Flissity I was wondering that too, I can't find it on the schedules.

peachgreen · 05/03/2020 16:26

Managed to find Dettol wipes in stock at B&Q for click and collect. Seem to still be stock in quite a few stores if anyone else is interested. I get a 6 monthly delivery of them through Amazon and they're due 4 April but just went to double check and the price is almost £100 for 5 packs!

GPwife2411 · 05/03/2020 16:26

I might get DH to volunteer his practice. At least then they might give him a mask Grin

FaisPasCiFaisPasCa · 05/03/2020 16:26

So 3 from before with no explained contact and 8 today. The travel ones are much less of a worry. I think the crux is whether there is connections between the new 8.

And piss off to the people who are having a sneer at our genuine concern about a serious outbreak of a serious virus about which serious epidemiologists are giving serious warnings.AngrySad

I'm not sure knowing which part of London makes a huge difference. I'm in West London but even if I knew some of the cases were here, what could I do differently? (Am handwashing, being careful not to touch face etc)

TheFormidableMrsC · 05/03/2020 16:26

@SisterAgatha No local news re : Hertfordshire cases. One is on my doorstep.

Figleaf · 05/03/2020 16:27

Joining you from California (recently moved here) . Information rubbish here as ordinary people just panic buying and the politicians concentrating on the presidential primaries. Can any of you direct me to a description of the likely course of the disease if you catch it. Just me and husband here. He knows his new work colleagues but I know no one yet. Working on the assumption we will effectively be on our own if one or both of us go down with this so just want to know what does Corbin 19 look like so I can do some prep. I’m guessing at a temperature and 14 days duration. Heard breathing difficult ( very frightening). This may not be a sensible question and if so sorry but if anyone can point me at a description I’d appreciate it.

Glittercandle · 05/03/2020 16:28

Would Herts count as South East or East of England?

But there may be people travelling to West London who could avoid going. DH travels to various offices and would cancel visiting any in high risk areas.

TheFormidableMrsC · 05/03/2020 16:29

@Glittercandle I've lived here all my life and always thought of Herts as South East. Our news is SE.

lilybetsy · 05/03/2020 16:29

I work in primary care. This illness is probably circulating and there are more cases than are being tested. This is because until now PHE will ONLY test people who have a travel Hx ( to a high risk place) AND the symptoms/ We have had a very likely case in a patient without travel Hx (works in a hotel)but they will not test them because they haven't travelled... the numbers are meaningless.

justchecking1 · 05/03/2020 16:30

I wish they would tell us how many cases came from 111 triage for those who meet criteria and how many came from random sentinel screening tests. If the sentinel ones are low, that would be reassuring, but I'm not even sure if they've done any testing yet? It just isn't clear

FaisPasCiFaisPasCa · 05/03/2020 16:32

From the Chinese WHO study

TheFormidableMrsC I think I can guess roughly where you might be, I’m in a small town off the A10 on the way up to Hertford. I am definitely curtailing my social acitivies because the Harlow one was community spread, and the South East category seems to be jumping at a greater rate than the other areas. We also have a very busy station with a train straight in to Stratford so I can see why it’s jumping!

Quartz2208 · 05/03/2020 16:32

Herts looks to be east of england

GPwife2411 · 05/03/2020 16:32

@lilybetsy - yes, agreed.

Delatron · 05/03/2020 16:32

The people who are sneering and think we are overreacting. Genuinely what to you think will happen now? Cases will get to a couple of hundred and die out? (Unlikely!).
You don’t have any elderly parents or family with health issues?

Or you think most of us who are affected will just get a mild illness ( now we know the definition of mild is like flu and maybe a touch of pneumonia)?

I wasn’t that worried a few weeks ago. But now the experts are worried then I am. Situations change.

QuietlyTerrified · 05/03/2020 16:32

Figleaf

From what I have read it starts with a sore throat, cough and a high fever for a few days. Then the muscle aching. After a couple of weeks it moves to the lungs and you have breathing trouble and inflamed lungs. After this you either recover or get pneumonia and it progresses. This is my understanding but I could be wrong. And yes it is very scary.

FaisPasCiFaisPasCa · 05/03/2020 16:32

That was for Figleaf

SisterAgatha · 05/03/2020 16:33

I’ve heard it called east of England too! I’m originally from north London but when I first moved here and registered to vote, I had to tick “east of England” to find the right office! Made me feel a bit lost tbh Grin

FourTeaFallOut · 05/03/2020 16:33

I wonder where the other 6 cases are in the North East?

Cismyfatarse1 · 05/03/2020 16:34

It might be in Oxford University. Not certain but one of the colleges has closed, plus the chapel.

SisterAgatha · 05/03/2020 16:34

For these purposes though it will be south east, I’m sure. East of England will be Ipswich/Norwich way.
