Its 1372 cases

DonkeyKong2019 · 15/03/2020 15:41

That's clear the testing has been so scaled back

nellodee · 15/03/2020 15:41

That's a horrible figure. It makes the log graph go from a straight line to one curving upwards. You do NOT want your log graph to start curving up.

Bloody hell.

nellodee · 15/03/2020 15:41

1372... that's much better. Phew.

nellodee · 15/03/2020 15:42

Sorry, my little freak out there was when someone said 1826.

Oakmaiden · 15/03/2020 15:43

Holy Macaroni. That is 20% of the (not very many) tests carried out that were positive.

Helenj1977 · 15/03/2020 15:43

Wheres is that figure?

Number12 · 15/03/2020 15:43

35 dead though... That was 21 yesterday.

Eeyoresstickhouse · 15/03/2020 15:43

14 more deaths. Up to 35. So heartbreaking for those families.

Delatron · 15/03/2020 15:44

I’m looking at the 35 deaths rather than the 1372 cases which shouldn’t reassure anyone as it’s not a true reflection of the current situation.

Macca84 · 15/03/2020 15:44

Probably because they're testing far fewer people too. I'd say the true number of infected is more like 20,000

HeyPizza · 15/03/2020 15:44

@Helenj1977 - I think the numbers come out first on Twitter - if you follow @DHSCgovuk

Oakmaiden · 15/03/2020 15:45

And 35 deaths??? Another 14 in one day? and Yet as far as released figures go we only had 20 in critical care yesterday. Pfft. There is no transparency.

fedup21 · 15/03/2020 15:46

So they tested half the number of people than the previous day. 2500 odd as opposed to 4900.

Ooh, aren’t Boris’s plans working so well Angry.

#boristhebutcher.

Angryrant55 · 15/03/2020 15:46

Matthew Goodwin - 'Striking partisan divide in attitudes to #coronavirus in US.

"Worried family member will get it"
Republicans 40%
Democrats 68%

"Worst is yet to come"
Republicans 40%
Democrats 79% '

Janemarpling · 15/03/2020 15:46

So the increase is hospital cases?

confusedandtired99 · 15/03/2020 15:46

Where are you getting those figures from? The Gov website is still showing results for the 14th

KenAdams · 15/03/2020 15:47

Wow increase is low guys! Boris plans are working! All hail our dear leader!

Delatron · 15/03/2020 15:47

35 x 800 is 28,000. So that is more likely the realistic figure. I don’t have the source for that calculation but was from a reliable article I was reading earlier.

WhoWants2Know · 15/03/2020 15:47

And someone will be along to explain that all 14 were already suffering from other illnesses. Just like half the people on the thread.

oneteen · 15/03/2020 15:48

Death rate is I think the same as Italy 14 days ago....

Number12 · 15/03/2020 15:48

Im wondering if they stopped testing every one because it would show up their 1% fatality rate as being way off the mark? How can we know what the mortality rate is if we don't know how many have it? They have never shown how they came up with that figure.

Where the fuck is boris?

lubeybooby · 15/03/2020 15:48

so what are the true figures if we extrapolate from the deaths? I can't remember the figures to calculate it

Maggie272 · 15/03/2020 15:48

@Alice02132354 you're right. Sorry to jump on here, I'm not in the UK but we are all watching from across the pond. It's hard to believe your govt is putting so many people in danger. It's not just over 70s, there are young people who are very vulnerable, there are older people who live with their families. Your health service is going to be crippled if the schools don't close. I'm in Ireland, and they have started closing pubs and they have closed churches, schools, Uni etc. We are testing as many people as we can. For the sake of your vulnerable citizen's I hope Boris is right, but if, Italy, Spain, France etc are anything to go by, it certainly does look like the horse has bolted and the govt are standing by watching it
