Self Isolating? Share your symptoms & boredom!

Morning! My kids and I have developed coughs (no fever) over the weekend, my husband also took himself off to bed yesterday afternoon with headache and aches and hasn't been seen since! So it's on the self isolation train for us...

Is there anyone else self isolating this week, would you mind sharing your symptoms? Who knows if we have it as can't get tested (and haven't been in contact with anyone that we know of!) but I feel we fit the criteria of a new persistent cough (and before anyone says you have to have a fever like I've seen on other threads it clearly says OR in the guidelinesSmile) xx

Cough started Friday, not consistent but persistent enough.chest pains and shortness of breath. Sore throat General aches and pains and feel knackered and broken. No fever though.

DH just came home from work with coldy symptoms, he's gone to bed.

I'm a teacher so have to develop some online learning materials, also watched three films yesterday (and slept), I fear that I'm going to also get drawn into a lot of pointless dramas on mumsnet.

Apologies for errors, I can't be arsed correcting them right now.

chuffoff · 15/03/2020 14:17

Low level sore throat and chills and aches came on 3 days ago. No fever but have been waking with night sweats past few nights. Have a dry cough that isn't massively persistent with a tight and crackly chest which is sometimes really painful when I do cough. Quite a persistent painful headache and am exhausted. Self isolating but would really love to know if this is it or not.

queenjaneappro · 15/03/2020 14:26

Temp is 38.2, muscle aches and slightly breathless when moving about.
Kids are with their dad and were due back today but going to stay with him.
Feeling really anxious I think because kids are away.

TulipsTulipsTulips · 15/03/2020 14:29

I’ve been self isolating since Wednesday. Getting lots of diy done!

msgreen · 15/03/2020 14:36

omg what’s WRONG with everyone,
Use some sense stay at home , you may only have a mild cold but spread that to some one else who is weaker than you
If they get covid as well they are in trouble
It’s hard to stay home we know but the only way to beat this is by giving a shit !!
About everyone else
The government have screwed up big time
Who can take them seriously when they where letting flights in from northern Italy
When it was on lock down , and they all just popped out of the airports here and went into the community
We have to act together as mums
please

TiddleTaddleTat · 15/03/2020 14:39

I'm self isolating but feel a bit of a hypochondriac if I'm honest.
Had diarrhoea on Tuesday, thought a bit odd but thought nothing of it. Wednesday afternoon felt really weird and spaced out, hot / chills and headache. Slight dry cough but not that frequent, go through sort of coughing fits then nothing for up to an hour.
I feel very lethargic and aches legs, get out of breath trying to do anything physical.
I've self isolated since Wednesday evening - not left the house.
The temperature thing is weird, I seem to get waves of feeling really hot but my temperature hasn't ever gone very high. Naturally it's quite cool around 35.8 (did a baseline last week when I bought thermometer ) and the highest I've recorded is 37.1, still in normal range though.
Think I will have to continue until at least this Weds.

TiddleTaddleTat · 15/03/2020 14:40

Tight chest too, although I tend to get this when anxious so I'm trying to not worry too much or read much on the news as I can't tell if it's illness or anxiety related.

Gwenhwyfar · 15/03/2020 14:42

I have a tight chest. No cough or fever. Am I right in thinking that the tight chest is a symptom of anxiety and nothing else? We're told not to ring 111 now so I don't know where else to ask.

shreddednips · 15/03/2020 14:44

Very sore throat and cough, but DS (1yo) had a raging temperature for days and a very bad cough. We ended up calling an emergency ambulance as I couldn't get him to wake up properly and temperature was dangerously high (nearest A&E with paediatric team at night is a fair way away). He's thankfully doing much better now at home. They didn't test him. We're in isolation until Wednesday, but he's been so unwell I'm not sure he'll be well enough to go to the CM for a while longer. I just generally feel run down, no temperature. But then I've been so worried for DS that I haven't slept much.

Best wishes to everyone else in isolation, it's horrible. Hang on in there.

Gwenhwyfar · 15/03/2020 14:45

Cross-posted Tiddle!
There are no thermometers in the shops so I wouldn't know how to test my temperature if I did develop a fever or cough. Is hand to forehead enough? Do you just feel hot?

tangledyarn · 15/03/2020 14:45

Been ill on and off for 10 days, sore throat, intermittently feeling hot but comes and goes quickly, dry cough but that has reduced now. Main symptom now is a sore chest, feels v hot and heavy on the left side,, am a bit wheezy and just feel very fluey. Wasnt self isolating because I kept feeling a bit better and going into work (only work mornings anyway) but then I feel quite unwell this weekend and obviously need to follow the advice whatever.

