Twitter of the PHE website don't seem to have changed though... Where on your FB did you see it?

MarshaBradyo · 15/03/2020 15:32

Every day will be a shocking increase. Until the other side.

Angryrant55 · 15/03/2020 15:33

Buzzfeed - 'Ministers will on Monday urge Downing Street to revamp its strategy for communicating information about coronavirus to the public, following intense criticism of its messaging over the last week.

The changes demanded by ministers include:

A daily live televised briefing to provide clearer updates to the British public.

Short Cold War-style public information films aired at prime time on the BBC, and during advertisement breaks on other channels, giving clear advice on what the government is doing and what the public should do.

Wraparound advertisements in all newspapers displaying information graphics with up-to-date advice in bullet point form.

A single figure to lead on communications, rather than different voices appearing in the media saying different things.'

So would that be + 1826 cases or total 1826 cases?

Oakmaiden · 15/03/2020 15:34

@Angryrant55 That would help, I think.

MarshaBradyo · 15/03/2020 15:34

Hope they do that Angryrant

Concerned we seek out messages on here but many don’t.

Angryrant55 · 15/03/2020 15:35

Surlry total.

Coffeewithmyoxyg3n · 15/03/2020 15:35

Woken up today with a temperature, sore throat and feel like I've been hit by a bus. Logically I know it's probably just same sore throat my DD had last week and not coronavirus but still worrying as feel so awful, basically slept all day. DD is asthmatic so will be keeping her off from this week and am a lucky one who can wfh this week too while I self isolate. But so scared of it infecting her as she is already on oral steroids for her asthma and a normal cold goes straight to her chest. Last time she had flu she was hospitalised Sad

Wish they would test still as I just want to get it now before it all kicks off so can be there if someone close to me gets it and help.

SabineSchmetterling · 15/03/2020 15:35

I can’t find the figures up yet. Hopefully it won’t be quite that high.

MarshaBradyo · 15/03/2020 15:36

Also people are so stoked up about what isn’t happening or is that simple messages on what they should be doing needs to be said over and over.

Oakmaiden · 15/03/2020 15:36

Agreed - hoping that someone has posted something inaccurate on FB which the pp saw...

Lumene · 15/03/2020 15:36

Where is the 1800 figure coming from?

Summersunandoranges · 15/03/2020 15:37

I called in to Lidl this morning and it was an absolute joke. There was a crowd of people waiting for it to open, some idiots was calling out ‘don’t nick all the Savoy cabbages’ and they all rushed in. Some of the shelves were still empty and people were only allowed to buy 5 items of the same product. There was a weird air of excitement and rushing, people were enjoying it. There was a lady stood by the fridge, holding the door open (who didn’t work there) handing packs of chicken out to people Confused

I turned round and walked out and drove over to Tesco’s - which was completely normal.

Oakmaiden · 15/03/2020 15:38

I would quite like a video where they have people coughing and say - this is a cough to self isolate over, but coughing in these situations (just got a lungful of dust etc) isn't. I think the "persistent cough" is confusing people. How persistent is persistent?

Alice02132354 · 15/03/2020 15:38

Guys I don't think you're getting it. We are absolutely going to be worse than Italy (in terms of new cases)... we're just not testing. Make no mistake, there is a HUGE number of people out there who have it. The 111 line was giving out the wrong advice to people returning from Italy for 2 days straight.. telling them they needn't self-isolate.

The cat is out of the bag, the horse has bolted, milk is all over the carpet, the chewing gum is in the hair, the condom has split. I made the last 2 up.
You are not going to just switch this off. This is why we're saying elderly must stay inside. We're going to be much worse than Italy but hopefully not in terms of fatalities.

Sunshinesky1981 · 15/03/2020 15:38

@Angryrant55 Am thinking it must be, but that is a horrific jump. But will be interesting to see how many were tested to get that result. Are we already moving into a situation where if you have a cough/cold/temperature that it is just as statistically likely to be Covid19 as another type of virus/infection

woodpigeons · 15/03/2020 15:39

Thank you @Oakmaiden

MarshaBradyo · 15/03/2020 15:40

Alice good post and yep.

Oakmaiden · 15/03/2020 15:40

Has it ever been this late before? Where do they normally post it - other than the main PHE page and twitter...?

Delatron · 15/03/2020 15:40

The numbers are going to be meaningless as we are only testing hospital cases and nobody in the community.

Unfortunately it will be the death rate that will give us an indication of the actual numbers.

DonkeyKong2019 · 15/03/2020 15:40

1372 and 35 dead

todayisnottuesday · 15/03/2020 15:41

Where's the 1800 figure from?

HeyPizza · 15/03/2020 15:41
