Just to throw it out there.. You all know active world wide cases have actually been falling since mid February...

FaisPasCiFaisPasCa · 04/03/2020 19:00

WHO have not mentioned 2 types-I'm sure because it is just not a helpful finding.

MargotB7 · 04/03/2020 19:00

Thank you

I visited a hospital today (for a non coronavirus related inspection) and noticed that outpatients were being asked if they had travelled abroad in the past 2 weeks. I work at a different hospital that's much bigger and they've not been questioning patients there. There seems to be some inconsistencies across medical sites.

littlealexhorne · 04/03/2020 19:02

Have they said how many of those who've been diagnosed after coming back from abroad had self isolated?

HeresMe · 04/03/2020 19:04

I am on a London bus where a woman is coughing all over everyone in the vicinity without even trying to contain it. The probability is that she doesn't have CV, but why have people not got the message that this is Not OK? Whatever the lurgy, I don't want it.

I get a cough whenever I go from warm air to cold air, it's not even lurgy. My mum gets a cough every year.

You know it's season for coughs colds ect.

Sorry if this has been discussed but on the last thread about why Singapore has very little cases and high recovery rate, and that it could be down to their healthcare etc

If you look at the countries with the smallest numbers and/or highest recovery rate eg Singapore - Vietnam - Thailand - Macau - Australia - Malaysia - these are experiencing temperatures currently in their 20s and 30s degree Celsius.

MargotB7 · 04/03/2020 19:04

I have mentioned on an earlier thread about my parents in their 60s coming back from Tenerife. Should I advise them to self isolate as both retired? Or will them think I'm a complete nutter?

Jrobhatch29 · 04/03/2020 19:04

@swingchandelier thats what i thought. They normally adapt to cause less severe symptoms but more contagious? Who honestly knows! Im still really concerned about 11% being in itu in italy!

pussycatinboots · 04/03/2020 19:08

Has anyone else stopped wearing rings and bracelets, or is it just me?

BiBiBirdie · 04/03/2020 19:08

@tud41 where is that from please?
I genuinely hope so

As for types of virus. I think it will mutate, it's inevitable. How soon it does though no idea. I doubt enough testing has been done yet to know for sure. I think some media has to have a constant source of conjecture- news paper people are probably inwardly chuffed as there will no doubt be far more people visiting their sites or buying their papers whilst this goes on.

mymigraine · 04/03/2020 19:08

@warren did you say you know names of people testing covid + after recovery

BoJoMoFo · 04/03/2020 19:08

Sorry it's from the Mirror, but this article gives more of a breakdown of where cases are now... seems they're concentrated in the North West and London

www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/coronavirus-uk-disease-hit-confirmed-21633138

BoJoMoFo · 04/03/2020 19:09

The article doesn't cover all 87 cases but gives an idea of concentrations

What I feel so pissed off about is that we have an opportunity NOW to stop this thing, if we took the drastic measures necessary. Unfortunately I don't see this happening, so my fear is we will end up like Italy. ( or God forbid, Iran). We are talking about over half a million people dead. We could stop this now, if the political will was there. I just don't feel this amatuer, half arsed, Dad's Army approach is gonna cut it.

SistemaAddict · 04/03/2020 19:16

Dads Army would do better.

@tud41 do you have a source for that graph please? I'm wondering if the active cases are decreasing due to all the deaths and recoveries and therefore the new cases don't look quite so many. Of that makes some kind of sense. I'm tired with a headache and trying to get ds to bed so might not be clear.

ChipotleBlessing · 04/03/2020 19:17

That Mirror article is interesting. Adding up the numbers it does look like there’s a cluster in the south east where no information has been given. Or it could just be their public health bodies haven’t made announcements yet.

EnidBlyton · 04/03/2020 19:17

what are the drastic measures?

ofwarren · 04/03/2020 19:17

I took my wedding ring off and so has my husband @pussycatinboots

Jrobhatch29 · 04/03/2020 19:18

@tud41 i think the decline is because for the last week or so china has been discharging around 2000 people a day

Meruem · 04/03/2020 19:19

I'm finding channel 4 news to be quite good at the moment. They just had an interview with the advisor to the director general (i think it was) of the WHO. He said some very interesting things. He noted that China's child rates of illness were low as it broke while the schools were already closed for 2 weeks and they didn't reopen. Although he did say he didn't think children were particularly at risk, more so is the danger of them spreading it. But ch4 coverage seems quite in depth but factual.
