Think would be good to keep this thread going! Will link to the previous threads in a bit.

Does anyone know how to stop mumsnet sending me the 'there has been a new post on this thread' emails? I'm not going anywhere, I'd just prefer to check in when I feel like it without getting 20 emails a day!

Weather looks good for the weekend. Hope everyone manages to get outside at some point. We've got bulbs to plant.

Spudlet · 20/03/2020 16:57

So if you’re on mobile, you need to scroll right down the page and at the very bottom there is a link for the desktop site. Then go back up and you should see that next to the ‘Talk’ heading, there is a little arrow for a drop-down menu. Click that and select ‘Customise’, and you will get the screenshotted screen, and can check only uncheck the appropriate ones for email. Then scroll back down to the bottom to get the mobile site back.

Just read this and thought of you all.

I love this ❤

It was March 2020 ...
The streets were empty, the shops closed, people couldn't get out.
But spring did not know, and the flowers began to bloom, the sun shone, the birds sang, the swallows would soon arrive, the sky was blue, the morning arrived early.

It was March 2020 ...
Young people had to study online, and find occupations at home, people could no longer go shopping, or go to the hairdresser. Soon there would be no more room in hospitals, and people continued to get sick.
But spring did not know, the time to go to the garden arrived, the grass greened.

It was March 2020 ...
People have been put in lockdown. to protect grandparents, families and children. No more meetings or meals, family celebrations. The fear became real and the days were therefore similar.

But spring did not know, apples, cherry trees and others bloomed, the leaves grew.

People started reading, playing with their families, learning a language, singing on the balcony inviting neighbors to do the same, being supportive and focusing on other values.

People realized the importance of health, of suffering, of this world that had stopped, of the economy that has plummeted.

But spring didn't know. the flowers gave way to the fruit, the birds made their nest, the swallows had arrived.

Then the day of liberation came, people found out on TV, the virus had lost, people took to the streets, sang, cried, kissed their neighbors, without masks or gloves.

And that's when summer came, because spring didn't know. He continued to be there despite everything, despite the virus, fear and death. Because spring didn't know, he taught people the power of life.

Cheers @Spudlet

magimedi · 20/03/2020 17:38

@Spudlet Is a Star. Her advice about naming your anxiety has really, really helped me.

HonestlyItsFine · 20/03/2020 17:50

I'm currently in a queue to get onto the milk and more website to order some bread and milk etc. Number 51801!
I guess it's job security for milkmen!

Bloodybackpain · 20/03/2020 18:03

Hmm so all cafes, restaurants, pubs and gyms to shut. My positives from that ...
It’s for the best in terms of virus spread (appreciate its not though for staff and business owners)
I’m really happy I went for a great swim today and did those extra 10 lengths
Takeaway still allowed (it’s very trite but I do love coffee shop coffee, it’s the small things that get you through isn’t it?)

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 20/03/2020 18:30

My positive from that is that if they are ordered to shut, they will probably get some compensation to help them survive so that they can open again when it is over. If they closed in a public-spirited and voluntary way they would get none. So that is definitely good.

AutumnRose1 · 20/03/2020 18:37

Alsohuman don’t encourage kissing strangers at any time, please 😂

Noooblerooble · 20/03/2020 18:39

This thread is helping me so much.

My dear friend who likely has cv is doing well. She is only very mildly ill. Her 8 year old son has felt very ill with it but thankfully is definitely on the mend and bouncing around. In fact all the people I know who have had the virus are doing fine. I keep remembering how all these mild cases won't be covered in the news but they are by far the majority.

I also keep saying to myself, this is finite. There is going to be a point where everything is better. We just need to ride the difficult bits out. I have marked 12 weeks from now in my diary so I have a point to get to mentally. We will be past the peak by then and going the same way as China 🤞

I have been really appreciating going out running this week. Everything is more bittersweet

Oh and I've dipped into some of the other threads. They are littered with factually inaccurate stuff and people getting carried away by their anxiety. They really aren't worth reading because not everything in them is true, however serious this situation is. Flowers

foxessocks · 20/03/2020 18:52

Excellent post noooble thank you Smile

dappledsunshine · 20/03/2020 18:53

Beautiful @alsohuman thank you 😊

tobee · 20/03/2020 19:01

Thinking about previous posters on here saying they might leave Mumsnet after this I have to say that would an absolute travesty. We need people like you lot. More and more people like you lot! Not less!

HonestlyItsFine · 20/03/2020 19:01

Noooblerooble I have reported/called a few people out in other threads for blatant fear mongering. So glad this thread exists.

Some good news from France:

www.tasnimnews.com/en/news/2020/03/18/2226098/french-researcher-posts-successful-covid-19-drug-trial

Science will get there.

foxessocks · 20/03/2020 19:02

Facebook isn't much better for scaremongering I've found...also the BBC news has been annoying me sometimes too!

StCharlotte · 20/03/2020 19:22

HonestlyItsFine

I just left a note in an empty milk bottle for Milk & More like the olden days. It worked Smile

Spudlet · 20/03/2020 19:30

@magimedi I’m glad it helps. It’s a technique I learned when I had a nasty patch of anxiety and insomnia last year. Was using it again last night when I was fretting about going to the shops!

@M0reGinPlease No problem Smile

We are going to get there guys, we are going to come through. 👍

KTD27 · 20/03/2020 19:48

Hello!
Some positivity from me. My DS turned 4 today. I was quite upset about everything being cancelled but he’s had the BEST day. Our friends have rallied round dropped amazing treats at the door (we are self isolating due to HFAM in my DD) I feel very lucky and grateful and so so proud of my amazing boy.

Noooblerooble · 20/03/2020 20:01

That's lovely! Happy birthday to him

Robin233 · 20/03/2020 20:10

@alsohuman
Very good :)

Alsohuman · 20/03/2020 20:21

Happy birthday, Master KT 🍰

chilling19 · 20/03/2020 20:21

Also positive is the community response. Most people are lovely. I think this is bringing people together in the best way, as we can see from this thread.

Spudlet · 20/03/2020 20:27

Happy birthday, small KT!

I have a positive - it’s the vernal equinox in the northern hemisphere today. First day of spring!
