@Ifartglitterybaubles I doubt you will have to deregister. I had issues with DDs previous school as they were not keeping her safe. I pulled her out and they threaten me with going to court etc. They eventually backed down and I home schooled her for around 10 weeks until I could get her a place at another.

BeyondMymymymyCorona · 14/03/2020 17:39

I'm not lying to the school, I'll tell them I'm high risk and I'm not risking it.

Let them take me to court.

Widget123 · 14/03/2020 17:44

Is no one else seriously concerned that they’ve stopped community testing? So basically you can only get tested if you go into hospital and are really sick... so what in the fuck is the point in them releasing infection numbers each day when they are no way near right?!?!?

Yep.

fedup21 · 14/03/2020 17:47

I am v worried they’ve stopped community testing. Today’s figures are probably ok but I would imagine next week they will drop massively and it’ll look like Boris has the situation under control.

Widget123 · 14/03/2020 17:48

Exactly!!

Janemarpling · 14/03/2020 17:49

Sadly we will have to look at the death rate.

Hardly ideal

SemiSkimmedMilk · 14/03/2020 17:49

Is no one else seriously concerned that they’ve stopped community testing?

Yes, for many reasons including that many people don’t seem to understand that diagnosed cases does not equal people infected with the virus.

DonkeyKong2019 · 14/03/2020 17:49

That's the point I imagine

DonkeyKong2019 · 14/03/2020 17:50

Although Italy have similar criteria..

Lumene · 14/03/2020 17:50

Yes @Widget123 lack of community testing and tracking really concerns me. I would like to know:

  • why they are doing this, against WHO advice
  • how they will be able to test their assumptions about U.K. death rate based on this. If they are using death rate to estimate how many have the disease including in mild form - this won’t show if there’s a higher death rate per person infected due to eg overwhelmed wards, or any other factors
  • what their models suggest the difference between doing and not doing this would be, and what that is based on. Do other models differ?
MacronsPensWiper · 14/03/2020 17:50

At any peak time it takes hours and hours for 111 call backs.

Best results are in for those who get help quickly.

People will feel v ill and 111 has lost calls in the chaos, don't call back.. Then confuse people...

I can't imagine all this stress when people are going to be very very ill!!

1happyhippie · 14/03/2020 17:51

It is very concerning they have stopped testing.
The WHO have said time and time again, we must test everyone showing symptoms. They said we can’t fight a virus if we don’t know where it is!

Michelleoftheresistance · 14/03/2020 17:52

I agree that it's unlikely authorities will press fines or that systems will be interested in chasing such things over the next few weeks, plus parents can de register if necessary. I wish vulnerable school staff could escape compulsory exposure as easily.

It is ridiculous when there is no reason not to say to parents, if your child is vulnerable, if you live with someone vulnerable, we waive usual expectations and you can keep your child at home.

MarshaBradyo · 14/03/2020 17:53

Does it really help when we get past truly containing it stage?

In Italy waves are turning up at the hospitals. They know where it is.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 14/03/2020 17:54

I’m also worried that we all apparently have to rely on 111. The service is patchy at the best of times.

I’ve feeling really weird today with symptoms I’d normal go to the GP for - they include sore throat and tight chest/feeling breathless. No idea what I’m supposed to do now as I have no cough or temperature. Feels like we’re all being hung out to dry.

fedup21 · 14/03/2020 17:56

Does it really help when we get past truly containing it stage?

The WHO are pretty clear that it’s important!

RozHuntleysStump · 14/03/2020 17:58

My son has a cough and a slight temp. Bit worrying. I’m keeping him off school next week and at home. He’s not happy about it but I think we should all be adhering to the guidelines and limiting our interactions as much as possible. I’m so, so worried. My in-laws won’t let us visit tomorrow. They are isolating themselves and I agree with it, but it’s just so scary.

MarshaBradyo · 14/03/2020 17:58

I know they are. But it only really helps at the start when you are tracing and containing. When 10,000 - 100,000 have it what do you do with that?

All of us are going to get hit by the same train as Italy at some point (flattened one hopes).

#GERMANY- #Berlin bans all gatherings with over 50 people & shuts down museums, cinemas, casinos & other types of entertainment venues. #covid

I think that they need the NHS resources not on testing now but on coping/fire fighting.

Babyroobs · 14/03/2020 17:59

I have been told by my employer for days that there were only 2 cases in the whole county. Today there has been a death and he died on Thursday so the figures are coming through a few days later in some case. I dread to think what the real figures are.

ofwarren · 14/03/2020 17:59

#IRAN— 12 729 total cases of #coronavirus and 611 deaths

Does anybody know when the next cobra meeting is? Or when we are likely to have a public response from BJ? As much as I really really really dislike Trump, at least he's visible right now.

Babyroobs · 14/03/2020 18:01

Very worried about Africa too.
