2 weeks isolation.

Pickledbrain1 · 16/03/2020 16:00

Surely they know how many have died? I don’t understand why other countries can manage to add up their numbers but we can’t?

silenceattheback · 16/03/2020 16:01

I wonder if the pm cobra meeting is happening so late as they were waiting on the WHO advice .....

Government are going to look like a bunch of clowns now if they go against WHO advice

Ventilatorshortage · 16/03/2020 16:01

Young people and children die. Even in developed countries they have struggled to cope.
WHO

MarshaBradyo · 16/03/2020 16:02

Lol Yolo

If they go quiet I’m going secretly nuts.

perhapstomorrow · 16/03/2020 16:02

Hope the government heed this advice, but doubt it very much.

1happyhippie · 16/03/2020 16:02

We are doing this so wrong!
2 weeks isolation period and test every case.

I wish the WHO could force the uk to follow their advice

Foobydoo · 16/03/2020 16:02

'Under 60s also at risk'
'Children have died'
WHO statement.

TokyoSushi · 16/03/2020 16:03

Wow, that WHO advice is going to put the cat amongst the governments pigeons!

They're going to need to massively change what they're doing, surely?

WhyNotMe40 · 16/03/2020 16:04

I think Italy are now only testing hospital cases as well now? Or am I wrong?

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 16:05

Kate McCann - 'WHO message to Governments: “Test, test, test... test everyone with symptoms”. Last week UK Gov said it would not longer test everyone, only those in hospital. PHE can test 4,000 per day, up to 10,000 soon but it’s nowhere near enough. An impossible ask?
WHO also warns people with the virus can remain infectious after 7 days when symptoms have subsided, so call for two week isolation to stop the spread.'

Ventilatorshortage · 16/03/2020 16:06

Children have died!!

Finallyatooth · 16/03/2020 16:06

I'm so torn on what to do.

I'm in the fortunate position of being able to work from home. I could in theory keep my son at home if I needed to. I wish that the Government would say it's up to individuals until they decide otherwise.

1happyhippie · 16/03/2020 16:07

The government better be ready to show this scientific module they are following to show us why they believe they know more!

This is ridiculous. They are more or less doing the absolute opposite to what’s advised!

Silversun83 · 16/03/2020 16:07

@bananacakeZ - what uni are you? Still nothing from mine, apart from that they are 'working on business continuity plans" and hope to be able to move some teaching online in next few weeks.

Helenj1977 · 16/03/2020 16:07

I wish the WHO could help us.

Beebityboo · 16/03/2020 16:08

I thought there had been no deaths of children as a result of the virus?!

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 16:08

Daniel Hewitt - 'World Health Organisation also calling for longer isolation periods. "People infected with #COVID19 can still infect others after they stop feeling sick, so these measures should continue for at least 2 weeks after symptoms disappear."'

Originalyellowbelly · 16/03/2020 16:09

I hope our gov takes notice and stop sticking their heads in the sand.

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 16:09

From midnight the borders of Spain are closed and only Spanish citizens can enter.

bananacakeZ · 16/03/2020 16:09

Silver not wishing to out myself too much but a post-92 in the East Midlands

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 16:10

Beth Rigby - 'PM press conference with @CMO_England
and @uksciencechief expected at 4.45pm today.'

nellodee · 16/03/2020 16:10

Is there a link to the WHO release?

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 16:10

Sky News Breaking - 'World Health Organisation Director-General says he has a simple message to countries on how to deal with covid-19 - "Test, test, test" '.

perhapstomorrow · 16/03/2020 16:11

Having watched the WHO news conference I am getting more and more concerned. We don't seem to be doing anything right! I was starting to think that maybe there was something in the strategy the Government were following, now I'm not so sure.
