We had two people where I work with symptoms after returning from a high risk country. Neither have had test results yet (reported Monday) so the speed of testing is slow.

I think cases will go up over the weekend.

lemonjumper · 05/03/2020 16:14

The bit about 8 being not travel related is on here: www.gov.uk/government/news/cmo-for-england-announces-25-new-cases-of-coronavirus-covid-19-5-march-2020

Skyejuly · 05/03/2020 16:14

I can see it says south etc but where are the exact locations?

RazzleDazzle26 · 05/03/2020 16:15

25 in London + 17 South East (who could be commuters into London). That’s seems worrying and would imagine will grow quickly there?

@lemonjumper Thanks

user1471439240 · 05/03/2020 16:15

17998 tests completed, 115 positive. Makes 0.64 percent positive of people deemed in need of testing. The worry is the unknown amount of positives in the untested population.

dawnc27 · 05/03/2020 16:16

we have 1 here now in south yorks, rawmarsh nr rotherham to be precise it is. my home village and only a few miles from me now

Eeyoresstickhouse · 05/03/2020 16:16

I am south central slap in the middle between south east and south west. I think we would fall under south west for the figures and its worrying that is it 15. I know of the Devon cases but I dont know any others.

cjt110 · 05/03/2020 16:16

@user1471439240 creeping up from the 0.51% yesterday...

Oakmaiden · 05/03/2020 16:17

It is worth noting that although there are fewer cases today than yesterday, there were also fewer tests performed. There could be lots of reasons for that - from there being less people presenting with illness to... well, I don't know!

But yesterday approx 1.2% of new tests were positive, while today it has been 2.1%

Lumene · 05/03/2020 16:17

Would be interesting to see the figures as a proportion of the population in the corresponding areas.

chazbl · 05/03/2020 16:18

Quite scary I think, very uncertain on what's about to happen, but can't help but feel that, as they say in the movies, "this is not a drill!"

CrunchyCarrot · 05/03/2020 16:18

So - if you have all the COVID-19 symptoms, but haven't been to one of the travel hot spots or know someone who has, you won't get tested, is that right?

cjt110 · 05/03/2020 16:18

@peachgreen

Husband said to go and do the shopping last night instead of Friday and get some extra tinned goods. Never seen Aldi so quiet at 7pm....

@Bercows this isn't my local medical centre but only down the road.

Oakmaiden · 05/03/2020 16:19

@Skyejuly

The precise locations will apparently be reported on a new webpage from tomorrow.

Plantpotpot · 05/03/2020 16:20

Wow - this is like a movie for you guys - real life drama. Why don’t you just put on Netflix and calm down Wink

CrunchyCarrot · 05/03/2020 16:20

@cjt110 Is that food stored in your dishwasher? LOL. Grin

cjt110 · 05/03/2020 16:20

Balls... didnt realise there were photos in my photo|! duly reported.

cjt110 · 05/03/2020 16:20

@CrunchyCarrot It might be soon enough if we have to bu any more! My drawers are FULL!

SisterAgatha · 05/03/2020 16:21

South east and London are my worry. That 17 will surely be the Herts and Essex clusters getting bigger, or new ones commuting in to London.

flissity · 05/03/2020 16:21

Can someone pls
Tell me what the 4:30pm bbc report will be shown on? Cannot see it on Tv Guide. Is it a bbc news website streaming thing? Thanks

IceWings · 05/03/2020 16:22

The breakdown is nowhere near specific enough. London is about 600 square miles. Cases could be next door or 20 miles away. WHERE in London are those 25?!

SisterAgatha · 05/03/2020 16:24

I think more specific data will follow but I agree, I’d like to see it broken down to N/S/E/W London.

GPwife2411 · 05/03/2020 16:25

Am I interpreting it correctly that we are seeing more cases detected in the areas with the 100 GP practices doing community sampling?

I am in the North East - apparently we only have 10 but I suspect if we were sampling people with appropriate symptoms in the community we'd have more. I sort of wish that we did have a practice testing in the region ...
