Self Isolating? Share your symptoms & boredom!

Morning! My kids and I have developed coughs (no fever) over the weekend, my husband also took himself off to bed yesterday afternoon with headache and aches and hasn't been seen since! So it's on the self isolation train for us...

Is there anyone else self isolating this week, would you mind sharing your symptoms? Who knows if we have it as can't get tested (and haven't been in contact with anyone that we know of!) but I feel we fit the criteria of a new persistent cough (and before anyone says you have to have a fever like I've seen on other threads it clearly says OR in the guidelinesSmile) xx

Son coughing since Thursday and complained of sore throat with hoarse voice. I got a telephone appointment and he was prescribed antibiotics and monteleukast due to existing viral induced wheeze and previous hospitalization. We are abiding by 7 day isolation as he was not seen so who knows. I had headache , chills and sore throat but no fever or cough so would have had to go to work if not caring for son.

littlepeaegg · 16/03/2020 14:55

Been self isolating for nearly a week now! I've been poorly with cold/flu symptoms but temp is only at 37.5 so don't think it's corona! But work won't have me back until I am 100% better.

H1978 · 16/03/2020 14:59

Self isolating dd3(9 yrs) but has a very mild cough on waking up and going to bed but nothing all day but advised by school to keep her off

We’ve done some reading and maths and she’s done some stuff on the online programmes the school has but it’s only day 1

wingingit987 · 16/03/2020 15:11

I've woke up with a slight sore throat this morning but I have a very persistent dry cough. And abit of a headache. Had a temp of 37.8 this morning but it's back to normal now.

Hoping it's just a cold. But isolating myself for 7 days just in case.

Icare1234 · 16/03/2020 15:26

Dry cough when I speak and occasionally otherwise. No fever so most likely a cold but isolating to be on the safe side.

Lein · 16/03/2020 16:32

I had an extremely bad headache (came on really quick after just feeling a little tired) on Wed night it was so bad I was sick in the end and ended up taking codeine in the end (I occasionally get migraines but this was worse and I had no vision disturbances/light flashes that I usually get. I woke up in the night with a very sore throat and in the morning the headache was better (also usually not the case with migraines) plus I started a dry tickly cough on Thu morning. Thing is-on Tue school confirmed another parent had been tested positive. I do actually know the parent and see her at drop off every morning and she also has an older one in my older child’s class. So I am thinking it likely is Corona. I got time off work when I explained (don’t know if I will get paid as I only just started and have not got a contract yet) I applied for a test but then the rules changed that same day so I can’t get tested now. Very annoying. Now my husband is working from home. He is also not well. I have mild pleural chest pains and am very tired but managing relatively ok with paracetamol. School is still open as normal with a few kids/staff off but we decided not to send our kids in this week as we think there is a very good chance we do have Corona virus. I am ‘home schooling’ kids in the morning so they have some kind of normality and husband phoned our friendly elderly neighbours to stay away... it is hard esp not getting tested but we all have to try and remember it is much harder for those severely ill patients in hospital as well as all the doctors nurses and other hospital staff that are all doing their best and will be under immense pressure soon. So far the kids are both ok... we keep our fingers crossed as out oldest suffers with asthma.

Lein · 16/03/2020 16:37

@cocodomingo I also have had no fever. Definitely all of the other symptoms though.

cocodomingo · 16/03/2020 16:45

@Lein I also have this incredible tiredness. I've called the gp again as have needed iron tablets In the past. If this is the after effect of a mild case...i dont want to get it again...

Goldenbear · 16/03/2020 16:47

I was the same as Lein, on Thursday I had the start of an awful headache, paracetamol didn't work, Friday morning it was terrible, like my head was going to explode, I was sick as a result of it, I thought I was going to pass out so my husband came home from work. By Friday afternoon it had subsided but was still there. On Saturday I started to have a dry cough but the headache had gone, I have a very low temperature, so was 35.8 but went up to 36.2 today so maybe that is normal for me. Even when I had flu 2 years ago I did not have a fever but it was definitely the flu, couldn't move etc. I am working from home, something I can do as at the moment have what is essentially a cough!

