Do most people think this has been handled very badly?

Even though people maybe disagree with my other thread about it MAYBE being exaggerated I think most people would agree it has been handled very badly. I only found out that it was their strategy to let it go through the country from Nigel farage (who I think is self-isolating lmao). They haven't communicated anything at all about shutdowns etc and BJ seems to be like a rabbit caught between the headlights and has show zero leadership. They haven't explained how people should eat drink when isolating how they should manage their kids etc. I don't think he will be voted in again maybe even Corbyn would have been better.

And if I hear "but they had an underlying medical condition" one more time I'll scream.

What condition? Because the age range is down to 50s already, so that's bollocks isn't it.

I think when it gets to the point that over 200 scientists feel moved to write an open letter to the PM to try to persuade him to change his approach then it's safe to assume that his approach isn't a good one...

Leaked doc from PHE.
NHS workers won't be tested for CV even with symptoms go.mumsnet.com/?xs=1&id=470X1554755&url=t.co/3xOyB0GEyq

This has been handled badly, we've had been months to prepare!

buttonmoonb4tea · 15/03/2020 20:34

Sorry meant 2 months to prepare

We were too busy 'Getting Brexit done' when this all started. We've wasted years getting nowhere on some people's desire to isolate from the rest of the world and in the meantime have been thrown into what will become a very different world.

Not read the thread but yes l do think it's been handled very badly.

However I can't imagine how much more hideous it would've been under corybn.
At least we are starting with a fairly robust economy it would have tanked had he won.

I also feel Boris is some what at the mercy of his medical team, the same team who would have advised corybn.

Having said that, of all people Jeremy hunt knows the NHS, he's shit scared and we need more media presence and we need a united parliament, but also a strong opposition!

IMO the reverse will be true. And Corbyn wouldn’t be throwing his fellow citizens under the bus, telling them to sing Happy Birthday while doing nothing to protect them.

I think this is an unprecedented situation and hind sight is a wonderful thing.

What does hindsight have to do with it though, the could and should be doing a lot more right now.

China is having fewer cases, not because of lockdown entirely, but because they have huge financial reserves to pay for testing, care etc (they built a whole hospital in a couple of weeks) they cracked down on everything. Most importantly they have had the virus since November 2019 and now have significant herd immunity. We are a long way off from that.
