WIBU to send a complaint about this aggressive text message?

I have just received this from my GP (and yes, it was recieved in capital letters, I haven’t edited it):

COVID-19: FOLLOWING LATEST GUIDANCE, Edited out MEDICAL CENTRE WILL BE OPERATING A TELEPHONE CONSULTATION ONLY SERVICE. ONCE YOU HAVE BEEN ASSESSED, THE CLINICIAN WILL DECIDE IF A FACE TO FACE CONSULTATION IS NEEDED. WE ARE WORKING HARD TO PROTECT OUR PATIENTS AND STAFF. IF YOU HAVE AN APPOINTMENT BOOKED IN THE NEAR FUTURE, YOU WILL BE CONTACTED, DO NOT ATTEND THE SURGERY.THANK YOU FOR YOUR CO-OPERATION.

Is that unnecessary and rude? I haven’t even seen a doctor at that surgery since eleven months ago, it’s not like I’m hounding at their door every day and a walking risk.

I get that it is important and needs to be clarified but wtf, does anyone else think it’s really rude to send spam messages to random people in that tone of manner?

I don't see what is wrong with that message? You are obviously registered with the surgery - how long it has been since your last appointment is irrelevant.

GCAcademic · 16/03/2020 11:16

Yes, you should complain. The NHS has very little of consequence to do at the moment, and their staff would appreciate being kept busy dealing with complaints from those who object to the tone of a text message.

AmputatedSoul · 16/03/2020 11:16

Pretty unanimous YABU there OP!!

Have a Biscuit and get a grip.

Ginkypig · 16/03/2020 11:17

Standard message. It won't be to you personally it will be a mass send out to all patients on the books.

It looks almost identical to the first one my surgery sent out last week. We have since had two similar others.

It was sent to every patient in a mass txt.

GoodbyePorpoiseSpit · 16/03/2020 11:17

Sometimes I feel so sorry for public services. This is exactly the kind of bullshit they could do without.

pallasathena · 16/03/2020 11:18

Why are you finding fault with this?
Suggest you examine your own propensity to be ridiculously judgemental given current circumstances; or are you one of those permanently offended by everything sorts?
Serious question OP.

Kaykay066 · 16/03/2020 11:18

Guess the caps are to make a point
My son is asthmatic so if he were to be unwell with his asthma and asked to come in, being near people with potential c19 symptoms would be really dangerous for him and any other already unwell/vulnerable people so they are trying to make a point....not rude at all

longwayoff · 16/03/2020 11:18

Oh do be quiet, they've got enough to do without needlessly soothing your ruffled feathers. Unbelievable.

Saxifraga · 16/03/2020 11:19
Biscuit
WorraLiberty · 16/03/2020 11:19

Please don't tell me you thought it was composed personally and sent to you only? Grin

TheQueef · 16/03/2020 11:20

Sometimes things are more important than tone you attribute.
YAB massively U.
It's a GLOBAL crisis.

Cacaca · 16/03/2020 11:21

Get a grip. Just you go ahead and waste their time with your pathetic complaint.

Snowpaw · 16/03/2020 11:21

Jesus Christ

Flimflamfloogety · 16/03/2020 11:21

It's a standard message that has been sent to everyone registered with the practice, they have not singled you out.

There is nothing wrong with the tone at all, and it is very sensible advice. i imagine the reason for the capslocks is so when it flashes on your screen it grabs your attention and makes you more likely to read it.

Please don't waste their time making a complaint about, they have much more important things to worry about

pilates · 16/03/2020 11:22

YABU

Glasgowgin · 16/03/2020 11:22

This has made me so furious that I cannot even begin to explain. Over the last week gp surgeries have been working non stop up try and work a vaguely safe way of dealing with patients but knowing we are putting ourselves and our loved ones at risk every day. My husband and his colleagues are setting up extra ITU beds knowing they will be working in hell and at huge personal risk over the next few months. And you seriously are complaining about the tone of a text message??

Ruby8719 · 16/03/2020 11:23

@TheNamesJames I think you need to look up the word aggressive.

Also this is the best way to explain it to people - not everyone understands complicated explanations, english isn’t their first language, elderly, average reading age in the uk is 12 etc

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 16/03/2020 11:23

What? A standard factual message. Not rude Confused

redwoodmazza · 16/03/2020 11:23

FFS! I think they have more to deal with than a snowflake being offended at an emergency message they have sent out.
Get a grip!

BabbleBee · 16/03/2020 11:24

YABVVVU.

GP surgeries have got enough to do without sieving through unjustified complaints about a text message.

TheFastandTheCurious · 16/03/2020 11:25

Jesus, people are dying I tell you, DYING, and you want to make a complaint about a fecking text message.

I despair

puds11 · 16/03/2020 11:25

Fucking hell! Not just about you @TheNamesJames is it! Who cares if it’s rude, they’re trying to protect people. They should have done it sooner and with a threat of consequence to anyone who just shows up imo.

TheNamesJames · 16/03/2020 11:26

Standard message. It won't be to you personally it will be a mass send out to all patients on the books.

That looks like a totally normal message that would (and should) be sent to everyone who is registered there.

Erm... I understand that it wasn’t a message sent just to me personally... that’s why I called it a spam message.

I thought it was quite aggressive, with the capital letters and scolding tone like you’ve been called in to see the headteacher even though you haven’t done anything wrong, but I received an almost unanimous YABU so I’ll take it on point and accept that I am in the wrong Smile

Can you clarify why you think it's spam? Are you not still registered at that surgery?

Chillicheese123 · 16/03/2020 11:28

Honestly how do some people get through the day