Icare1234 · 16/03/2020 17:36

Had psyched myself up to manage a week isolating but don’t think I’ll cope with the 14 days now prescribed. Crying.

Greendayz · 16/03/2020 17:38

Me too @icare. Sad. DH is currently talking to DS about whether he should go to his hospital appointment tomorrow about something really important (non Coronovirus)

Greendayz · 16/03/2020 17:39

I have teenage DD too, and DSS who was hear all weekend. DD is really sociable and will go crazy in the house for a week. Haven't broken the news to her yet.

TiddleTaddleTat · 16/03/2020 17:47

My DH and DD are refusing to isolate for 14 days because I have a cough. They think I'm being hysterical. I'm too ill to fight it any longer.

Greendayz · 16/03/2020 17:58

Why on earth won't they sort out testing people? It's crazy that 5 people in my household (including 3 with jobs that need them) have to stay home for 14 days when I might or might not have it

IamHyouweegobshite · 17/03/2020 06:24

Yesterday my temp spiked for about an hour, I seem to have a very low temp, 35-36, my head started throbbing and it was 37.5. Still having a dry cough, to the point I end up wretching or peeing myself! Was freezing cold yest afternoon wearing a wooly jumper, had 2 blankets and a scarf on, shivering. Developed another head cold last night, very snotty, but still dry cough.
Didn't sleep well, now going to have everyone home, with the added worry that I'm not sure if I go into the 12week camp too, with asthma,

Piggywaspushed · 17/03/2020 06:33

Not testing is insane. I have had a fever for two days now. No cough. Not nice when coupled with inability to eat and panic attacks. Have self isolated and now DH and We will too and DS1 when he gets back from uni. DH is also in 22 week camp. Unclear what I do if untested. Go back to work in still open schools running the risk of getting infected if I'm not now.
And then put DH at risk all over again...

Have been keep g off MN but this looks a sensible thread.

Phoned 111 last night . They seem to think I have it. Luckily DH always in separate room because he is a giant snoring heat pack.

Seems well so far.

Didyeaye · 17/03/2020 06:41

@Cathster rotten timing for you! What will you do about your house move?

willdoitinaminute · 17/03/2020 07:12

I have had tight chest (like someone is sitting on it) temperature was a degree up on my normal base temp. Muscles aching and intermittent chills.
I had a much more severe version about a month ago where the cough felt like I was going to turn myself inside out. In fact it aggravated my piles which have not been a problem for years.
There is a suggestion that there are two mutations. Possibly I have had both now. May be wishful thinking though. I won’t know until they introduce a test to see if you have had it. Hopefully as a HCP we will be tested early on. Fortunately I work part time and both infections have occurred while on annual leave and timing meant that I was off when I was likely to be infectious but asymptomatic. I can’t work this week due to extended isolation period.

Day 9 and I'm going to release myself - feel a lot better!

TiddleTaddleTat · 17/03/2020 12:12

I'm starting to feel a little better today (day 6) although don't want to sing victory yet. I get waves of exhaustion still and am doing very little atm.

H1978 · 17/03/2020 12:25

2nd day of isolation for dd3 but she hasn’t been out at the weekend either it’s going ok I am planning some work with some relax time but she’s pretty good but asking when she can go back to school

I’m assuming after yesterday’s announcement I’ll now need to keep her off for 2 weeks rather than the 7 days previously advised....if the schools don’t close before then Confused

TiddleTaddleTat · 17/03/2020 13:04

I'm fairly sure it's still 7 days isolation for symptomatic person and 14 for rest of household (both calculated from symptom onset)
But as you say, guidance may well change by then

Wheezycheezeball · 17/03/2020 13:15

I have headache, dizziness, slight sore throat, and a weird ache tingle in my body. I don’t think I have CV as there’s no fever and the cough isn’t much of a feature. Kids both have runny noses.

IamHyouweegobshite · 17/03/2020 14:01

I'm not feeling too bad, still have periods of uncontrollable coughing, really difficult getting your breath under it. Head been hurting today. Temp fine. I don't think this is it. But we're all at home, and it seems a waste as normally would have gone to work.
