www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/16/im-losing-faith-in-the-leadership-a-doctors-story-coronavirus

This is a pretty sobering read.

ginandnappies · 16/03/2020 21:25

www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-51873799 don't know if this'll work or if it's been posted but I found it a helpful read.

Fannia · 16/03/2020 21:25

The advice on the website is clear in that it explains the guidelines but they are so wish-washy. We want some nice clear rules, backed up by financial support.

Confuddledtown · 16/03/2020 21:27

@Eeyoresstickhouse thank you

fullofteandneedstopee · 16/03/2020 21:29

Work college has tested positive today and now I have a temp of 38.4F. Do I need to self isolate me and my child for 14 days now?

Feeling hot and cold today, but not shivery and been tired the last 3 days. Just in case people wondered about symptoms. Temp has been around the same for three hours.

SabineSchmetterling · 16/03/2020 21:30

Fulloftea- Yes. Definitely self-isolate.

Fluffyblanket287 · 16/03/2020 21:31

Chronic neurological conditions is listed as strongly advised.

Is narcolepsy and cataplexy one?

Sunshinegirl82 · 16/03/2020 21:33

Am I understanding right that the Dutch approach is quite similar to the UK?

What? ' We got the Maths wrong'

MabelMoo23 · 16/03/2020 21:37

Fulloftea - absolutely yes, you must self isolate for 14 days now

wintertravel1980 · 16/03/2020 21:42

We got the Maths wrong

It is actually not clear whose maths is right. I have just read the report from the Imperial college and it includes a lot of assumptions that can be challenged (e.g. can we really assume the number of ICU beds will not change if we close schools and NHS staff will not be able to come to work?).

The reality is currently no-one knows whether the right strategy in the long run is suppression or mitigation. Only the future will tell.

Here is the actual report.

Calmonthesurfacebut · 16/03/2020 21:43

@fullofteandneedstopee. Yes definitely.

Sunshinegirl82 · 16/03/2020 21:44

I just read this. Seemed similar is www.dutchnews.nl/news/2020/03/we-are-aiming-for-maximum-control-of-coronavirus-pm-tells-the-dutch/

Calmonthesurfacebut · 16/03/2020 21:45

@Fluffyblanket287. Narcolepsy I would have thought so.

mrshoho · 16/03/2020 21:45

Fulloftea Yes you should isolate and also if you've been in close contact with a confirmed case this should mean you ^should^ be tested. 111 but good luck getting through.

Greenbutterlfy566 · 16/03/2020 21:46

Does it mean anyone with an underying health Condition without symptoms should not leave their home at all?

FingonTheValiant · 16/03/2020 21:47

Sunshine all schools are closed in the Netherlands. And all restaurants, bars, non-essential shops, so if they’re aiming for the same result as the uk, they’re going about it very differently. Plus their borders will be closed from midday tomorrow.

Fluffyblanket287 · 16/03/2020 21:52

@Calmonthesurfacebut thank you for replying. I have it and on a lot of medication, really concerned.

EducatingArti · 16/03/2020 21:53

No I don't think it does Green butterfly but it is a bit confusing!

fullofteandneedstopee · 16/03/2020 21:53

I thought as much. Self isolation it is.

Butternutbrownie · 16/03/2020 21:56

severe asthma (requiring hospital admissions or courses of steroid tablets)

Anyone know if this is applies to people with asthma who need a rescue course of steroids a few times a year, or those on them constantly?

Xenia · 16/03/2020 21:57

Green, no, but just avoid contact when out eg don't have a chat with someone you meet out there, don't spend too long in the shop buying food, don't go into a pub or restaurant etc.

Fluffyblanket287 · 16/03/2020 21:57

I don't understand how having the children at school if you are on the list to follow the social distancing closely would work?

I have a chronic neurological disorder and children at school. It feels counter productive?

Janemarpling · 16/03/2020 22:01

Agree fluffy
