It is all so dreadfully foggy and vague.

I really, really, really can't understand why people expected anything different ? Nothing in Boris illustrious past can be used to support anything other than the view that he is an incompetent buffoon. Why should he suddenly become competent now ? This is real life, not a feelgood film. For better, or in this case for worse, the UK managed to saddle itself with "a character" for a Prime Minister.

This is a man whose response to a question as Prime Minister was to hide in a fridge. I'd be seriously questioning the intelligence of anyone who honestly thought he was the man for the hour right now.

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 17:23

Ed Habershon - 'Prime minister on school closures: 'It's much better if we can keep schools open for all sorts of reasons, but it's something we'll keep under review.' '

picklemewalnuts · 16/03/2020 17:23

They need to issue this in bulletin form. Bullet points. No faffing.

Exochord · 16/03/2020 17:23

Atrocious. No bans or forced closures. So idiotic people will still selfishly go out. This is the first time I’ve ever felt embarrassed to be British. Other countries are enforcing bans while we are saying “suit yourself but it’s not a good idea”.

typewrriter12 · 16/03/2020 17:23

Does anyone think teachers will now walk out?

DivisionBelles · 16/03/2020 17:23

@CharlieTangoBanana our business interruption insurance doesn't cover infectious diseases. Not sure if this is standard or not.

nancypineapple · 16/03/2020 17:23

So we are now to self isolate as a family for 14 days due to my youngest being ill? She has been diagnosed with pneumonia now but temp all gone. Still not been offered a covid 19 test.....

ClientQueen · 16/03/2020 17:23

@picklemewalnuts nope. And my boss won't be too happy. I can't get hold of my consultant or see the GP
This is a recent supporting letter I have

Bet the local pub round the corner is still rammed on Friday night!

CharlieTangoBanana · 16/03/2020 17:24

By not ordering businesses to close they are also protecting the bottom line of big insurance companies.

Destinysdaughter · 16/03/2020 17:24

Those Italy figures are horrific. So so sad and scared.

MurrayTheMonk · 16/03/2020 17:25

Yes why on earth don't they just shut everything non essential and stop the sports-most of which have stopped themselves already but some -Herts girls FA I'm looking at you -are still playing...

nellodee · 16/03/2020 17:25

As I said, it's the Food Bank version of dealing with the Corona Virus.

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 17:25

I fear italy will look like nothing the way its going to spread in the uk.

nellodee · 16/03/2020 17:26

Ha, he's reduced it from being 4 weeks behind to 3 weeks behind Italy.

Liar, liar, liar.

originalcatlady · 16/03/2020 17:26

Our business insurance has said they won't pay out anyway, since Covid-19 isn't on the list of notifiable diseases - despite the fact it didn't exist when the policy was written!

nellodee · 16/03/2020 17:26

Its 2 weeks, and you knew that all along.

YellowPinkie · 16/03/2020 17:26

So our 3 year old has been coughing maybe once every half hour today. Is that persistent?

VivaLeBeaver · 16/03/2020 17:27

Shit, that's dd at home for 12 weeks.

nellodee · 16/03/2020 17:27

Tha's disgraceful @originalcatlady

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 17:27

Lewis Goodall -'PM: "When it comes to curfews we are keeping all measures under review." '

PleaseStopCrying · 16/03/2020 17:27

Nothing to suggest catching it more than once is anything but rare. However given that we are hardly testing how can he be so sure its a rare occurance??

VivaLeBeaver · 16/03/2020 17:28

Yeah the bloody figures have always shown 2 weeks behind and we all said that the day they said 4 weeks. They're either fucking stupid or think we are.

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 17:28

Benjamin Kentish - 'Professor Chris Whitty effectively admits the UK does not currently have the capacity to even test NHS workers for coronavirus. Astonishing.'

Matt Chorley - 'Boris Johnson, asked about using emergency powers to force people to comply with controls, replies: “We are a mature, grown up and liberal democracy.”'

CrunchyCarrot · 16/03/2020 17:29

For anyone wondering what the health conditions are for which you'd have a flu vaccination, they're listed on the NHS page:
