Think would be good to keep this thread going! Will link to the previous threads in a bit.

Thanks @peachsquish. Wasn't sure as it much coarser than caster so worried it would taste gritty or something. Might do some baking tomorrow in that case Smile

@DaffodilThatch my DD and I made flapjacks today, using granulated sugar x

Alsohuman · 19/03/2020 21:14

My mum always used it, her sponges were wonderfully light.

Millie2013 · 19/03/2020 21:22

I bake with granulated sugar. My WI member mother clutches her pearls

I honestly can’t tell the difference between caster and granulated sugar when I bake

HonestlyItsFine · 19/03/2020 21:22

I think you may be able to get flour etc on amazon pantry?

DaffodilThatch · 19/03/2020 21:30

Thanks so much everyone! I will let you know how it goes Smile

Granulated here too.
Remember baking with my grandma as a tot.
Great thread.
Had first wobble yesterday about the lack meat.
But then practical and down at the supermarket at 7 when they opened.
Got everything.
As someone pp said farm shops are well stocked.
We will get through this.

More about Remdesivir and Chloroquine as potential treatments.

Contains technical data that goes way over my head, but looks like a positive:

This thread and the positive stories are a lifesaver. Some of the threads on here are enough to make anyone ill. I think most people are taking this seriously but I resent that people being called stupid for going to a shop for food. None of us know how long this will last and this has really helped me.

MinesaPinot · 19/03/2020 22:11

I went to my ballet class tonight after two days of being inside WFH. A small class - only 4 of us - in our big village hall so plenty of space to distance. What a boost to my MH. Just to feel normal and not overwhelmed with it all. I feel so much better than I have done.

RapidRainbow · 19/03/2020 22:11

I have also gone back to Candy Crush after about 4 years away 😂 I don't mind popping on Facebook occasionally for the comradery but then I need a break. I find that low level activity is easier to do, I can't remember where I read it now but basically when you are anxious you struggle to focus on things like movies and reading a book so it's good to do an activity that requires less concentration but diverts your attention. I think the hypno effect of games probably helps to quieten parts of the brain in overdrive, though I'm not an expert.

MinesaPinot · 19/03/2020 22:17

Metagoth I happened to mention on a thread that I was going to work. I have to use the train. I got so much vile abuse about how irresponsible I was, what bit of distancing didn't I get but the most vile language - I can swear but blimey - it made me feel so upset. DH was furious.

gingerbreadslice · 19/03/2020 22:36

@Callybrid I love shortbread no one ever remembers this pudding from school but I'm sure it was shortbread with pink custard? I loved that as a child!
And I'm not too sure I always wanted to get married in the summer and have a pretty strapless dress but I can't picture anything. I don't even mind a winter wedding now I'm imagining white fur shrugs lots of silver and lilac. I might order some magazines for inspiration Grin

HonestlyItsFine · 19/03/2020 22:41

I've been venturing into the 'main board" and some of those people are verging on hysterical.
Of course people still need to go out- unless you are extremely vulnerable and you and your whole household are SI (I have a friend in this position- her child is chronically ill - only leaving the house for short walks and DP has moved into his parents so he can still work). But that's a pretty rare situation. Otherwise of course people can go out. They are mistaking distancing for isolation.

magimedi · 19/03/2020 22:58

MN seems to gather up the bat shit crazy peeps. (Not on this thread but in many of the others)

Positive news: I have lost 4lbs in weight in the last week without trying. My appetite has just gone away & as I am at least 2 stone overweight this is amazing news. I may have the figure of a racing snake at the end of all of this!! Grin

HonestlyItsFine · 19/03/2020 22:58

Anyway, to get back to the positive I've just downloaded some E-books and will spend the next three days happily engrossed.

HonestlyItsFine · 19/03/2020 23:00

magimedi I've lost weight as well- not really sure how much, as I'm unsure how much I was before but it's a good few pounds! Hopefully by the end of all this I'll be slim again...

HonestlyItsFine · 19/03/2020 23:35

Without meaning to spam the thread, I just wanted to share one more piece of good news before I go to bed:

tobee · 20/03/2020 00:05

@MinesaPinot ** I hope you reported that post?

I went onto a thread just now where someone referred to "London scum" I reported but maybe I should left to show people? Wtaf is wrong with people? I'm not sure that if you keep shouting the same stuff to people over and over and over is the way to go if you're honestly looking to get people to change their minds? Surely try another tack?

tobee · 20/03/2020 00:07

I'd lost 3 and 1/2 pounds Yesterday. But felt guilty weighing myself at such a time . 😞

Millie2013 · 20/03/2020 02:50

Some promising news (guess who can’t sleep!)

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 20/03/2020 03:37

A very small thing but the pork chops I made for dinner tonight (new recipe) turned out extremely well and the family loved them. So that was nice.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 20/03/2020 04:33

Guys, I’m here. And never leaving this thread to go anywhere else on MN rn.

Siameasy · 20/03/2020 06:29

I’ve dipped into some other threads but I always end up abandoning because it becomes too bonkers. People on one thread were actually diagnosing others with it and going ape shit

Millie2013 · 20/03/2020 06:55

Hysteria appears to be more contagious than coronavirus 🧐🧐

Plans for today? We’re going walking and duck feeding ❤️❤️
