Self Isolating? Share your symptoms & boredom!

Aegna · 15/03/2020 07:30

Morning! My kids and I have developed coughs (no fever) over the weekend, my husband also took himself off to bed yesterday afternoon with headache and aches and hasn't been seen since! So it's on the self isolation train for us...

Is there anyone else self isolating this week, would you mind sharing your symptoms? Who knows if we have it as can't get tested (and haven't been in contact with anyone that we know of!) but I feel we fit the criteria of a new persistent cough (and before anyone says you have to have a fever like I've seen on other threads it clearly says OR in the guidelinesSmile) xx

It's impossible to get through to 111 by the way

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 17/03/2020 17:08

Day 5 of self isolation. Chest is really sore, cough is getting nastier and my temperature is back up.

Dh is driving me up a wall. Dc1 found the secret stash of haribo and dc2 just wants to go out.

ClientQueen · 17/03/2020 17:11

No symptoms but I fall under the 12 weeks so have been sent home from work with immediate effect

H1978 · 17/03/2020 17:11

@ TiddleTaddleTat thank you, the advice can be a bit confusing with it changing every day

Piggywaspushed · 17/03/2020 17:20

Anyone else not sure if their bouts of not being able to breathe are panic attacks? Really hard to tell.

I find there is very limited advice as to when symptoms would be bad enough to go to hospital : not that I want to go there!

It's very helpful that Nadine Dorries explained how she felt and the doctor lady but they sound like they were in a terrible state.

Nadine had advice on tap, of course, and the other lady is a doctor.

Out of interest, anyone know how Idris Elba got tested?

Anyone else finding their coughing spells are worse in the afternoon/evening.

And then they are combined with dizzy spells

Piggywaspushed · 17/03/2020 17:58

Yes, I am better on side,

Wish I could go downstairs to my lovely recliner where I often go when I have insomnia!

TiddleTaddleTat · 17/03/2020 18:15

Yes my coughing is definitely worse in afternoon / evening.
I have most energy in the morning.
If I do too much - eg. talking, minor physical exertion - my temperature seems to spike and I can get breathless. Stress makes my temp spike too.
I'm on day 5 and feeling better than yesterday.

smallgreyelephant · 17/03/2020 18:20

Hello,
Day 1/14 self-isolation:
DD2 temp 40.1 yesterday. Under control now but spiked again today 39.9.
Came on VERY quickly (5pm wolfing down dinner after 90 minutes playing, 5:30pm shivering and hot to touch). Treated with Calpol.
Also some shortness of breath (SOB) as if she had walked very quickly up a steep hill. She has very mild asthma. We got SOB under control with inhaler and we have a humidifyer. SOB didn't last long.
Some coughing, increasing in frequency. She has slept pretty much all day. She is OK and I'm monitoring closely
111 is overwhelmed and not testing.
I'm getting a huge headache now.
Wish us luck!

Piggywaspushed · 17/03/2020 19:45

Stress definitely makes me worse.

And now I have terrible heartburn and have just read that ranitidine was recalled after raiding my drawer. Gah.

SugarSugarShimmy · 17/03/2020 21:22

@Piggywaspushed it wasn’t withdrawn in UK. Sure it won’t hurt you this time!

SugarSugarShimmy · 17/03/2020 21:24

@TiddleTaddleTat ooh me too. I’m day 9 and took myself out of isolation as I’ve not had any temps over 37.7 today but still anytime I exert myself I sweat!

Piggywaspushed · 18/03/2020 06:31

Thanks sugar. I took one in the end and it worked.

Anyone else like me so frustrated by lack of testing?

I can't get an online shop and soon we will need food. This is going to lead to people breaking their isolations, surely? If I was tested at least I'd know. I could be trapping myself and may family in the house for nothing.

Why aren't they testing? WHO says they should be, and Singapore and South Korea both put their relative success at combating the virus down to testing everyone/

We spend our lives sneering at trump and then do the same as him.

I had a much better night's sleep and have woken up and had a cup of tea. Might even manage some food later.

This is only Day 3. Still a bit hot and bothered and tight chested. Stil never had a cough.

TiddleTaddleTat · 18/03/2020 09:12

Piggy is there anyone that can drop food round for you?
Don't go to supermarkets etc please if you have symptoms, even if you don't think it's CV.

IamHyouweegobshite · 18/03/2020 09:16

Feeling worse today, right side of my chest feels very tight. Coughing loads. Still no temp. I don't think I've got coronavirus, I have a cold, snotty nose, headache. But then cough is really dry.

Piggywaspushed · 18/03/2020 09:52

I don't plan to : don't worry! I am just very very frustrated about the not knowing! Mainly because of DH and his heart condition. I need to know if I am safe around him. (not now but after) He has concluded I haven't got it simply by the fact he has not caught anything from me despite close contact (!) at the weekend.

I am acutely aware at the moment how isolated we are as a family but I know people on my estate will help if I ask.

They have now said they will let the elderly and vulnerable in supermarkets an hour early which is great. Sort of wondering how they will know who the non elderly vulnerable are! Likewise some online shopping says it will do that.

DS2's 16th birthday coming up soon and I feel sad about that?

You can tell I feel better because I am over thinking stuff today Sad

SheldonSaysSo1 · 18/03/2020 12:14

Just in case it helps anyone else I’ve been using a humidifier since I felt short of breath last night. It’s definitely helped and relieved things somewhat.

Nowabruptly · 18/03/2020 23:35

Hi everyone. Feeling a bit panicky as my husband complained of a sore throat and fluey feeling today, together with a “dry feeling” in his chest. He is sleeping in the spare room and I can now hear him coughing a dry cough every so often. No temperature. Took my children (primary school) our of school today and thought we might be able to stay safe, but now am terrified of what’s ahead and how we might each react to it. I always get a bad chest when I get ill so worried about myself too. Sorry to moan as everyone is going through this but can someone give me a bit of reassurance please?! I have had a bit of a temperature (no higher than 37.4) on and off for about three weeks and have generally felt pretty crap and have had awful headaches but no cough or high temp. Just beginning to feel better now. Wonder if I had it? Wishing you all a speedy recovery.

GrolliffetheDragon · 19/03/2020 22:10

If I have it is very mild do far. Dry cough, temperature, highest has been 38.9, and tiredness. I've felt very slightly breathless a few times, mainly morning and evening.

I wouldn't think anything of it if it wasn't for the pandemic and the fact that I don't get dry coughs, I only ever get horrendous, productive coughs that last for a month or so.
