WIBU to send a complaint about this aggressive text message?

I have just received this from my GP (and yes, it was recieved in capital letters, I haven’t edited it):

COVID-19: FOLLOWING LATEST GUIDANCE, Edited out MEDICAL CENTRE WILL BE OPERATING A TELEPHONE CONSULTATION ONLY SERVICE. ONCE YOU HAVE BEEN ASSESSED, THE CLINICIAN WILL DECIDE IF A FACE TO FACE CONSULTATION IS NEEDED. WE ARE WORKING HARD TO PROTECT OUR PATIENTS AND STAFF. IF YOU HAVE AN APPOINTMENT BOOKED IN THE NEAR FUTURE, YOU WILL BE CONTACTED, DO NOT ATTEND THE SURGERY.THANK YOU FOR YOUR CO-OPERATION.

Is that unnecessary and rude? I haven’t even seen a doctor at that surgery since eleven months ago, it’s not like I’m hounding at their door every day and a walking risk.

I get that it is important and needs to be clarified but wtf, does anyone else think it’s really rude to send spam messages to random people in that tone of manner?

OP posts:

Not seeing the slightest whiff of aggression in that text message AT ALL.

Am seeing a heap of stupidity in the OPs reaction to it.

If you're going to try to be witty with pedantry, you need to get it right.

Fair enough. Point still stands though Grin

Useryokyesno · 16/03/2020 14:19

How is it a spam message?! Sorry I know there are 10 pages of comments but ffs

Stelmariah · 16/03/2020 14:20

YABU! Leave the GP’s office and healthcare workers alone, they already have enough problems without pesky people such as yourself desperate to be offended!

tallah · 16/03/2020 14:22

Wow you're high maintenance!

ItsGoingTibiaK · 16/03/2020 14:22

@FallonSwift

Huge apologies - there was supposed to be a winky face on my post. 😀

Peace and love, peace and love.

Rhubarbpeony · 16/03/2020 14:23

It’s not really spam if it’s imparting important information, is it?

It’s also in all caps because it’s easier for people who are dyslexic and visually impaired to read.

LaMarschallin · 16/03/2020 14:25

I feel a bit foolish because I hadn't noticed - until a PP pointed it out - that this is, apparently, a first thread started by a new poster.

The whole premise sounds incredibly stupid but it has brought us all together (except for about 6 people on the YABU*/YANBU vote).

Could this be subtle government propaganda to draw us together?

I know it sounds totally paranoid Smile

And I have reported the thread because I actually wonder if it's a journalist.

*I can't be alone in "hearing" that as: Yah Boo"?

FallonSwift · 16/03/2020 14:25

No worries - I took it in the best spirit of pedants' corner Grin Flowers

FallonSwift · 16/03/2020 14:26

LaMarschallin There was a huge thread on here ages ago about how people pronounce YABU - IIRC you aren't alone with the 'yah-boo'!

SuburbanFraggle · 16/03/2020 14:26

Over a thousand people think YABU.

Where can I apply for a job being offended by everything? OP is working from home doing it ATM so needs to make up her quota. Normally she is asking for the manager in shops and cafés;

In Primark: I'd like to complain to the manager, someone has unfolded these jumpers and it looks untidy.

On the tube: It's a bit crowded in here, can't I get a private carriage. (Not complaining to the minister of transport to improve public infrastructure, but to the poor bastard with a whistle who tells the driver it's clear to go).

Complaining to BBC weather that it rained on her birthday.

Well, that's a relief! Didn't see the thread (will look it out), but it's always good to know one's not alone Flowers

YABVVV unreasonable! I got a similar text message 3 times last night from my GP surgery. I accepted it was to protect their staff and patients and I had clearly received it multiple times as the surgery has my MB for my children as they are so young

There are much more important things to focus on that text messages

Our surgery and the other one in our town went into lockdown on Friday, only found out on FB. We have yet to receive a text from them. Same wording on FB as yours OP.

pigsDOfly · 16/03/2020 14:39

That OP has got to be one of the stupidest things I've read on mn.

GP surgery sends important, perfectly reasonable message to patients and someone gets all hot under the collar because they perceive the capital letters mean the message is aggressive and shouty.

Sometimes you have to wonder how stupid some people can be.

Walkerbean16 · 16/03/2020 14:45

Mr drs has security guard on the door not letting anyone in.

The text is standard

I don’t know why people are repeatedly pointing out that the text message would have been sent to everyone on the GPS books and not just me: I KNOW that. That’s why I called it a spam message in my OP... because they sent the same message to everyone on their list
..........

'Spam' emails and texts are usually 'junk'.

I don't understand why you are moaning about it, you'd moan more if you made a journey to your surgery only to find you're not allowed in.
Get real. I thought you were a WUM at first.

TheShepherdsCrown · 16/03/2020 14:48

Utterly unreasonable. If course its a mass mailing. Or what you dismissively sneer at as spam.
Do you seriously expect them to waste the time and skills needed in the NHS on trawling through to work out who to send a message to? In the midst of extra work and chaos.
And as for your immediate outraged reaction to consider wasting their time with a complaint, words fail me.
Grow the fuck up buttercup.

Cheekyfuckerslastnerve · 16/03/2020 14:48

You have a healthy stockpile of green biros op don't you?

mrsbyers · 16/03/2020 14:50

Give your head a shake , there’s nothing wrong with it at all - Capitals used to establish the serious nature of the message

Buggedandconfused · 16/03/2020 14:51

Oh dear.

Taddda · 16/03/2020 14:52

Did you think that was intended 'just for you'?? Grin

Redglitter · 16/03/2020 15:00

Go on complain & see how quickly your GP removes you from his list
