Digital, what do you mean no breakdown?
The Italian stats are published daily.
As of Saturday, last time I looked, 2 deaths under 40 both with underlying issues. 12% of those in ICU are under 50.
Which breakdown do you want?
Xenia's map also gave a breakdown upthread.
La Repubblica (available also in English) gives a breakdown every day.
The Protezione Civile gives a breakdown every day.
The regions/provinces and towns do also.

Nearest death to us yesterday, an 88 year old (8km away, lots of underlying health issues to the point he never left the house and was visited only by carers and HCPs)

Xenia · 16/03/2020 11:47

Lyn, yes I did that re Italy as it was quite an interesting picture setting it all out.

The elderly may be advised to avoid large gatherings. They may not be forbidden on pain of prison if they are well from going out to buy a loaf of bread or pick up pills but we shall see if it has to come to that for those who have no symptoms.

WhatHoJeeves · 16/03/2020 11:47

I popped in to Tesco around 9.30. Car park was full, shop was heaving.

There were quite a few school age children in there - not hundreds, but certainly more than usual.

No schools are closed in my area so it makes me think they are being kept off but taken out shopping. If many people decide to do this, then the kids will just be mixing more with elderly and vulnerable people!

@EveLevine I will start making enquiries but wondered if this was too far in advance

DH had a routine gp appt cancelled this morning - no explanation. As he is immunosuppressed post-chemo I'm glad he didnt have to sit in a room full of sick people... on the other hand it would be nice to know his blood pressure is stable.

DD1 due home from France via Geneva Weds. DD2 now wfh. I always wfh and have had all upcoming work events cancelled.

OneForMeToo · 16/03/2020 11:50

Preschool now only accepting at door no entering, primary have finally asked who has online access at home.

Can I ask more about the information on France @anonacfr? My parents live part time there, part time in the UK and are currently planning on comng back around the end of March - I don't know if they have seen anything about a lockdown. They are 69/71 and have been freaked out at the thought of having to isolate themselves in their flat if they come back - but I think they may well want to come back if they can because of being closer to maternal grandmother (98) and my uncle who has terminal cancer.... Any online source for the info that I could share with them would be really useful.

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 11:52

Wouldn't the whole of China been in chaos by the time Whuan lock-downed if it was circulating in the UK December time.

Nick Eardley - 'No10 repeats that scientific advice is not to close schools at this stage.'

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 16/03/2020 11:55

Atmosphere in (small) Sainsburys this morning was actually really pleasant, people talking to each other and being nice to check out assistants. Not much on the shelves though, freezers practically stripped bare too.

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 11:55

Pippa Crerar - 'PM spox: "It's not something we've ever ruled out but equally the scientific and medical advice is that it's not a step we should be taking at this time."

A reminder: kids are low risk/ they may infect grandparents/ NHS workers have kids too.'

Work has emailed saying they've been having crisis meeting over the weekend and they'll be making some massive announcement (probably sacking us all). Email says that last week "we couldn't have foreseen what would happen this week".
REALLY?! In that case make me a senior CEO, because I fucking foresaw this 2 months ago, as did everyone on these threads. Horrible virus in Wuhan, flights going in and out constantly, governments that want to keep economy running as long as possible, under-resourced health systems, over-population and presenteeism.......what could possibly go wrong?

MarshaBradyo · 16/03/2020 11:57

They do get it more mildly but when Dh wfh the most likely way we’d get it is the dc at school.

Which is making me undecided.

Cat Neilan - 'New: Government's scientific advice group SAGE will be publishing #coronavirus modelling data, spokesman confirms. rejects suggestion that govt is - or has ever - been seeking "herd immunity". Says govt policy is to fight #coronavirus, protect the vulnerable and help support the NHS

In terms of testing, spokesman says: "We have carried out more tests than most countries in the world and we continue to increase our testing capacity". Asked about stockpiling, spox says discussions are taking place with retailers to discuss "all necessary steps" to ensure consumers have food and supplies they need, govt is working to ensure resilience of supply network, but consumers are asked to shop "responsibly". Asked if govt is planning to introduce rationing, spox says "that is not part of the legislation we are bringing forward, no". '

Pippa Crerar - 'Will parents be fined if they keep their kids home?

PM spox: "If parents are isolating themselves or their family because they're concerned they may have coronavirus then no, they wouldn't". ''

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 12:00

Jim Waterson - 'BBC has now confirmed it will delay charging over-75s for the licence fee by two months to 1 August at earliest. Were concerns the elderly would either feel pressured to go outside to prove eligibility or be cut off from vital information.'

Rob Powell - 'NEW: PM's Spokesperson says the current scientific advice indicates that the govt should not shut down schools at this time but adds that they have never ruled out that measure in the future. Detail will also be published tomorrow of emergency legislation that could include provisions to force schools to stay open. PM's spokesperson not confirming those clauses will be in the bill, but not denying it either. '

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 12:03

Michael Walker - ' Very powerful interview with David Blunkett on bbc5live right now. Says he knows 4 months in isolation would mean he deteriorates. Shows the cost of the “cocooning” strategy. The Koreans are containing COVID-19 in all sections of population, meaning older people free to go out.'

DigitalGhost · 16/03/2020 12:07

@TheCanterburyWhales Thanks no idea how i missed that. That's exactly what i wanted to see. There is so much fake news about kids and 20 - 30's dropping down dead in Italy.
Not what i want to be reading at 33 weeks pregnant, i'm scared enough for my parents & Gran.

Lynamic · 16/03/2020 12:08

It is really a concerning picture for younger people also Xenia. The confirmed child cases at 1 in 40 severe, 2 in a thousand fatal in China, 1 in 29 requiring "reanimation" in France, are reflection of the best outcome for younger adults also, consistent with the same China CFR and Italy deaths in the 30- 39 age group.

Thank you for linking BiBi. I keep noticing chloroquine, and have read about liponavir although apparently can cause more side effects than is ideal.

I noticed the page quoted scientists saying they are very, very surprised that HIV drugs work so effectively, and can't help putting that together with what I read about a virologist refuting that the virus was engineered, at the same time stating that a variety of viruses have a spike protein of some or other found in HIV, and this one has four. It's really important we understand this before running out to catch it

Coquohvan · 16/03/2020 12:11

@malpa sorry not opening either. Opens up but doesn’t expand only shows my Home location. Thanks for trying for me appreciate that.
