DS has just text - his uni has now decided to go with virtual learning from next week. All lectures suspended for this week too. Not sure if he'll come home or not. DD is here for the week on a planned visit and her company have now implemented wfh - she's debating whether to stay here for the next few weeks too. We may be back to a full house again.

Can someone on here talk me down please.
I am self isolating with the rest of my family due to coughs.
My cough has mostly stopped today but it feels like my lungs have a heavy weight on them and I feel so drained. Still able to sort the kids out. My temperature is up a bit for me but not above 37.8
How much of this is my anxiety and how much could be actual symptoms?

BeyondMymymymyCorona · 16/03/2020 12:19

When there are younger deaths, they tend to come later than older deaths. So knowing there are younger people in ICU in Italy, it's probably not that reassuring to know that no one under a certain age has died yet.

Something I've been curious about is whether corona is being counted as a secondary cause of death, if the primary is eg asthma attack. Especially in cases that aren't in hospital. German figures were what made me wonder this, along with low figures for children (given how many children have asthma)

Forgot to say earlier, when I rang the school to say the DCs weren't going, it took a few calls. Not usually perpetually engaged. They then (literally five mins ago) sent an email home saying school is open as normal

30 new cases in Wales - total 124.

Titsywoo · 16/03/2020 12:21

I work opposite a soft play and ive just seen two school aged children with their mum and toddler sibling (i assume) trotting off towards it Angry I just can't comprehend the stupidity.

Tried to get aptamil baby milk for my daughter in Morrisons earlier, there was none. Apparently people are buying baby milk as there is no long life UHT left. Disgusts me that people will leave babies without, just to ensure they get a fucking cup of coffee in the morning. Also baby milk tastes vile why would you even want that in your coffee 🤷‍♀️

MurrayTheMonk · 16/03/2020 12:23

Whynotme-it's really tricky to distinguish from real symptoms and one's you've thought your way in to.
But look at what you can physically test-your temp is regular, you are no long coughing.
A normal virus/cold might make your chest tight and even if you had /have corona in most people, especially kids, it's a mild illness according to all the wisdom.

Plenty of fluid and rest if you can. You'll come through it ok x

BeyondMymymymyCorona · 16/03/2020 12:24

Where did you see that oak? I can't see an update on any welsh news sites?

Anyone who's interested in learning more about Coronavirus and Covid-19 can sign up for free for a course with Future Learn. It starts on 23 March. I've done a number of their courses and found them enjoyable and educational.

"Norway's Prime Minister Erna Solberg has told children in the country that it's "OK to be scared" during the pandemic.

Schools and nurseries are among the many public and private institutions in Norway that have been closed in response to the outbreak.

She held a special news conference dedicated to answering questions from children about the coronavirus.

The questions Ms Solberg fielded included, "Can I have a birthday party?", "Can I visit my grandparents after going to a shopping centre?" and "What can I do to help?"

"It is OK to be scared when so many things happen at the same time," she told them.

"By being home you are helping other people not to be contaminated and get sick. It is important for those who already have a disease, or who are very old." "

I love this.

@WhyNotMe40 don't panic. It is the symptoms but mild. It's good that the cough has gone. Rest as much as possible and watch some funny films to cheer you up xx

Helenj1977 · 16/03/2020 12:28

@BeyondMymymymyCorona That is so lovely isn't it. I had the 'life won't be the same for a while' chat with my 10yo dd. It's heart breaking. I'd like to wake up from the bad dream now x

Has anyone else noticed how many women are getting shut down on social media? Literally on Facebook admins are shutting off commenting when women write something about being worried about Covid, whether others are keeping kids off schools, but men are OK to make jokes about it? Only the conspiracy theory stupidity and jokes about panic and stockpiling are allowed it seems. Preferably written by men.

Blueberryham · 16/03/2020 12:29

The uk still seem to be going down the route of expecting everyone to get it eventually 😔 I was just listening to something on the radio which said the low death rate in South Korea being down to early testing and detection. Which we in the uk have decided to stop doing 😔

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 12:29

Spain - About 9,200 diagnosed 309 deceased.

DitheringDoris · 16/03/2020 12:30

@Blabbyblab nobody should be buying formula to put in tea and coffee, it seems people have forgot about Marvel, I brought two tubs Saturday, UHT all gone but plenty of dried milk. Asda do their own brand of dried milk for half the price of Marvel.

buttonmoonb4tea · 16/03/2020 12:31

@WhyNotMe40 I've self isolated since last Wednesday with the same symptoms. The heavy weight feeling on your chest lasts a few days. That feeling has not gone for me but still feel slightly wheezy

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 12:31

I know a Brit living in South Korea - he is utterly raging about how we here are reacting compared to there.

Janemarpling · 16/03/2020 12:31

Colleague has lost her voice. Not sent her home as its not one of the triggers.
