Think would be good to keep this thread going! Will link to the previous threads in a bit.

I’m planning on doing a load of batch cooking and a stock take. I think beans may be at the top of my list of plentiful. This house is going to need some serious airing out at the end of 12 weeks. Grin

I thought I might walk the dogs, but the weather sounds horrible, from where I’m lying under my quilt.

Riv12345 · 21/03/2020 06:33

I come on hear as I'm now starting a 12 hour shift at my nearby hospital, feeling abit anxious.

This is my safe place.

Then I read a thread about people gasping for breath.
I thought I was safe to come on here!!

I'm sorry to say I dnt need to read that, I will not be coming on here anymore I thought I was safe but obviously not.
Wish you all the best.
But I'm out of here now!!!

Spudlet · 21/03/2020 06:39

@Riv12345 Don’t go! The point of the post was that the news was describing someone as ‘gasping’ when they were actually on their phone - so clearly not gasping that badly then! It was about media scaremongering.

Bouncingbomb · 21/03/2020 06:44

Where are you Totally, it’s lovely here in North Yorkshire.

Millie2013 · 21/03/2020 06:47

We’re heading out for a walk too (with a drink and snack) ❤️

Spudlet · 21/03/2020 06:50

I’m going for a run this morning, then this afternoon DH is going to see his dad and they’ll go for a walk while remaining 2m apart as his dad is social distancing due to his age.

Tomorrow I think we’re going to get out on the garden.

Good morning positive thinkers! I'm usually a lurker and have been following this thread from the very beginning and it has helped me so much. I just wanted to say thank you so much to everyone who has posted positive things.

This week has been so hard and I've been in tears every evening, life has certainly changed very much in such a short space of time. I'm trying to remind myself of that and be kind to myself. I have to keep it together during the day because I have young children but it probably helps that I have to carry on and not show them I'm worried.

My husband has just gone to brave the supermarket, one of my main worries is about being able to get food, he said the queue to get in was down the road! Hopefully he will be able to get some things though.

Anyway, my positive thing for today is that we are all going to the beach to get some air (probably a decent blow about) and throw some pebbles in (no sand sadly!). The sun is shining so I'm looking forward to it, I'm thinking we should take the kite for the boys to fly too and they'll love that.

I found this story on the BBC news website that I thought was comforting, it's about how the numbers of potential deaths may be being overinflated.

Love and positive vibes to all Star

Pinkarsedfly · 21/03/2020 07:30

I was going to link to that , Conrad.

The most positive thing I’ve read on the BBC website for weeks.

tobee · 21/03/2020 07:45

Morning all!

Had my first night with my new custom made mouth guard - tooth grinder here - it made such a difference with the fit and was actually wearable!

Slightly self indulgent positive post! Grin

HouseElfy · 21/03/2020 08:13

I wouldn't dare say this on the main thread but is anyone still seeing close family provided they're low risk and symptomless?

Robin233 · 21/03/2020 08:20

Was at the supermarket for 7.
Not as busy this morning.
Back home having a drink then off out for a walk in this glorious
Sun shine.
House work / finished painting.

Dh will be home at lunch time after work so it will cuddle and film time :)

Spudlet · 21/03/2020 08:21

Most of our families are too far away to visits casually, it’s an overnight trip or nothing. So we won’t be seeing any of them. However DH is going to see his dad later today although his dad is in the age group to be self isolating. They’ll go for a walk together. His dad has been suffering terribly with his mental health all winter and lives alone since he was widowed a few years ago, so the benefits of a visit outweigh the risks, in our opinion.

Asgoodasarest · 21/03/2020 08:24

My husband is at the supermarket now. No queue to park and he says it’s pretty well stocked and is getting through the list without much trouble.
Just thought I’d share as I know the lack of items on shelves as been scary for me this week.
Hopefully the new measures are starting to have an impact and people will calm down a bit on the buying.

ScarlettDarling · 21/03/2020 08:29

@HouseElfy I'm having a real dilemma about that. My mum is 72 and should be isolating but is at the supermarket this morning and insisting we go round for Mother's Day lunch tomorrow. She really couldn't cope with 12 weeks in the house on her own and I'm thinking I might be able to persuade her to stop going to the shops if we will still pop round and visit. So what to do for the best? To be honest this is the issue that's stressing me out more than anything else.

HouseElfy · 21/03/2020 08:33

I think I might go out for a walk with my mum, keeping our distance. She is 54 and has no underlying conditions.

DaffodilThatch · 21/03/2020 08:34

Morning! Thanks for the BBC link, interesting.

We have a supermarket delivery arriving this morning, and we were thinking about tipping the driver - would that be weird? I'm not sure whether they would want to handle cash. Was going to put it in an envelope with a card saying 'Thank you' - currently being decorated by the 3 year old.

I feel the same.

Asgoodasarest · 21/03/2020 08:38

@DaffodilThatch I’m sure they’d be thrilled. I always tip at Xmas and it’s always gratefully received. I don’t think we can tell people that are working through this enough, just how appreciated they are.

DaffodilThatch · 21/03/2020 08:41

Thank you @Asgoodasarest. Yes I agree with you. A friend in Belgium told me that every evening at 8pm her street bursts into applause to say thanks to the healthcare workers. She says it's very moving.

Where are you Totally, it’s lovely here in North Yorkshire.

A small town near Belfast

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 21/03/2020 09:16

Ohh! One of my clients has text to say she’s insisting on paying me a retailer, because she’s still going to be getting paid. I’m a dog sitter and my business has been decimated by this. I’be now put in a claim for financial help. However, on the plus side that’s the second client to insist, so that’s just wanted the cockles of my heart. 🥰

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 21/03/2020 09:20

....warmed the cockles of my heart. You can’t have them, even if you ‘want’ them. Grin

Callybrid · 21/03/2020 09:22

I agree that’s a lovely idea daffodilthatch. I am looking at supermarket workers in a completely new light at the moment - last time I went I just thought ‘thank goodness you’re here’ every time I saw one.

So many people keeping things going in their own ways and being part of the whole.

My plans for today are just lots of washing! Also possibly a drive to a nearby beach for a walk...

Alsohuman · 21/03/2020 09:25

Such a glorious morning here, the back door’s standing open. Just read that dolphins have returned to Italy’s waterways. The speed at which the planet’s healing itself in the absence of ongoing pollution is astounding. Maybe this is our wake up call. It would be great if something good came of it.

MrsLangOnionsMcWeetabix · 21/03/2020 09:27

Morning all,

Some positive news from me: the two children in DS’s class who were off with suspected CV are recovering well as are two other people I know.

I have made DS a snack box for the day after seeing the idea online so hopefully that will save me from the endless snack requests. We will be tidying his playroom later - send me strength please Smile
