How are the brexiteers feeling?

The U.K. will face delays in getting the coronavirus vaccine as a result of our having left the EU. Now that we’re staring down the barrel of tangible consequences for that decision, how are the turkeys who voted for Christmas feeling?

foreignpolicy.com/2020/03/14/coronavirus-eu-abandoning-italy-china-aid/

Interesting how much help Italy has been given by the rest of the EU...

Rhubarbpeony · 16/03/2020 16:07

Is this a thread on CV ?

Sorry, was I not clear that I was talking about the coronavirus vaccine?

Are you suggesting that those who voted leave are responsible for the deaths of people in the UK from CV?

Those who voted to leave are the reason we will face a delay in getting vaccines. There is every possibility people will die as a result of that delay.

And this is just the start of it. We haven’t even begun to feel the real ramifications of being a small, isolated, unimportant island on the fringes of a world superpower that doesn’t look out for us anymore.

That's some direction you're going in....

It’s the direction you and your fellows voted for.

You’ve actually posted this in the wrong section. There is a specific place where Brexit whinging lives. Stop being desperate to still cause arguments.

Absentwomen · 16/03/2020 16:09

No, Seventy,

The OP opened with insults re leave voters.....

Rhubarbpeony · 16/03/2020 16:09

Also, please feel free to address my questions at any time - why are you pleased with your decision? Do you consider people dying to be a price you’re willing to pay? What are the benefits we have gained, and how do they outweigh what we have lost?

MasakaBuzz · 16/03/2020 16:09

@ Rhubarbpeony - get your facts right. Cameron opted to provide more help within the camps. Ie helping within the camps means the funding went further. Where do you think the money that has been used to help has come from? Yes the E.U. budget. How many countries are net contributors- about 4. So yes the U.K. has been fucking brilliant at helping refugees. At least compared with many other countries.

Absentwomen · 16/03/2020 16:10

Oh yes. You were clear.

On a vaccine that isnt yet live.

Joyfulljenny · 16/03/2020 16:10

There is NO proof there could be a delay. Where is your proof?? All that article says is could. The guardian is remainder strong hold. Of course it’s going to be whipping you up to froth

And yes, get back over to the brexit boards and stop trying to sneak your agenda on here

OP posts:
Random18 · 16/03/2020 16:12

Let's get as many of us through this alive then ask these questions.

There ain't even a vaccine yet and we do 't k kw where it will come from.

With everything that is going on you still want to make everything political.

And the fact that European countries are looking after their own country with little regard for others may mean that Germany per se gets it before Italy.

I am not even a Brexiteer........

Everything is political. I didn’t make it that way.

You are really just as bad as nige and the buses. Stop fear mongering. Pathetic

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 16/03/2020 16:15

I voted Remain and I’m still pushed off about Brexit but this is utter shite.

Why would the EU be keeping the vaccine for themselves?

I’m so pissed off with the batshitery and the scaremongering and the complete and utter barking nonsense on these threads.

WtF is wrong with people?

Is the Cassandra syndrome rife on MN or is it sheer Schadenfreude at our own cornea?

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 16/03/2020 16:15

expense

Rhubarbpeony · 16/03/2020 16:15

There is NO proof there could be a delay. Where is your proof?? All that article says is could.

What’s your basis for disagreeing? Do you think the EU is going to treat us like a member state? If so, what’s your reason for thinking so? You must have one, right?

OP posts:
Absentwomen · 16/03/2020 16:15

Why are you pleased with your decision to vote remain?

For your fellow human beings? Do feel free....

I've no problem answering any of my reasons for voting leave. However, perhaps address your tone in your opening post... try that... you might find responses are measured.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 16/03/2020 16:15

Rhubarbpeony

The EU is going to struggle massively to recover from the economic impact of CV. Spain, Greece and Italy were already in dire economic condition prior to the epidemic. They have now had to stick their economies into full reverse for weeks. I doubt there will be much appetite for political bickering over vaccines whilst they try to rebuild. I think CV will have a bigger impact on the EU than Brexit.

Tootletum · 16/03/2020 16:16

There's really no point in arguing. You don't get children to comply by shouting at them that they're wrong, adults are no different.

MasakaBuzz · 16/03/2020 16:17

@ Rhubarbpeony - if you are quoting the Guardian you have already lost the argument.

Rhubarbpeony · 16/03/2020 16:18

Why are you pleased with your decision to vote remain?

I’m not, particularly, since it didn’t lead to us remaining in the U.K. I have to suffer these shitty consequences just as much as you. Believe me, it is no comfort that I at least didn’t choose them.

For your fellow human beings? Do feel free....

Feel free to what...?

I've no problem answering any of my reasons for voting leave. However, perhaps address your tone in your opening post... try that... you might find responses are measured.

Ahh, that classic. ‘I could respond but I don’t like your tone so I won’t’.

(Universally used by people needing an excuse for why they can’t defend their position)

Rhubarbpeony · 16/03/2020 16:19

@MasakaBuzz how convenient. What about the other sources I used? Do you have a neat little disregard for them too?

OP posts:
bellinisurge · 16/03/2020 16:19

Interesting that the border closure for the EU (just announced) doesn't exclude the UK - we can travel as before - "because they are Europeans". What bastards eh?

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 16/03/2020 16:19

Shame on you Rhubarb. Call yourself a Remainer and go round whipping more hatred.

How is that helping the Remain cause? How is it helping anyone?

Rhubarbpeony · 16/03/2020 16:22

Shame on you Rhubarb. Call yourself a Remainer and go round whipping more hatred.

You need to get a grip of yourself if you think asking questions on a forum constitutes whipping up hatred.

How is that helping the Remain cause? How is it helping anyone?

There is no remain cause anymore. But I believe it does help to force people to face up to the consequences of their decisions. I know no brexiteer is going to admit on here if they feel sick and guilty and anxious now, but I know many of them are feeling it. If there comes a future point where they have to make another life changing decision, maybe they will remember that.
