Self Isolating? Share your symptoms & boredom!

Morning! My kids and I have developed coughs (no fever) over the weekend, my husband also took himself off to bed yesterday afternoon with headache and aches and hasn't been seen since! So it's on the self isolation train for us...

Is there anyone else self isolating this week, would you mind sharing your symptoms? Who knows if we have it as can't get tested (and haven't been in contact with anyone that we know of!) but I feel we fit the criteria of a new persistent cough (and before anyone says you have to have a fever like I've seen on other threads it clearly says OR in the guidelinesSmile) xx

Interested as my daughter had tonsillitis about a week and a bit before I got ill....She had a very high temp but no cough or other cold symptoms. Doctor said it was that and did a swab but it wasn’t bacterial. Could still have been viral though

@Jowak1

Jowak1 · 15/03/2020 21:17

Hiya , temp, sore throat ( he had white spots as he's had tonsillitis before which made us think it was that again) cough generally unwell .

alwaysneedgin · 15/03/2020 21:18

I had problems with my asthma yesterday and was checked over at an out of hours centre by a highly protected doctor. We decided as long as my temp was OK, I was OK to carry on as normal. Now I have a fever so my family and I are isolating with full support of both workplaces and my children's school. OOH told me to isolate and hubby's work asked him to. I gave school the choice. I think I just have a bad cold but can't risk it with how things are.

Jowak1 · 15/03/2020 21:18

Sorry Liveinside I don't get many replies to my posts so not sure how to tag you in lol

alwaysneedgin · 15/03/2020 21:20

Should also add I feel very tired and I have a headache to go with temp and cough.

RedDiamond · 15/03/2020 21:20

@Gwenhwyfar I also could not get one online but I did locate masses in my local chemist. If you can't get out, can you text someone to get one for you?

Liveinside · 15/03/2020 21:20

@Jowak1 don’t worry I read it! She didn’t have a cough is the only thing...

Jowak1 · 15/03/2020 21:24

@Liveinside I suppose each person may vary as to how many symptoms they have for various viruses some people may get them all whereas some may only get one or two.

Gwenhwyfar · 15/03/2020 21:32

I can get out Red, just that they're all out of stock in local Boots and Superdrugs. I'll try a little chemist.

unambiguousbeard · 15/03/2020 21:33

Shit. Just over two weeks ago I had a really sore throat. Then 2 days of feeling off with a slight temp and headache. Then a dry cough and really tight chest. Which I can't clear at all. I haven't self isolated I've been traipsing all over London and public transport. I assume as it's over 14 days that I'm no longer infectious. Plus I don't appear to have passed it on to anyone, colleagues, kids, friends. ExH has the same and was ill enough to be off work. The main thing I noticed was no snot. And a really tight chest. Like asthma. Thought it might be hay fever....

squishedgrapes · 15/03/2020 21:41

My youngest goes to a special needs school, with a lot of immune compromised children. He has developed a cough and temperature as of today. Seemed tired yesterday, and off his food. Eldest started with a cough on Friday after school, and now has a temperature, headache, and cough, just generally lacklustre. I feel quite under the weather, slight sore throat, can't tell if I'm tired or coming down with something, don't know what.
We'll be self isolating anyway, can't go anywhere because I can't take yd's out with me so home for the week

BertieDrapper · 15/03/2020 22:08

DD 4 started a cough
On Wednesday. Which turned into a temp, her breathing was terrible come thursday. Remained like that for 2 days.

She's back to herself today but still has a horrid cough which sounds like she's trying to cough stuff up.

It's annoying they aren't testing anymore, because surely if she has it now then she'd be immune?

We have been indoors since Thursday, DH has to go into work tomorrow but will be WFH rest of the week.

I am really struggling mentally. DD doesn't understand why we can't go out. We very rarely have days indoors, all day! So this has been a long stint for all of us.

Don't know how to get through next few days. And that's if me and DH don't come down with it!!

HairyTesticles · 15/03/2020 22:22

Me! I was poorly a couple of weeks ago, sore throat, cough- probably a cold, cough has started to settled down but has come back full force the last couple of days, very tired and achy and have a sore throat. So 111 said to self isolate.
My work isn't impressed as they think it's still just the cold I had a couple of weeks ago. 🤷‍♀️

Greendayz · 15/03/2020 23:02

That sounds more like bronchitis to me @hairy - a cough that sets in just as you were getting better from a cold. If it is it might need antibiotics, though I don't know how you're supposed to get them if you're self isolating. I was told firmly not to go to the GP or A&E and only to go back to 111 if I got worse.

