WIBU to send a complaint about this aggressive text message?

I have just received this from my GP (and yes, it was recieved in capital letters, I haven’t edited it):

COVID-19: FOLLOWING LATEST GUIDANCE, Edited out MEDICAL CENTRE WILL BE OPERATING A TELEPHONE CONSULTATION ONLY SERVICE. ONCE YOU HAVE BEEN ASSESSED, THE CLINICIAN WILL DECIDE IF A FACE TO FACE CONSULTATION IS NEEDED. WE ARE WORKING HARD TO PROTECT OUR PATIENTS AND STAFF. IF YOU HAVE AN APPOINTMENT BOOKED IN THE NEAR FUTURE, YOU WILL BE CONTACTED, DO NOT ATTEND THE SURGERY.THANK YOU FOR YOUR CO-OPERATION.

Is that unnecessary and rude? I haven’t even seen a doctor at that surgery since eleven months ago, it’s not like I’m hounding at their door every day and a walking risk.

I get that it is important and needs to be clarified but wtf, does anyone else think it’s really rude to send spam messages to random people in that tone of manner?

There's nothing to complain about, it's sent to all patients regardless of whether they regularly see their GP or not, it isn't personal.

If I’m wrong and it looks like I am wrong given the responses then find, I will and have taken it on board, but I could appreciate people not suggesting something I didn’t say and have made clear several times I didn’t say.

OP I think this thread is a dead cause now. I'd hide and move on. It's just a pile on now.

Do you really think this is the time to be troubling gps with a complaint over a text?
If so, you need to take a serious look at yourself. Our nhs staff are working so hard trying to keep us all well/healthy/alive and you want to give them hassle over a fucking text?

That's not what spam is. Of course they sent the same message to everyone on their list. That's because they needed to get the same message to everyone on their list and a group text is the quickest most direct method of contact.

Do you think they should have personalised the message to each patient? Do you think they should have sent nothing at all? Just wait for the hundreds of phonecalls to block up their switchboard? Wait for people to be waiting in a queue for their call to be answered and then decide to just turn up at the surgery anyway to see what's happening?

The Prime Minister is a bumbling baffoon recommending to do nothing and let everyone get infected. Where does he think the 100,000s of patients who will require hospital treatment, ventilation, ICU care are going to be treated if something isn't put in place to slow this thing down.

Thankfully sensible medical professionals who know where this is heading are taking charge of their own situations and trying to do what's best to try save people's lives.

But yeah, it's exactly the same as the GP trying to sell you a penis enlargement 🙄

A penis enlargement text would beat our dentist’s tooth whitening texts (channels Coldplay - we are all yellloooooow) into a cockit hat. 🤣

Because you said “I haven’t even seen a doctor at that surgery since eleven months ago, it’s not like I’m hounding at their door every day and a walking risk.” Which implies that you thought the text wasn’t aimed at you and you shouldn’t have received it - ie personalisation.

I used to sit next to the people who dealt with complaints in my last NHS job. They were the kindest, calmest, most caring people you could imagine.
This complaint would have made their day.

I didn’t say anything about getting this thread taken down. AGAIN, an example of people making things up that I’ve supposedly said just because they disagree with the thread.

I don’t think the Op meant they wanted their thread deleted. Just that they understood they’d been mistaken (not ‘arf) and would accept the general opinion they’d been a bit a great big knuckle of a knob

Don’t want to talk for him or her but I think they’ve realised that this is not a problem or an issue for times such as these - or at all.
