Does anyone know the level of testing in Switzerland, Germany, and France ...that would be helpful.

I think the UK cases 4:1M look really skewered compared to other countries given we have such a heavily condensed population.

usernameishistory · 08/03/2020 19:53

How is it biased to think it’s a shit situation that we can’t do much about and scaremongering isn’t helpful?

You can keep saying this, but it doesn't help anything or anyone, does it.

Posters are trying to do what they can.

You don't have to find that helpful

What is it you need?

Are you feeling very scared of this shit situation? So much so that you need others to stop talking about it or sourcing information? Not U to feel that way, but U to expect others to do that on your say so.

@Bearbehind if you want to argue for the sake of it and be a keyboard warrior reddit has some threads you can frequent. I know life can be boring, clearly it is for you, but your posts aren't helpful or constructive.

Suggest you go navel gaze elsewhere.

Jumpingintotheabyss · 08/03/2020 19:54

bear

You have previous form of for this kind of behaviour.

This is yet another thread where you have singly Handley disrupted a group of people chatting by demanding questions from them.

You've done this many times on the many threads I have been on.

Is it a sense of entitlement?.

Superiority? Or attention seeking?

Threads I don't agree with, I may make a comment and leave them to it.

WouldShouldCould · 08/03/2020 19:54

@squid4 I just tried to log on to book an appointment to give blood but site is down.

IrenetheQuaint · 08/03/2020 19:55

There's been some interesting discussion on these threads about why Italy has had it so bad - it might be worth you going back to read some of the relevant posts...

wherearemychickens · 08/03/2020 19:55

It's odd isn't it, watching the resistance to the concept that life might not be normal for a while. What makes some people find this easier to anticipate and adapt to, and others not so much? I know normalcy bias is a thing, but why does that apply to some more than others? I am fully expecting this to have a radical impact on the way I am able to live my life.

Bearbehind · 08/03/2020 19:55

I agree with you that reporting on every single case achieves nothing. Knowledge is not useful unless you do something with it and prepare a plan b

Exactly my point

And coming from someone who’s far closer to this than many of us, that means a lot shanghai

usernameishistory · 08/03/2020 19:56

wallow in you doom mongering

You see herein lies the difference.
Nobody in here posts this way.

Only you, and its inflammatory.

You are not contributing, so what is it you need?

Anyone else concerned by the fact flights are still landing in the UK from Northern Italy?? Why on Earth are we accepting them....??!

UtahGirl12 · 08/03/2020 19:56

Please don't let Bear derail this thread. I asked a genuine question 15 minutes ago and fear it's been lost in the many responses.

GPwife2411 · 08/03/2020 19:57

@Bearbehind - just curious, what part of my explanatory post was not explanatory?

GalOopNorth · 08/03/2020 19:57

What happened in Italy is what is happening here in the UK.

Cases spread unchecked, and are now overwhelming the health care service.

Which is the situation the UK will be in on approximately 18th March.

Which is why there are so many people who are interested in doing what they can to reduce the transmission during this phase, to flatten the peak of infection.

Jumpingintotheabyss · 08/03/2020 19:57

Young at heart.

It doesn't surprise me at all.

HasaDigaEebowai · 08/03/2020 19:57

Primary school in the north west now closed due to teacher hospitalised

wherearemychickens · 08/03/2020 19:57

What was the question Utah?

Youngatheart00 · 08/03/2020 19:58

@UtahGirl12 my understanding re lockdown is that it would be regional (not national). If someone from outside the exclusion zone wanted to enter I suspect they could but then not be permitted to leave for a specific duration (and possibly tested on arrival).

usernameishistory · 08/03/2020 19:59

Sorry @UtahGirl12

Wise words, please repost... Brew

I think FCO advice is now that they can return from the northern lockdown zone but have to be quarantined whether or not they have symptoms

user12345796 · 08/03/2020 19:59

Just to be really trivial - can I just say that not touching my face has done amazing things for my skin.
I know that's not the point.

GPwife2411 · 08/03/2020 19:59

You're right, I should not feed the less helpful dialogue further!

ShanghaiDiva · 08/03/2020 20:00

The uk continued to accept flights from China so it’s just more of the same really.
Countries with lower levels of cases, stopped than back in Feb.

Bearbehind · 08/03/2020 20:00

Most of you clearly want to wallow in this so I guess I’ll just leave you all to posting alarming stats and telling people to wash their hands 🤔

pussycatinboots · 08/03/2020 20:00

Hasa do you know roughly where?

fezzesarecool · 08/03/2020 20:00

Orangeblossom78 Funny you should mention the BBC Watching this morning I felt that they all had very cheery looking expressions rather than the neutral ones and they made a point of saying, this is what such and such says but we don’t want to scaremonger and want to also point out that... etc
