So nearly 4000 passengers were allowed to go on their merry way untested...

Andrew Neil - 'Austrian Airlines to terminate ALL regular flight operations starting Wednesday night, in response to entry bans being imposed across the globe and a rapid decline in demand for air travel. First of many, I suspect.'

Hellsbells123098 · 16/03/2020 13:41

I cannot see anyone updated the COBRA meeting time if we know it? Sorry if I’ve missed it I’m just wondering when the next update will be.

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 13:41

Wales Online - 'Thirty new cases of coronavirus have been diagnosed in Wales which brings the overall total to 124. Newport has the highest number of new cases (7), followed by Caerphilly (3), Cardiff (3) and Monmouthshire (2) The only local authorities in Wales with no known cases are Denbighshire, Gwynedd and Merthyr Tydfil.'

Angryrant55 · 16/03/2020 13:42

@Hellsbells123098. Press conference later this afternoon time to be announced.

Alone07 · 16/03/2020 13:43

I dont know what is going to happen when the shtf when the peak happens.
I've just been waiting on call to 111 for an hour as dd who has been Ill for over a week has been getting worse.
Temp of over 40 and chesty cough.
Was phoned back after the initial call within 30 mins and was told to phone my gp and tell them 111 said to and they would electronically send the info I had already gave them.
So I then phone doctor who I was on hold for just over an hour again, spoke to receptionist and they said they would call me back.
Wait another 30 mins to be told to wait at home and if it gets worse to phone 999! Wtf
I said look not be horrible I know it's not you fault but my daughter is 4, she has had a high temp for over a week and a chesty cough.
What if it's a chest Infection? Or something else.
She isnt at the point she needs 999 and if she was seen then hopefully it wouldn't get to that point.
I have a doctor phoning me back, how on earth are they going to cope In a few weeks.

Tessatea · 16/03/2020 13:46

I also have the heavy weight feeling in my chest. Started 2 days ago. Only notice it when I'm laying down

Hellsbells123098 · 16/03/2020 13:47

@Angryrant55 thank you

AspergersMum · 16/03/2020 13:48

I agree Alone07, 111 can't cope and neither can GPs now. There will be so many deaths not just from covid but from people not being able to access help for other problems, or GPs not seeing problems that patients have that they don't mention as its all telephone consults here now. It is so scary already and we're just at the start.

AspergersMum · 16/03/2020 13:50

Alone07 having said that, sorry your DD is unwell and hope she feels better soon.

nellodee · 16/03/2020 13:54

Using non verifiable sources from completely unreliable websites, I have calculated that the risk to an otherwise healthy adult from contracting Covid 19 is precisely the same as going hang gliding twice. Never say I am not a source of valuable facts and figures.

nellodee · 16/03/2020 13:55

Hope your daughter turns the corner soon, Alone.

Helenj1977 · 16/03/2020 14:01

@Alone07 That's shocking. The best thing to do is stay calm. She'll panic if you panic. Fingers crossed she gets better soon.

If your really worried, phone 999. There is no other option now x

Helenj1977 · 16/03/2020 14:02

Anyone else not really interested in today's figures? It's not the real picture is it.

picklemewalnuts · 16/03/2020 14:02

Agree with Helen.

The advice at the moment seems to be manage without healthcare unless you need emergency healthcare.

waspfig · 16/03/2020 14:03

I'm just wondering about schools/nurseries being forced to stay open.

What happens to the staff/child ratio?

It exists to keep children safe. If it is exceeded, eg by having one teacher for 2 classes etc and something bad were to happen to a pupil (or younger child in nursery) who would be responsible? How does this tie in with the school and local authority's duty of care for the children?

Helenj1977 · 16/03/2020 14:05

1543 for what it's worth. Absolute joke. Let's not test everyone so we look good.

ofwarren · 16/03/2020 14:06

BREAKING: UK coronavirus cases rise to 1,543 as 171 more patients test positive t.co/xRTGpg0T05 t.co/mon0dqhWDD

WhyNotMe40 · 16/03/2020 14:07

No deaths? That's got to be good?

Lotuscup563 · 16/03/2020 14:08

Is that the new UK figure?

danni0509 · 16/03/2020 14:09

Yes new figure is 1543 for U.K.

Not an accurate figure since we are barely testing.

ofwarren · 16/03/2020 14:09

I don't know about deaths. I haven't been keeping track. Still staying away a bit really.

Lotuscup563 · 16/03/2020 14:10

That’s not a true figure of the cases in the country though, just the people in hospitals now...so that’s a huge jump!

danni0509 · 16/03/2020 14:10

@Lotuscup563 exactly what I thought! That's just from the hospitals.
