Where did you hear about Poland? Can't see that in the news?

Langbannedforsafeguardingkids · 13/03/2020 18:40

Is there any scope for some kind of vote of no confidence in the government here? Come on opposition - fucking DO something

Angryrant55 · 13/03/2020 18:41

international flights suspended from 00:01 Sunday in Poland

MarshaBradyo · 13/03/2020 18:41

Opposition is practically down and out. Where the hell are they doing a leadership contest for eternity.

ofwarren · 13/03/2020 18:41

Parliament will limit visitor access to both the House of Lords and the House of Commons and introduce overseas travel restrictions from Monday due to covid-19

That story about the man in Manchester is devastating. What a horrible way to go.

Bloody skiers who went to Italy and didn't isolate on return. They're the ones that will be ok because they're well off, while the old and vulnerable die.

NellyGrace · 13/03/2020 18:42

I know this will have been asked already. But we were promised new hospitals.

Why don’t they build them now - quickly- just like the Chinese did?

Angryrant55 · 13/03/2020 18:43

55% of the public still think the goverment is doing a great job and the press is stepping up the defense of them.

Parliamentary authorities say they now 'strongly discourage' foreign travel

ofwarren · 13/03/2020 18:43

Poland info is from BNO NEWSROOM. They get the info before the mainstream news. They would have got it from a local news agency.

@JellyFishSquish I also noticed the UK is now missing from that tracker website. Does anyone know why? Is it because we have scaled back the testing regime? gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6

The Speaker and @LordSpeaker
have announced new restrictions on visitors to the parliamentary estate effective from Monday. No banqueting or tours. No passholder should bring guests in unless it is parliamentary business related.

Members of the public will still be able to visit the galleries in both Houses and see select committees. They will only be able to come to Central Lobby to see their MP if it is agreed and booked in advance.

“MPs, Peers, parliamentary staff and other members of the Parliamentary community will continue to be able to work on the Estate where necessary.”

That very much depends on your interpretation of “where necessary”.

The Daily Mail article says 'could' raise the risk. There is apparently no evidence to support this claim just a suggestion that it should be looked into. It is just the usual scaremongering by the paper.

MmeAlice · 13/03/2020 18:46

Denmark here, hi! All borders closed until 13 April. Food, medicine and industry essential goods allowed through. You can come in if you can prove you are Danish or resident. It's strong measures but our government say that if they don't do this they won't be able to control the increase in cases and the health service will be overwhelmed.

Izzy24 · 13/03/2020 18:46

How old is ‘older’?

Someone asked this at the press conference yesterday but no-one answered.

Family member is a 67 year old nurse . Always gets really bad chest infections when she has a cold and a crappy immune system. We all think she should be staying home, but she’s not.

Thoughts anyone?

MmeAlice · 13/03/2020 18:47

They've also called all Danes out on trips to make their way home.

APPGs are not to invite non-passholding guests on to the Parliamentary Estate.

Well mme your Govt is a damn sight more responsible than ours.

OldQueen1969 · 13/03/2020 18:50

Anybody else feel as if we're the fish in the barrel and over it at the same time?

We have to carry on regardless to develop to possibly mythical herd immunity, but civil unrest is highly unlikely because most interested parties will be practising social distancing. I suppose we could all chain ourselves together with a distance of one metre between us all and circle the HoC for a peaceful sit down protest?

School tours and MP sponsored democratic access visits are NOT affected by these changes.

re Wales

Wales has a population of roughly 3,250,000. If 80% of the population catch it and there is a 1% death rate amongst those people, that is 26,000. And that is ignoring the fact that Wales have a lower number of ICU beds per capita than the rest of the UK. As well as overall a more economically disadvantaged population.
