OMG hurryupautumn you complain about people calling you stupid and a moron but step back and look at your OP in the light of what is happening in the world at the moment. For the past 8 weeks a pandemic has surrounded us. Yet you have to ask the question of whether keeping a child at home with one of the main symptoms?! palm to face here

UnexpectedItemInTheShaggingAre · 15/03/2020 19:37

Oh OP, I hope you’re alright. Bed yourself in for a week of “indoor camping” and similar such activities.
Do you have everything in that you need?
All the best x

coconuttelegraph · 15/03/2020 19:38

What guidelines are you all referring to? I don't read or watch the news so I'm not really up to date with what's going on

Are there really people so stupidly idiotic that in the middle of a pandemic they don't bother to keep up with the news. How selfish to expect other people to tell you, have you heard of google?

Elouera · 15/03/2020 19:38

OP- I hope you've given your DD some paracetamol or ibuprofen to bring the fever down and make her feel a bit better?

voddiekeepsmesane · 15/03/2020 19:38

There really is no excuse for ignorance in this it is everywhere

hurryupautumn · 15/03/2020 19:38

@voddiekeepsmesane - well at least I checked! It all feels a bit surreal still. Never experienced anything like this before. I'm not an expert

I do feel for you OP. I asked a simular question when I was told by work to come in and got similar abuse. It's hard when school and work say come in. Both my daughter's have a cough and although my eldest seems to be absolutely fine (youngest less so) I'll be keeping them both at home for a week.

Mummyoflittledragon · 15/03/2020 19:38

Wow this thread has become tense. Just remember folks, the shit storm that is coming and the way this is phased “herd immunity” is being handled is not ops fault. This was only announced Friday. There are going to be questions.

hurryupautumn · 15/03/2020 19:39

@Rosebel / thank you! I appreciate that. I'll keep her at home.

I am 47 and never experienced anything like this either do you think you are some special case???

Be informed FFS

lunar1 · 15/03/2020 19:40

This is why schools need to close, then the decision is made for everyone. There is too much at stake to risk it. We don't all have 100% up to date information the moment it's released.

hurryupautumn · 15/03/2020 19:41

@lunar1 - agreed.

@alexdgr8 pleaze?

Quarantined · 15/03/2020 19:42

I know there's a lot of uncertainty, but a high temperature is the one thing that is not subjective and you can be completely certain of. What a stupid question. I hope other people have more sense.

Ozziewozzie · 15/03/2020 19:42

To be fair to OP, there have been many posts in here where parents are aware of the guidelines but when phoning the school, the school have said to send the child in.
Op, we all need to follow the guidelines in the hope that they have been made with expert advice in mind. I wouldn’t send her in for at least 7 days.

hurryupautumn · 15/03/2020 19:43

@welshpolarbear - yes, really.

Look I get that people are frustrated but please can we be kind to each other. Everyone is worried and we all deal we ith things in our own way. Some folk find it so anxiety inducing they wont keep up to date. And whilst ignorance is bliss isn't an ideal situation it is a reality for some.
Be kind. We need to help each other.

hurryupautumn · 15/03/2020 19:45

@Ozziewozzie I won't be sending her to school. I'll call the school in the morning and speak to the headmistress.

voddiekeepsmesane · 15/03/2020 19:46

OK really don't think any school would be " yeah sure send your child in with a temperature" at this point

hurryupautumn · 15/03/2020 19:47

@inmyshoos it would be nice. I've had some really good and I'd from mumsnet over the years...
