We're implementing many of these things earlier than other countries, apparently.

mumoftwodc · 16/03/2020 17:02

"All gatherings"- surely schools?!

danni0509 · 16/03/2020 17:02

CMO

We're implementing measures earlier in the epidemic than some countries.

Whole household isolation for 14 days

Increased social distancing to delay transmission (home working, reduce travel, avoid gatherings BIG or SMALL

Specific measures for vulnerable groups (12 weeks or longer)

MarshaBradyo · 16/03/2020 17:02

12 weeks we’re the first to say that

Madhairday · 16/03/2020 17:02

This is scary

MarshaBradyo · 16/03/2020 17:02

I think

BeardedMum · 16/03/2020 17:02

Should people not just refuse to send children to school? They are playing with lives.

Originalyellowbelly · 16/03/2020 17:03

No school closures

kirinm · 16/03/2020 17:03

Can they give us some further info on who the hell counts as vulnerable??

MarshaBradyo · 16/03/2020 17:03

Someone will ask about schools they’d better

CrapTVAddict · 16/03/2020 17:03

Wouldn't avoiding gatherings include school then?

confusedandtired99 · 16/03/2020 17:03

I haven’t sent my children to school!

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 17:03

@BeardedMum Schools have been told to keep fining parents for absences.

SpeckledFrogsLog · 16/03/2020 17:03

So if I’m 5 days into my own self isolation does that mean I stay self isolated from the family for another 2 days and the whole family go into self isolation for 9 days from today?

waspfig · 16/03/2020 17:03

Chris witty

This disease is still at a low level in this country but will now accelerate rapidly

PleaseStopCrying · 16/03/2020 17:04

So he literally just said gatherings can be small and should be avoided but in the next breath he said we're not closing schools... They have no fucking clue!!!

SistemaAddict · 16/03/2020 17:04

I want to cry. I'm so glad I've got all of you keeping me company Thanks

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 17:04

Christopher Hope - 'Sir Patrick Vallance: "We are entering the fast growth period; London is ahead of others parts of the country."
If one person gets the symptoms the whole household should be isolated for 14 days.
Unnecessary travel should be reduced and stopped.'

MarshaBradyo · 16/03/2020 17:05

It’s bloody surreal

maudspellbody · 16/03/2020 17:05

No actual 'measures' just 'advice'

Bollocks. Total, ineffective bollocks

CharlieTangoBanana · 16/03/2020 17:05

Chris Titty - ”let me start on a cheery note" unfuckingbelievabe

waspfig · 16/03/2020 17:05

Overall mortality rate is under 1% on current data

TheElementsOfMedical · 16/03/2020 17:06

This disease is still at a low level in this country but will now accelerate rapidly

What happened to "flatten the curve" eh??

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 17:06

Matthew Goodwin - ' "The good news is the chances of dying are very low. Of those who have symptoms majority will have mild or moderate disease and will not need the NHS. Overall mortality rate a bit less than 1%"'
