers out and about too, which was nice to see.

I might try and give the lawn another haircut later, and fill the birdfeeders again - I swear they eat more than we do!

Hope everyone has a nice day Smile

Bunnyflop · 23/03/2020 10:07

Morning all

Very positive LA Times article!

Had a crap painful night due to restless legs and then had to go to Sainsbury’s at 7am as we had run out of stuff- so to cheer us up a bit I bought the brightest bunch of flowers I could find and a big box of chocolates. I just ate one and am now having some peace and quiet in bed with the sun streaming in while ds is busy with dh. Pic of flowers attached to spread some cheer. If anyone knows me and recognises my house- hiiii!

Morning I really like reading people’s updates it’s like a ray of sunshine

We are lucky as in semi-rural South East. It’s cold but bright. DD (5) and I were out at 8am birdwatching and saw a beautiful pair of long-tailed tits amongst other exciting feathered friends

Alsohuman · 23/03/2020 10:32

Glorious morning here, made even better by the L A Times piece, thank you so much for sharing that.

My son’s self employed and his finances are always a bit fragile, at least he can continue to work but selling it is the issue now. He’s a great reader so I’m sending him a book a week as a mental health aid, this week’s is Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. Our current email conversation is called Jailhouse Blues!

The flowers are beautiful Bunnyflop. Here’s my mothers’ day bunch.

I’m half considering taking the go-pro next time I take ddog for a walk and putting the video online. We’re lucky to live where we do, and I thought it might help people stuck inside. Bit scared of being shouted at for being outdoors though (although it’s so quiet where we live you rarely see a soul). And don’t want it to come across as a bit braggy or gloaty? So just thinking about it for the time being.

mbosnz · 23/03/2020 10:56

We've got the doors flung wide open, and the fresh air really does help us all feel a lot less cooped up. It's a beautiful day!

AutumnRose1 · 23/03/2020 11:12

Thanks for the LA Times article, that’s good to know.

Lovely day here again. Think I saw a goldfinch in the garden.

SummerHouse · 23/03/2020 11:44

Hi team.
We just made shortbread and managed not to seriously injure ourselves doing Jo wicks live stream!
Heads up everyone.
