Stay at home for one week if you’ve a cold (even though all evidence is that incubation is two weeks)

People over 70 don’t go on cruises.

WHAT!!!

134 new cases in a day and no action. 13 EU countries have closed all schools, another 11 partial closures but apparently no action needed in Uk.

Jesus.

Jesus wept!

Geometricprince · 12/03/2020 17:04

It's a fucking joke.

eatsleepmoverepeat · 12/03/2020 17:05

Was definitely expecting better than that. Why only 7 days when all other quarantine/self-isolation has been 14?

Kuponut · 12/03/2020 17:06

We're fucked - but now we're fucked with a malfunctioning powerpoint.

OnceUponACat · 12/03/2020 17:07

...speechless...

BeetrootRocks · 12/03/2020 17:09

They are more interested in economy than anything else

Taddda · 12/03/2020 17:09

@Kuponut 🤣

HardWorkShy · 12/03/2020 17:10

Other countries are testing as many people as possible as soon as they show symptoms. I can't even get through to a human on 111.

Taddda · 12/03/2020 17:10

Completely economical-

CKoRn · 12/03/2020 17:11

Tinfoil hat time! It's interesting that the US has stopped all flights from the Schengen area (UK is exclueded) and we still have flights coming in from Italy and all over here - it's almost like they're trying to increase the spread in the UK?

ConfusedSENmum · 12/03/2020 17:11

It's desperate isn't it. 'The best advice' my arse!

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 12/03/2020 17:11

I cant believe it, they are waiting for more people to catch it before they take more extreme measures, but it's ok because BoJo understands people will die Shock

Collateral damage to save the economy no doubt Angry

SelfIsolating · 12/03/2020 17:12

Are we being singled out in this country for some type of experiment?

BlackCatSleeping · 12/03/2020 17:13

If one more person says to me "that the government says it's ok, so it must be fine" I'm going to cry.

Do people really trust Boris to handle this?

FlappingTurtle · 12/03/2020 17:14

I would think they'd be more worried, considering that the age demographic most at risk is also the age demographic most likely to vote Conservative.

OnceUponACat · 12/03/2020 17:14

Tis All about the cash

C3line · 12/03/2020 17:14

No but I do trust the medical experts who have just explained things quite clearly.

TheMemoryLingers · 12/03/2020 17:15

In breaking news, Boris is going to issue everyone with a t-shirt reading 'Coronavirus - no thanks.' Followed by a hard-hitting leaflet campaign.

Aspoonfullofjam · 12/03/2020 17:16

They’re just doing it all wrong. If you want people to stay home for 7 days for a sniffle then announce properly that you will ensure those people get paid for that time either by government through claiming benefits that week or through work. People who don’t have the option to not work if their not going to be paid won’t stay at home.

excitedmumtobe87 · 12/03/2020 17:16

So we just need to stay at home for seven days if we have symptoms? Don’t call 111? How do we self certificate?

The testing changes sound good.

They seem knowledgeable. But looking at what happens everywhere else this has me feeling very uneasy

Leflic · 12/03/2020 17:17

Oh come on. It’s obvious that most people that get it will be fine. Many won’t even know they have it.
We have to do something for the vulnerable which is clearly understood by the government. Stringing it out as opposed to the hope that no one else catches it
We need herd immunity, so some of us have to get it.We want it over by next winter when it will be even more dangerous.

peeledplumtomatoes · 12/03/2020 17:17

BJ is clueless. He didn't seem to know close contact with others should be avoided and was proudly proclaiming he was shaking people's hands only the other day, obviously mistaking Corona for HIV and probably trying to chanel princess Diana.

Why on earth people thought it was a good idea to vote for this idiot I'll never know. He was always going to make a mess of things even without Corona.

My anxiety levels are going up every day. DH is immunocompromised and has today gone to Lisbon. He'll be working from home when he gets back on Monday so I suppose he doesn't pose a huge risk and I don't have any underlying conditions.

This all feels so surreal, part of me can't believe it's actually happening, and I'm not just watching a very long movie.

I'm actually feeling scared. Have been ok until now. But today's jump means it's escalating rapidly.

Aspoonfullofjam · 12/03/2020 17:18

@C3line An increase of 134 in one day should show a uptick in the curve not a stable curve so maybe that chart was made yesterday but 4 weeks till peak seems very optimistic. Could be starting to peak in a weeks time.

TheQueef · 12/03/2020 17:18

I know one thing.
If it's Stanley Johnson who needs intensive care he won't be in the lottery with us.
Boris is being a Conservative, economic decisions.

Fuckers.

I though NS would have a bit of sway.

canyon2000 · 12/03/2020 17:19

Re: 7 day isolation, Chief Medical Officer Chris Witty says this is because the virus has its maximum transmission around the time of the first symptoms and for 2/3 days afterwards, then rapidly declines so that by 7 days the majority of people are not infectious.
