Matt Chorley - 'But baffling why pubs and clubs should decide whether or not to stay open (and face hardship without insurance which might pay out if government ordered lock down)'.

houseofrabbits · 16/03/2020 18:00

Just confirmed on BBC news that anyone with symptoms (cough and/or temp) should self isolate for 14 days, along with everyone else in the household. I'm totally screwed and I can see schools closing due lack of staff at this rate!

SubjectMatterExpert · 16/03/2020 18:01

My DH will almostly certainly die if he gets it

MurrayTheMonk · 16/03/2020 18:02

But how long do you stay off for if your family member has symptoms that stop after a few days. So say dd2 feels better by Wednesday-are the rest of us still off for the following 12 days?

danni0509 · 16/03/2020 18:02

How many people are going to listen though.

My friends coughing her lungs up, she earns a few hundred a week, she says she will get £94 sick pay and won't be able to pay anything so she's gone to work.

I'm pretty sure many others are / will be doing the same.

MarshaBradyo · 16/03/2020 18:02

SubjectMatter can you all stay home?

LambriniSocialist · 16/03/2020 18:02

Someone's friend has a grandson aged 7 in ICU. We are not being told the truth.

Someone on a FB group's friends grandson? Hmm

Alwaysreadyforbed · 16/03/2020 18:02

If you close schools, parents will send them to the grandparents. It makes sense not to close them

Beebityboo · 16/03/2020 18:03

We are currently self isolating due to DD developing a cough/temp. We're one day in to seven. Do we now extend it to 14?What about going to the shop for food for things like milk/bread? I wasn't prepared enough for two weeks and the soonest I can get an online delivery is 3 weeks.
No friends/family nearby to help. I'm in such an anxious mess.

abitoflight · 16/03/2020 18:03

queenjaneappro · 16/03/2020 18:03

danni0509 · 16/03/2020 18:04

@abitoflight where did you see this? X

Quartz2208 · 16/03/2020 18:06

Someone's friend has a grandson aged 7 in ICU. We are not being told the truth.

I think that was debunked yesterday as a grandmother overreacting

danni0509 · 16/03/2020 18:06

Any links to 53 dead pls x

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 18:06

Westfield in stratford quieter than normal but still pretty busy.

Lotuscup563 · 16/03/2020 18:06

@LambriniSocialist
Before Boris started speaking the WHO said children had died. It then cut to the presenter in the news room and her gust and she said it to him about the children, he looked shocked, his mouth dropped open and she stumbled, it then cut to Boris as he was on.

Boris has now finished and no one is talking about the children that have died!!!

It was like a 20 second thing on the news as they was jumping from news room to Boris but now they are not taking about it when that’s BIG news!

It’s like they are covering it up!!!

I watched the government briefing this afternoon and it seems very vague on whether people with hypertension should self isolate..as far as I can tell they aren't advising it.The research so far is that hypertension has a 6% mortality rate from Coronavirus...so it's a bit worrying to continue working right now!
I am a working single mum with long term hypertension so I'm wondering if anyone else is in the same position or has any advice.

danni0509 · 16/03/2020 18:08

Thank you @Justforthislifetime