Aegna · 15/03/2020 14:45

Er @msgreen sounds like you need to vent in some other group - everyone on this thread IS self isolating or questioning whether other people think they should. You're preaching to the converted

TiddleTaddleTat · 15/03/2020 14:47

I just seem to get random waves of feeling very hot for no particular reason. Forehead feels a little hot but on testing I am still in average ranges.

TiddleTaddleTat · 15/03/2020 14:49

@tangled that's interesting because I actually had shortness of breath and felt unwell back on 23/2 - I kept a record as I wasn't sure what it could be. Tried to get through to GP and to 111 at the time but everything was choca even then. So I put it down to anxiety.
I've then just charged through with work etc feeling pretty grotty but not too bad.
I sincerely hope I didn't have it then and have spread it to others.

LittleSwede · 15/03/2020 14:56

I'm terms of symptoms the dry cough now feels like it's deeper down and definitely have a tight chest. I'm not asthmatic but have an inhaler from when I had a viral wheeze a couple of years ago. It's been useful. Had to sleep with three pillows last night.

Haven't had a temperature but feeling very tired, achey and just not right. No other cold symptoms at all.

I know I won't get tested but am now wondering if there is a tiny chance/risk this is the real thing. Have packed a grab bag in case I suddenly get worse. Fingers crossed it won't. At the moment it does manageable at home.

Exhaustedpidgeon · 15/03/2020 14:57

Coughs started yesterday with general feeling of unwell for eldest & I. Today we both have tight chests and feeling dizzy.

Youngest had sore throat on Friday but no cough.

We are all staying home this week. I can work from home and school didn’t want youngest in on Friday because of sore throat so doubt they’ll want them now with the cough.

Hubby will stay with us and can also work from home.

Not bored as love an excuse to avoid people but will miss my horse 😣

tangledyarn · 15/03/2020 14:58

little Same here, I am asthmatic, so using inhalers more than usual and just lying down a lot! Not much else I can do really.

bathsh3ba · 15/03/2020 15:02

My DD12 started with sore throat and what she described as a thick head about 2 days ago. Temperature was 99.2 or 99.3 then so under the 37.8 threshold which is pretty much bang on 100. She coughed occasionally. Today she is coughing more and her temp was 101.

I have a sore throat and a temp of 99.4 so I suspect I am a couple of days behind her. Other DD so far okay.

Of course it may not be coronavirus but we are isolating anyway

MissGrizzlesniff · 15/03/2020 15:03

I started on Friday night with nausea and general achiness. On Saturday I had a headache and still felt a bit unwell. My 3 year old developed a hacking cough on Saturday afternoon and then I started coughing on Saturday evening. Today I've not coughed so much but when I do it hurts, I'm tired and a little breathless on minimal exertion. I've not felt feverish but also not taken my temperature. Seven days in the house is going to be tough especially if I start feeling better soon. I can do most of my work from home so at least I'll be a bit productive.

CathyandHeathcliff · 15/03/2020 15:06

Is a temperature 37.6?

ClashCityRocker · 15/03/2020 15:06

On the vodka and we have now resorted to playing cards.

HavelockVetinari · 15/03/2020 15:09

DS and I have coughs, slight fever and tiredness. Bit of a nightmare re: work, we'll obviously be self-isolating but it's really hard to work from home with a cranky toddler and I've got loads to do Sad

Skybluepink123 · 15/03/2020 15:09

My teenage dd has had continuous cough since Friday evening and intermittent temperature. She has asthma but her inhalers aren’t helping and she says the cough feels different from her usual asthma symptoms. In addition she is utterly exhausted, describes needing to cough to clear her chest but it doesn’t feel like it’s working. She’s currently in bed. I don’t know what to think as, apart from her constant cough, the other symptoms come and go. I have two other children with serious, underlying health problems so I’m concerned for them too. My DH works for emergency services so he has to go to work which is worrying as he could bring the virus home to us all. Back to my daughter, we’ve followed nhs 111 online advice and it says she has to self isolate for 7 days. Not sure about rest of family.

Skybluepink123 · 15/03/2020 15:10

Forgot to add that dd has diarrhoea too which WHO says can also be a symptom.

HavelockVetinari · 15/03/2020 15:11

And a of solidarity to all the others out there working in finance and self-isolating whilst trying to deal with year-end Gin
