DD had temp of 38.2 and sore throat. Do I send her to school tomorrow?

I hope schools are quick to stop leaning on parents of students with less than 97.5% attendance. Our school chases it up with letters so quickly. Parents can feel quite intimidated by this.

No one should have any doubts that keeping a poorly child at home right now is vital.

Cervois · 15/03/2020 19:47

Wow. I think we can all agree Google is your friend in the future, not MN Blush

Hope she’s better soon!

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 15/03/2020 19:47

What. The. Hell. Of course not. Are you not seeing the same thing everyone else is seeing? It doesn't matter what you think the cause is, just follow the guidance.

voddiekeepsmesane · 15/03/2020 19:47

I am all for being kind but sorry ignorance is not bliss and not an excuse

Teateaandmoretea · 15/03/2020 19:47

People are so vile on here. Calling me stupid and a moron. Take a look at your nasty vicious selves.

^^agree totally we need to pull together, people will ask daft questions it's just part of it. People can't quite believe what's happening, it doesn't feel real. It's not time for 'perfect non-spreader' competitions.

lunar1 · 15/03/2020 19:48

Does everyone replying with shitty comments realise that people come here for help, and you are all going to put them off asking.

Because of this thread the OP and many others are now better informed. She didn't know, so asked. That's 100% more important that being too scared to ask.

gottastopeatingchocolate · 15/03/2020 19:48

Sorry to side track, but a PP asked about paracetamol or ibuprofen.

I read that ibuprofen should not be given as it can aggravate the coronavirus.

supercee · 15/03/2020 19:48

Jesus fucking WEPT.

MimiLaRue · 15/03/2020 19:48

NO

Mary1935 · 15/03/2020 19:48

People need to keep informed on a daily basis - we need to be watching the news, listening to news on radio or in your car.
There have been a couple of people asking similar questions.
Let’s not have a go at the OP.
The advice is clear.
Maybe people doubt the advice or feel anxious and fearful.
It shows it’s not getting through to everyone.
OP do not go out all week. You need to get someone to help with food shopping.
Do not have visitors.
Take care and I hope your daughter feels better soon.

Jayfee · 15/03/2020 19:48

Noooooo!

Teateaandmoretea · 15/03/2020 19:49

Wow. I think we can all agree Google is your friend in the future, not MN

I don't agree personally but snark away

Standinguptononsense · 15/03/2020 19:49

Really. FFS.

hurryupautumn · 15/03/2020 19:49

@lunar1 @Teateaandmoretea - thank you both. Xx

All the nopes!

Coronaremoaner · 15/03/2020 19:49

No OP.

On a separate note, are you supposed to self isolate with a fever even if you know it’s not due to coronavirus?

Mummyoflittledragon · 15/03/2020 19:49

You don’t need to speak to the head. There will be lots of people doing the same and not all will be genuine but because the parents are choosing to isolate v

Cervois · 15/03/2020 19:49

My husband wouldn’t have known either if I hadn’t told him. He has health anxiety so has turned off all notifications about it on his phone, he’s already started relapsing and pacing around the house. Some people just can’t cope with reading about it.

I’m the complete opposite!

oatmilk4breakfast · 15/03/2020 19:50

Do not send her to school!

sunshinesupermum · 15/03/2020 19:50

DGS1 has a cough but no temperature (yet) DD is self isolating him for seven days as is the official advice given. HTH hurryupautumn

Teateaandmoretea · 15/03/2020 19:50

read that ibuprofen should not be given as it can aggravate the coronavirus.

YEP ME TOO. THIS IS IMPORTANT.

Cervois · 15/03/2020 19:50

@Teateaandmoretea will do!

Mummyoflittledragon · 15/03/2020 19:50

Coroanaremoaner
Yes!!

RuffleCrow · 15/03/2020 19:51

No!!! You should have received a letter from her school advising no-one with a temperature and cough or just a temperature should be at school.

But what decent parent knowingly sends a child to school with a fever even at the best of times?! Hmm No wonder schools are bredding grounds.

oatmilk4breakfast · 15/03/2020 19:51

Sorry sent before finished. Even if not CV, the govt guidance is that anyone with temp should stay home. Hope she feels better soon x
