He seemed pleased that old person had it mildly so he could use her as an anecdote, he does know that anecdotes dont equal data...

nellodee · 16/03/2020 17:06

Moderate illness does NOT mean they can EASILY manage it at home!

Givemeabreakpls · 16/03/2020 17:07

When will the govt have the legislation in place to enforce any of this?

Ventilatorshortage · 16/03/2020 17:07

2nd group, indirect death , inability to get medical care.

ClientQueen · 16/03/2020 17:07

I wish they would say which health conditions. My doctors have no appointments and I can't get hold of my consultant

MarshaBradyo · 16/03/2020 17:07

Exactly NHS overwhelmed they are the ones - yes good stop that

waspfig · 16/03/2020 17:08

There are broadly 3 groups of deaths we should consider.

Direct - caused by corona itself
Indirect - If NHS is overwhelmed people die due to lack of medical care
Death caused by Negative impacts on health caused by isolation and restrictions

Ventilatorshortage · 16/03/2020 17:08

I'm signing my children off school.

Fairineouf · 16/03/2020 17:08

Greentea93 you said, and I quote and yesterday a healthy 21 y old Spanish youth sports coach. He wasn't healthy. The poor man had leukaemia. You're scaremongering and you think i'm "rude" for suggesting people check facts first? Did I single you out by name? No I did not.

FFS there are enough scary facts out there without peddling misinformation.

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 17:08

London is going to mostly ignore the advice and we going to probably make Italy look like no one has died what with our numbers. I fucking dispair.

Ventilatorshortage · 16/03/2020 17:08

If the force us to send them in. We are in self isolation now until Easter

BarbedBloom · 16/03/2020 17:09

I hope someone asks about vulnerable groups and also PPE for medical staff. Also what about pay for isolating people

waspfig · 16/03/2020 17:09

Very unclear what he's trying to say now

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 17:09

Steven Swinford -
'Chris Whitty, chief medical officer, says Coronavirus can lead to fatalities in three ways:

  1. Direct deaths - caused by Coronavirus itself
  1. Indirect deaths - if the NHS becomes overwhelmed
  1. Deaths caused by negative effects of actions put in place stop spread.;
waspfig · 16/03/2020 17:10

People who in adult life would normally have flu vaccine

Women who are pregnant

Those who are elderly

Vulnerable groups defined

NeurotrashWarrior · 16/03/2020 17:10

Flu vaccine people

its2019ffs · 16/03/2020 17:10

I've never wanted to punch someone's face so much in my life!

MadameF · 16/03/2020 17:10

No legislation, just advice. Such a contrast to here in France!

waspfig · 16/03/2020 17:10

Plus immuno compromised people

CharlieTangoBanana · 16/03/2020 17:11

I have respiratory failure but I'm not in the group that needs to isolate or even socially distance

ofwarren · 16/03/2020 17:11

BREAKING: Italy reports 3,233 new cases of coronavirus and 349 new deaths, raising total to 27,980 cases and 2,158 dead t.co/eUoE2b20hL

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 17:11

I can tell you come Thursday everywhere near me will just be as busy as normal.

PleaseStopCrying · 16/03/2020 17:11

If you're in a house with someone with corona virus?? How would you know for sure as they are not testing suspected cases.

BarbedBloom · 16/03/2020 17:12

I assume this includes immune suppressed/comprised?

turkeyontheplate · 16/03/2020 17:12

I get the flu vaccine because of diabetes and hypertension, those conditions weren't mentioned though?

Why the hell can't they just spell it out?!
