@boldlygoingsomewhere

Im having the exact same symptoms.

No temperature or cough either, I'm feeling a bit more tired than usual too

confusedandtired99 · 14/03/2020 18:03

If anyone’s interested I’ve started a thread in Coronavirus topic asking for book recommendations.

Like GPwife recommended in an earlier thread I think I need to try and think of something else for a few hours at a least.

Eeyoresstickhouse · 14/03/2020 18:03

At my work we have 2 events in the next week. One will have about 1500 students foot fall over the day. Another will have about 4000 students foot fall over the day. I am shitting it this week. I keep shoving vaseline up my nose like I do for a flight normally. I doubt it does anything but it makes me feel better!

Belgium's health ministry says 'lockdown parties' are hurting efforts to stop coronavirus: "We are making enormous efforts as a country to protect our health care sector and vulnerable people. We hope everyone takes their responsibility"

The only upside is I have told my husband to go and buy some paint so he can crack on with the diy if we do go on lockdown hahaha

TheElementsOfMedical · 14/03/2020 18:07

We've been told that the government's strategy is "following the science" to achieve herd immunity whilst minimising disruption to people keeping the economy going, and that ill people shouldn't even contact the health services unless they're in a really bad way, just hide away indoors.

How are we to know when we've achieved the magic 60% infection rate without testing? Are we just going to count dead people and when half a million have expired, conclude that we've got 60% infection?

How does this help the individual recovered ill people to know whether they've had COVID or not, and thus whether they've achieved the exalted status of immune human firebreak?

NellyGrace · 14/03/2020 18:08

Does anyone have a list of underlying conditions that are affected by Covid 19?

Glittercandle · 14/03/2020 18:08

Eeyoresstickhouse my plan for next week is to buy some decorating supplies to keep me busy!

glitter we will have amazing houses at the end of this! I am going to have a big Marie Kondo sort out as well.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 14/03/2020 18:11

Plantherd, yes I’m feeling more tired than usual too.

MurrayTheMonk · 14/03/2020 18:11

Plantherd-me too. Achey, tight chest, and feel exhausted.
I've been at work all day and I just want to go home and get into bed.

I don't know if I'm just thinking myself into being ill now... in fact I feel like I don't know much at this point!!

Lumene · 14/03/2020 18:11

Good point @TheElementsOfMedical

Also how will follow up studies be done to check for longer term health impact

Tempuserregularposter · 14/03/2020 18:16

Eeyoresstickhouse I think we are geographical neighbors and I think I know where you work, (not in a stalker ish way just been following your posts as they affect me) I didn't turn up on Thursday to something that may have changed my life/career and I assume what is happening next week is related. I can't believe it's going ahead especially considering other places response to it.

Another vote for “where is Boris”. He really seems to go to ground at weekends even at a time of national crisis. When even Trump is doing better leading the country it speaks volumes.

Jerseygaly · 14/03/2020 18:19

Need to call #conflictofinterest
The same people responsible for paying for
Care homes
Pensions
Nhs
Schools

Should NOT be in charge of this.
Conflict of intetest.

Eeyoresstickhouse · 14/03/2020 18:19

Temp lol. I get it! If we are on the same page it is absolutely bonkers that they are going ahead. Especially the event on Thursday! That amount of off campus exhibitors and then the 4k students over a day is a recipe for disaster! Maybe that's the hope. We all come down ill so they close anyway.

OhMargo · 14/03/2020 18:20

The 39 cases in ROI covers two days.
Due to acceleration in test results coming back now.

Plantherd · 14/03/2020 18:20

@MurrayTheMonk @boldlygoingsomewhere

I hope you both feel better soon! I've just got my pjs on and headed into bed (after spending most of my time on the sofa today) here's hoping an early night helps.

Just a very strange feeling/symptons of something.

RedLentilYellowLentil · 14/03/2020 18:21

I don’t get it. If the evidence for being immune after having it is theoretical and there’s no proof then why are we adopting this strategy in the first place?

That's a very good question @Reastie. Unfortunately no one knows the answer.

I hadn't seen the number ten press conference when people first started talking about it on MN, and I have to admit I assumed people here must have just got hold of the wrong end of the stick. I was literally speechless when I discovered it really was the government's strategy. Just completely lost for words. It feels like the WHO feels the same, as tbh it would be helpful if they would condemn it more bluntly (atm they are being very diplomatic). People seem to be starting to find their voices today and hopefully the open letter from 200 scientists will help.

I am wary, though, of the British public having to practically beg to be locked down, as I think it would not take much for this government to become very authoritarian.

We are looking more and more exposed and lethargic by the hour.

mrshoho · 14/03/2020 18:24

I've got a very sore throat, headache and aches and pains with tiredness too. Don't feel feverish though. I normally wouldn't give it a second thought.
