Well, it's a lot less than yesterday's increase so could be worse ...

BigChocFrenzy · 05/03/2020 16:04

Motorina's post on the last thread about WHO mild / "moderate" for 80% was really informative & important:

The WHO / public health definition of "moderate" seems completely different to the layman's - WHO mean pneumonia !

So 80% suffering mild / "moderate" illness is leading to false complacency

The statistics for people who have COVID-19:

40% mild
40% "moderate" = pneumonia
13.8% severe disease = need oxygen
6.1% critical = will die without very extensive hospital care (almost all who die will be from these)

Oakmaiden · 05/03/2020 16:04

So that is 115 in England, 6 in Scotland and 1 each in NI and Wales? Is that right?

The numbers who are not recent travellers are slowly creeping up.

Sunshinesky1981 · 05/03/2020 16:05

i made it 30 from yesterdays announcement which was 85
?

FaisPasCiFaisPasCa · 05/03/2020 16:05

What's significant is the 8 which are non-travel related. If they aren't related to each other that's a different picture.

ofwarren · 05/03/2020 16:05

There is a regional breakdown but tomorrow at 2pm there will be a chart showing actual towns and cities

SistemaAddict · 05/03/2020 16:06

The numbers are probably low due to the lack of testing unless you have been to any of the high risk areas. 111 aren't interested in anyone unless they've been to the hotspots from what people are saying.

Letseatgrandma · 05/03/2020 16:06

It was about 87 at the end of yesterday, wasn’t it? So 115 by 9am today is not a whole day’s worth?

Oakmaiden · 05/03/2020 16:07

Isn't it 30 new cases in England?

There were 85 yesterday.

Eeyoresstickhouse · 05/03/2020 16:07

Sorry my 25 jump was from the 90 we already knew including scotland.

Also need to know if they are found in the patients sampled as part of the serological survey or the ITU testing.

ploppityplop · 05/03/2020 16:08

so where are these?

GreggsSausageRolls · 05/03/2020 16:09

Cases have risen to 115, 25 of them in London....

GreggsSausageRolls · 05/03/2020 16:09

Sorry, that comma makes that figure looks scary, it should read 115 cases of which 25 are in London.

FourTeaFallOut · 05/03/2020 16:09

8 new cases just out there in the wild with no link to someone who has travelled abroad made is a worry. How many does that make of that type of patient it in total?

Oakmaiden · 05/03/2020 16:10

No, it is 25 more in England. They have 2 sets of figures which is confusing me...

ploppityplop · 05/03/2020 16:10

oh. I dont like the sound of that, I mean a densely populated area with the tube etc.......

cologne4711 · 05/03/2020 16:10

25 in London, that won't take long to increase. Husband works in CW and I am beginning to hope they start suggesting WFH for all

DH's firm definitely preparing for it. Sent an email today about sharing IT resources and asking who had decent laptops at home they can use, so they can lend firm laptops to those who don't. He's not in CW but has to use the tube to get to work.

Quartz2208 · 05/03/2020 16:10

bigchocfrenzy I agree I have said before I think that is part of the issue with saying flu like symptoms. I see moderate as being like severe flu/mild pneumonia which is far more than people are seeing. That can knock you out for 2-3 weeks and take a few months to get over completely

peachgreen · 05/03/2020 16:10

I'm breaking out the credit card to do the final store cupboard shop tonight I think. Time to get serious.

FourTeaFallOut · 05/03/2020 16:11

And, more importantly, where the fuck are they?

SuckingDieselFella · 05/03/2020 16:11

@Faybian
I am a current mature student. If the staff are chit-chatting to you about admissions it's highly unprofessional of them to do so. I have asked about admissions (for a very specific reason) and that's not what I've been told.

In any case, people reading this thread shouldn't rely on anecdotal evidence.

cjt110 · 05/03/2020 16:12

What's significant is the 8 which are non-travel related. If they aren't related to each other that's a different picture. Where does it say 8 are not travel related - I can't see it...?

Oakmaiden · 05/03/2020 16:12

So this is the UK data

here

And this is the England update