OutingMyself · 15/03/2020 23:20

I've come down with a cough today, and sore throat. My DD has been sleeping in my bed the last couple of nights, and there has been lots of cuddling in general, holding of hands etc. I'm on my own with her and although I could ask someone to take her to school it doesn't seem right? I've read all the NHS advice but it doesn't mention if I should isolate her too, but I'm thinking I must have to? If someone were to come here to get her and then have her in their car (we aren't walking distance from school) that could spread it to them if she did have it. I don't want to send her in.

I'm right aren't I?!

MajesticWhine · 15/03/2020 23:31

@OutingMyself I think you are right. I have been having this argument with DH tonight who thinks DD should go to school. But I think it puts others at unnecessary risk.

Justonedayatatime11 · 15/03/2020 23:32

DD woke up middle of Thursday night with a horrible cough, spiked temp at 38.1 Friday afternoon. Fever gone today but still complaining of being very very tired, coughing a lot and feeling dizzy. I had exactly the same symptoms started Wednesday last week. DD, DH and I now all in isolation as DH and I both immunocompromised. School kindly dropped off work for DD to do so we'll just see how this week goes!

Greendayz · 16/03/2020 06:37

Here's a link to an organisation which has been set up to act as an umbrella body for local community groups who are offering support to people who are self isolating. covidmutualaid.org/

Greendayz · 16/03/2020 06:39

I can't seem to do links it's covidmutualaid.org You can Google it

TiddleTaddleTat · 16/03/2020 13:08

Bored here. Self isolating since Thursday. Fatigue really kicked in yesterday and symptoms changed - less of the fluctuating temperature and more exhaustion and frequent coughing. Just need to be horizontal but mentally ok and can watch tv etc.

SchrodingersUnicorn · 16/03/2020 13:23

I'm calling 111 at a few posters advised. So far I've been on hold for 50 minutes. The automatic answer asked me 5 times if I really need to speak to someone and tried to put me off.
I don't think I have it, but because I just have a temperature and shortness of breath I can't access GP services, including my usual asthma nurse. Really I just need to speak to her. Wondering about hanging up but then what if I get worse again and have to start all over again?
The NHS cannot cope with this, and people are already being left without treatment. What is the government playing at?

Soubriquet · 16/03/2020 14:26

Day 3 and I weirdly feel incredibly drained

IamHyouweegobshite · 16/03/2020 14:38

Myself and dd have self isolated, we both had a slight temp yest, cough since sat. My asthma has been quite bad, and I felt my cough was because of that. Had a raging sore throat last Thurs. Had shivers all through the night and today.
I feel really bad, like I'm skiving, my boss asked me to spk to 111, but I couldn't get through.
Trying to keep away from my family is a hard, esp with asd dd who gets so scared and needs hugs and reassurance.

starrysimon · 16/03/2020 14:48

I’m starting to self isolate today. 8 months pregnant, have had an on and off cough over the past few days but today it has got considerably worse. The glands in my throat are so painful or swollen. Chest hurts so bad but not struggling to breathe. Mainly chest muscle pain when applying pressure. Keep getting hot but not a fever, no shivering etc. It is really hard for me to distinguish anything as all symptoms aside from the cough are things I will be experiencing anyway due to pregnancy.

Only come into contact with OH who is a contractor and taking protective measures at work with anti bac wipes and hand wash as we only have his wage. I’m not concerned about death as I have a very good immune system, have felt on the brink of death with pneumonia a few times and survived with no treatment. I also expect to be treated very quickly if things get worse as I’m pregnant so technically am two people at the moment. I’m enjoying keeping the house spotless and binge watching Netflix in my comfy bed. Missing DD a lot though, she is still in pre-school and has been staying with DM. Not like I can do much at this stage anyway I’m pretty beached! 2 minute drive from the hospital so I’m not worried if things take a bad turn with my health

ACautionaryTale · 16/03/2020 14:51

Self isolation does not fear me - I have Sky, Netflix and enough knitting yarn to keep me going for a year.

Its about the only good thing.
