Justchecking unless one of the 100 do you mean? Or do you mean outside of the 100 surgeries testing?

I don't understand, username?

What I'd like to see is a list of positives for people who meet the criteria to request a test themselves, so eg x/450 tested positive via calling 111 and being tested.

Then eg y/650 people tested positive after being randomly tested via the sentinel GP and ITU testing of all people who attend with flu symptoms or who have pneumonia.

The second numbers are far more important as they will tell us how far community spread has progressed.

We've been told the sentinel tests are starting but not when they will start or if they have started already and not what results they're throwing up. It's so frustrating knowing data is being collected but not shared!

Delatron · 05/03/2020 16:50

Since many of the new cases are catching it in the U.K. now, surely it’s time to broaden the testing criteria? Otherwise we are going to miss lots of cases...

RhubarbTea · 05/03/2020 16:51

It looks as though it as reached Cornwall although they are not saying which bit of the county. Link here.

AutumnRose1 · 05/03/2020 16:53

“ WHERE in London are those 25?!”

I’m a Londoner too. Why would you want that information? We’re using the Tube, we’re working with people who commute. What use would that information be?

Springinsight · 05/03/2020 16:53

'' enjoy your journey, planes are cleaned regularly and professionally ''

It's utter hogwash like this that worries people.

How many of you have Been on an easy jet turn around, clearing out our rubbish whilst the next passengers are waiting to board?
Umm where is the regular safe professional cleaning please to remove that stubborn covid virus, enjoying life on an arm rest?

Enjoy the flight.... Fuck off.

Germany 444 +182

Furfockssake · 05/03/2020 16:54

@Delatron it would be good to know, but essentially I don't think it matters if they miss people at this point. We may miss cases, but we’ve moved, or are moving out, of the containment phase so they’re expecting a huge number to get it 🤷‍♀️ I think we just brace for impact, and assume in two weeks it’s going to be everywhere.

FaisPasCiFaisPasCa · 05/03/2020 16:55

the travel editor on bbc news is dreadful. Still persuading everyone to travel as much as possible. 'A wonderful time to be a traveller....' 'it is not a significant risk'

flissity · 05/03/2020 16:57

@FaisPasCiFaisPasCa Simon Calder is always like that 🤣 ultra positive

usernameishistory · 05/03/2020 16:58

Justtesting
I was makit reference to the testing figures you quoted and where they came from, as in, are these the 100 testing surgeries? Or did you mean what you quoted was in addition to the 100?

Springinsight · 05/03/2020 16:59

Even with the crap testing mechanism we have, I don't think the numbers are that high today.

I felt this week would be very telling, half term returns.

I did read somewhere that the brits hands off greeting could be going in our favour ie rather than the kissing on cheeks etc favoured by our continental cousins.

Re Boris and the letting it run rampant comment. I thought the context was that there was '' some of thought '' by medics that that's one option but Boris doesn't agree and feels this step approach is better because of the NHS.

Skyejuly · 05/03/2020 16:59

So frustrating we dont have exact locations

Springinsight · 05/03/2020 17:00

Fais

It was the clean plane comment that irked me

justchecking1 · 05/03/2020 17:00

We still need accurate figures though. If not, we'll have no idea when we've reached the peak or when numbers are starting to decline.
We also need location figures in order to better plan distribution of NHS services.

SirVixofVixHall · 05/03/2020 17:02

I would like to know where in Wales. Are they releasing that info tomorrow ?

SirVixofVixHall · 05/03/2020 17:02

Also where in greater London.

FaisPasCiFaisPasCa · 05/03/2020 17:02

You only find what you're looking for.

We're only looking for symptomatic travellers and their contacts and that's what we're finding.

Not even symptomatic contacts of travellers, according to justchecking.

SnoozyLou · 05/03/2020 17:03

But Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the government's scientific advisory group for emergencies (Sage) had told him that closing schools and stopping big gatherings "don't work as well perhaps as people think in stopping the spread".
*
He told ITV's This Morning programme: "One of the theories is perhaps you could take it on the chin, take it all in one go and allow the disease to move through the population without really taking as many draconian measures. I think we need to strike a balance."*
*
Mr Johnson said it would be "business as usual" for the "overwhelming majority" of people in the UK.*

I think this says it all.

TheFishingTrip2019 · 05/03/2020 17:03

ofwarren · 05/03/2020 17:03

New York: 11 new cases of coronavirus in Westchester County and 2 new cases in New York City, mayor says - WABC

DonkeyKong2019 · 05/03/2020 17:04

I don't think it's not Dorset yet!

usernameishistory · 05/03/2020 17:04

Who is we... When you say we need to know location location figires to plan services...are you NHS planning?

I'm not sure what 'we' [populace] do with location information

How would we /should we change our behaviours?

Springinsight · 05/03/2020 17:05

The man on sky news.

Said there is a '' spark '' it's Likely this is why gov been cautious because we will see significant numbers soon.

Eeyoresstickhouse · 05/03/2020 17:05

@DonkeyKong2019 that is where I am and I haven't heard anything. It seems around us but not hit here yet.

Delatron · 05/03/2020 17:06

Yes I want accurate figures. Like other countries release. So Italy is 3,029. They don’t just go ‘oh it’s everywhere let’s not test people. It’s roughly a few thousand!
Even China contributed to release figures.

That information is important to track the spread and how the disease is progressing/spreading.

This is my worry, that it is the government’s tactic with only testing people who have been to affected areas. When we know know there is person to person transmission in the U.K. now.
