Think would be good to keep this thread going! Will link to the previous threads in a bit.

@spudlet Thank you ! I think it will save my sanity !

TheChampagneGalop · 20/03/2020 12:17

Positive news from me: A couple of days ago I wrote on this thread that I was ill and worried about being infected with the virus. Today I feel much better, so whatever I had was mild!
I'm looking forward to go outside again soon.

Spudlet · 20/03/2020 12:20

@TheChampagneGalop excellent news!

Spacecadetagain · 20/03/2020 12:21

Great news @TheChampagneGalop I think there are some other crappy viruses doing the rounds at the mo which we’ve all forgotten about !

Siameasy · 20/03/2020 13:06

Thanks for the appreciation of my cat. Here she is wrapped up 😂 I do find pets comforting at this time. I’m ok and not anxious but it’s more like this urge to find new information is really affecting my concentration. I was reading a book last night and I realised I’d turned three pages without actually any of it going in

Ducks are greedy and noisy buggers

mzysdm · 20/03/2020 13:11

Hey everyone. I’m here to tell you about Rock the Tots.

They are a Cotswolds based children’s and parent’s entertainment business who, just like you, have experienced huge changes due to Covid-19.
For safety reasons, they have cancelled all their gigs, but they ARE doing livestreams, from their home, to keep everybody singing!

www.facebook.com/rockthetots/

You can see the most recent livestream in the post dated 19th March.

I will allow the awesomeness to speak [or sing] for itself. I hope this helps to brighten up a hard situation.

The next episode will air next Thursday, all the details can be found on their page.

@TheChampagneGalop - that is so great to hear - I’m glad for you but I needed that reminder too!. I’ve been feeling just sub-par for the last few days - a bit sinus-y, headache-y and just drained. Get this often with first day of period but as the time’s gone on, even though I know these aren’t cv symptoms and there are also plenty of other cough/cold bugs it’s just made me that little bit more jumpy.

Love the ducks! (And all the other animals upthread)

M0reGinPlease · 20/03/2020 13:43

Anyone noticed that people are generally being a bit friendlier and smiling at each other more?

Also, we live by the coast and the amount of people who all of a sudden go out for a 'breath of fresh air' is hilarious and brilliant. My elderly mum just called me from the prom to say they couldn't get a parking spot 😂

magimedi · 20/03/2020 13:46

@AutumnRose1

Re iplayer - would your Mum like Hustle? It's very silly but well acted about a group of con artists. An dit has the wonderful Robert Vaughn in it! It's on the boxed set list.

AutumnRose1 · 20/03/2020 14:01

Magi, thanks
She wouldn’t understand Hustle, or be interested. It’s only really a period drama that would work for her, I think.

DaffodilThatch · 20/03/2020 14:08

@M0reGinPlease yes I've noticed this too! It's nice and it makes me think that there are more good people out there than bad, and we can all get through it together.

@AutumnRose1 are you only looking for BBC iPlayer? The first two series of the Durrells are on Netflix, it's lovely if you've not seen it.

Feel like I'm about to fall apart after hearing social distancing measures are to be in place for a year. I get how important this, I really do but I don't know how I can live like this for a year. It's too much to take in.

AutumnRose1 · 20/03/2020 14:13

Thanks Daffodil
Mum doesnt have Netflix though tbh I don’t think she’d like that either. It’s not worth getting her any more paid stuff because she can’t work it and then doesn’t like anything!

I was hoping something like Daniel Deronda would come back round.

HonestlyItsFine · 20/03/2020 14:17

Metagoth that's worse case scenario, though. In a month, we may well have a treatment that works well so that this isn't as much as a problem. There are too many unknowns to start looking at bigger pictures yet.

Spudlet · 20/03/2020 14:19

@Metagoth All we can do is take it one step at a time. The situation is evolving way too quickly to make predictions about where we might be in a few months, never mind a year!

I do know that human beings are resilient and adaptable and we will find new ways to cope and be together through this as well. Flowers

MinesaPinot · 20/03/2020 14:42

Thanks for the thoughts all. I've bounced back. Dentist this morning with DH and we had some other shopping to do and we're now curled up on the sofa snoozing in front of an old film.

tobee · 20/03/2020 14:43

Flippin cold out today!

A lovely friend went to the supermarket last night and left a bag of extras on my doorstep! Just had a lovely soft scone! Yum! 😋

Millie2013 · 20/03/2020 15:00

There's a nip in the wind but we sat in some lovely sunshine earlier, well sheltered 🌞

Spudlet · 20/03/2020 15:18

Has anyone successfully sent a cake through the post? Not an elaborately decorated one, probably a standard fruitcake or similar.

A few of my relatives are self-isolating due to being at risk and I’d like to cheer them up with some baking. Cake

HouseElfy · 20/03/2020 15:55

Plenty of cake businesses do mail order cakes as standard I believe.

Spudlet · 20/03/2020 16:03

Yes, I’m just wondering how best to package and send one. Although I might go for cupcakes or brownies for easier sending? 🤔

Metagoth · 20/03/2020 16:08

Thanks all. I just keep telling myself to focus on the moment but I have such concerns about the mental health impact this will have us even though I know how much this is important.

Focusing on stories like the good news coming out of China helps too.

tobee · 20/03/2020 16:13

I just googled "how to post a cake" and there were lots of results @Spudlet
