Think would be good to keep this thread going! Will link to the previous threads in a bit.

@Metagoth I feel the same as you. When I heard the news of possible 12-18 months worth of social distancing I felt sick. I rely heavily on peer support groups for my mental health and also baby/toddler groups too.
Not to mention no visits from my parents or to them either. I really don’t know if I’ll be able to cope with it for that long. I might end up having a serious breakdown. Sorry for the unposiyuve post.

Alsohuman · 20/03/2020 21:00

Baby steps. It could be better in three months, focus on that and see what happens. A huge amount can change in 12 weeks as we’ve just seen.

Eebahgumlass · 20/03/2020 21:09

Hello I've been away a while as struggling a bit. Also on intensive puppy duties. He is a peeing machine. Will check in more and try to share positivity where I can.

notmyhusbandsproperty · 20/03/2020 21:28

For the love of God don’t read sky news! They did an article from inside an Italian hospital. “People gasping for breath” with a photo of a patient clearly on his phone. Scaremongering??

purpleme12 · 20/03/2020 21:43

@SpongeCake23 yes that's what I was thinking.

bingowingsmcgee · 20/03/2020 21:50

Lots of love to everyone here, on what is definitely the best mumsnet thread at present. Thanks for all the voices of reason and calm. I bet we would have had far less hysteria about a situation like this pre-social media, but glad we've got this happy place. I've done lots of cooking today, copying YouTube tutorials, and have felt quite the domestic goddess. I'm finding it an utter revelation to have 'no place to go', and wonderful to scale the superficial social contact right back, to be honest. Maybe I'm an introvert and I never knew.

purpleme12 · 20/03/2020 21:51

I'm just finding it really hard by myself

gingerbreadslice · 20/03/2020 22:06

Does anyone else have this atm it's really weird I feel very drained and tired and having to have day time naps to cope, my left side of the body feels all achy and it feels pressured under my left side of the ribs. My dad has the same and so does my friend it's so bizarre. Came on in the last few days Confused

He had obviously been told that a Martian had landed in his back yard at home and offered to give us world peace and as many smarties as anyone wanted.

It fair took his breath away.

Tartan333 · 20/03/2020 22:25

notmyhusbandsproperty, please keep it positive, that's awful and not done much for my very high anxiety levels. I know these terrible things are happening to people and I am so sorry that they are but this is a place for positivity.

Tartan333 · 20/03/2020 22:29

Sorry just re read your post and realised the point of it! It's because I am so on edge.

A close friend of mine has a friend who lives in China and has said that life is gradually getting back to normal now

notmyhusbandsproperty · 20/03/2020 22:29

Tartan333. That’s my point. Don’t believe everything you read.

notmyhusbandsproperty · 20/03/2020 22:30

Tartan, I know how you feel. Big hugs. This will pass xxxxxx

Metagoth · 20/03/2020 22:31

Just had a big Skype session with friends and me and my partner in different rooms skyping friends. Lifted my spirits so much to know we might get through this. Also saw an article how nightclubs and pubs are opening in Shanghai after a month and all that has made me feel so positive. We've agreed skype drinking chats once a week. I seriously can't recommend things like this enough

Tartan333 · 20/03/2020 22:35

notmyhusband, thank you xxx

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 20/03/2020 22:38

@tartan333 that’s good to hear things seem to be resetting a bit in China. I know China is so different from the West culturally but what are the examples of life returning to normal if that makes sense?

(Sorry for the third degree DESPERATE for good news right now).

HouseElfy · 20/03/2020 22:39

Complete pit of darkness tonight. Desperate for some good news.

Jenasaurus · 20/03/2020 22:44

good news, finally got my results back

My positive news.. walked the dog with toddler and husband early this morning... lovely and sunny, also took DC for bike ride as he's learning the pedals and coming on well.
I smiled (at a distance Wink) to anyone we did see and said morning / afternoon and everyone returned it, do feel like ppl want to be kind to each other in real life if you avoid the scaremongering stories.
This will pass as long as we keep a distance to avoid the spread but getting some fresh air if you are well will do the world of good Smile

magimedi · 20/03/2020 22:54

@gingerbreadslice

Both DH & I & many friends I've talked to (we are all 63+) have said how very tired we feel, despite a good nights sleep - honestly I think it's a normal reaction to all of this stress & worry. Nap in the day if you need to (& can) & just think that these are unusual times.

My dear dad was a doctor & he always said that 'sleep was better than any medicine' - he really believed in the healing powers of good sleep & I am quite sure he was right.

We are all living through a very new & worrying time so I don't think it is odd that our bodies/brains want a bit more of extra shut down time.

purpleme12 · 20/03/2020 22:59

I have thought of a positive thing I saw the cutest dog at work today that made me happy

Callybrid · 20/03/2020 23:06

I think magimedi’s right re sleep and stress. I’m certainly more tired at the moment. Not helped by staying up late on long WhatsApp threads! (Ironically for me as a sahm this situation is meaning I have far more communication with people at the moment than I ever did before).

People, we have got through another day. Let’s celebrate that and just keep taking it step by step. Sleep well all.

HonestlyItsFine · 20/03/2020 23:07

HouseElfy I'm the same- desperate for any piece of hope or positive news.
There is a Reddit thread where people are posting all the good news they come across: www.reddit.com/r/Anxiety/comments/fj2y1a/lets_post_good_news_on_the_coronavirus_here/?sort=new

All kinds of positives there!

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 21/03/2020 00:18

Feeling desperately sad that my local pub closed tonight. It's the centre of our community. But I know it's the right thing to do. Having a dark night. Sorry.

Bouncingbomb · 21/03/2020 06:21

Anyone got anything nice planned today?

I am now on 12 weeks isolation. Things for today ... make a carrot cake and carrot soup, Ocado turned up with the biggest bag of carrots I have ever seen two weeks ago and I need to use them up(obvs I must have ordered the wrong thing).

Assemble my new bbq! Get wrapped up and use it 😎.

Did anyone see Miranda on BBC1 last night. Nice to see the BBC getting into the swing of cheer.
