Has anyone heard anything about the results of the COBRA meeting yet?

Or news on schools closing?

Will they close universities too?

I reckon they will close schools. Everyone that is big in the health industry have said. That the U.K. isn't doing enough.

I reckon we wil close

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 12/03/2020 15:21

Following.

Just been told that our lecturers might not be in anymore (all healthcare professionals) whatever Bojo chooses.
They are having meeting about it too.

bemoreeverything · 12/03/2020 15:22

@cheesemongery

No school closures following the meeting, no plans to cancel mass gatherings.

Source?

Bluntness100 · 12/03/2020 15:24

The issue is he is right, politicians are being urged to act, to be seen to act, not necessarily because it’s the right thing at this time.

The reality is many people are self isolating and cancelling, hotels, airports, train stations, many are deserted. So there is an element of natural shut down already Happening, they are trying to keep the rest going so the country doesn’t grind to a stand still, and that as a community we develop immunity and the cases are managed appropriately.

The media is full of false information which is making it worse, there is a ludicrous post from someone claiming to be a doctor in Italy whose tweets are being published in the daily mail. But the guy says get your anti virals ready, there is no anti viral for this right now so clearly it’s bullshit fake news.

Of the many thousands of cases being tested it’s still less than two percent testing positive. Ten deaths. People are becoming hysterical and worried, which is fair, but the fact there is a lot of media false news being planted and a lot of media hysteria and scare mongering doesn’t help.

@cheesemongery

Please don't post opinion as fact without a source .

I met with a friend today who is a deputy head and she's said that our county are planning to start Easter holidays on the 20th. She's fully expecting it to be announced shortly.

7to25 · 12/03/2020 15:27

Cheesemongery is right
No school closures. No ban on mass gatherings. No change for vulnerable. Self isolate for fever don't call 111

Juanmorebeer · 12/03/2020 15:29

Source?

AlternativePerspective · 12/03/2020 15:29

A lot of the shutdown is happening naturally with people working from home already etc.

As much as people are shouting “put the country on lockdown now!” The truth is that the more naturally this happens the less impact there will be on the economy. And the impact on the economy cannot be downplayed because that equals the impact on individuals.

7to25 · 12/03/2020 15:29

Real

Hugglespuffed · 12/03/2020 15:29

Source @7to25

Cherrypie32 · 12/03/2020 15:29

My HT effectively said end of next week too.

AlternativePerspective · 12/03/2020 15:30

Where is the source for this. BBC are still saying announcement expected and that was updated five minutes ago. So if it’s the daily mail or twitter then do disregard.

space83 · 12/03/2020 15:30

Whoa just worked out that after 14 days that's 4.9million people roughly...

tearsandtiaras · 12/03/2020 15:30

7to25 what is your source for that Hmm

OP posts:
7to25 · 12/03/2020 15:31

Source is genuine. Wait and see.

Travelban · 12/03/2020 15:32

If its true it is an absolute madness. I really hope it isn't

AlternativePerspective · 12/03/2020 15:32

Source is genuine. Wait and see. then you won’t mind divulging it will you?

Hugglespuffed · 12/03/2020 15:33

I do believe not much will have changed to be honest. But that is my opinion. @7to25 we want to see actual sources.

bemoreeverything · 12/03/2020 15:33

Source is genuine. Wait and see.

If you can't cite a source then only coincidence could make you correct.

Chocolatedaim · 12/03/2020 15:36

All the ‘experts’ they have had on bbc news today have said the UK just wants to delay the spreading of the virus so schools unlikely to close according to them 🤷🏻‍♀️

AlternativePerspective · 12/03/2020 15:37

Today on FB I’ve seen one article claiming that all schools will be closed on the 20th, and one which claims they’ll all be closed as of tomorrow. Added to which my eXH told DS that there would be an announcement on Sunday saying that London was going into lockdown. And I stupidly posted that one here. Turned out that it was the announcement expected today to step up measures etc etc.

And agree with bluntness, all the bollocks doing the rounds is helping no-one, especially that alleged Italian Dr who is clearly nothing of the sort.

Tulipsinmyvase · 12/03/2020 15:37

Nicola Sturgeon speaking live - schools to remain open in Scotland.
Outrageous!

ihaveaquestionplease · 12/03/2020 15:37
