@oakmaiden My brother was hospitalized with an infectious disease (he had pneumonia as did the other patients on the ward - there were six in total) beginning of December. Staff and all visitors had to where gowns etc including facemasks when entering. My mother was whinging about it though about 'well what's the point wearing all this, I've already been exposed' ffs Angry. She comes in contact with a lot of the older generation (75+) and is no spring chicken herself.

stoptherideiwanttogetoff · 05/03/2020 14:17

No new update on numbers today 🤷‍♀️ now I'm really concerned..

SistemaAddict · 05/03/2020 14:18

@justchecking1 that's very true and translates to domestic abuse situations I imagine. Over time you be one accepting and normalise what is very much more normal or otherwise you wouldn't cope.

I have bread baking and my borrowed cat. The scent of the bread and the purr of the cat are both soothing.

Letseatgrandma · 05/03/2020 14:19

If they are now going to publish stats at 2pm but are waiting 24 hours so they can be verified for accuracy, then maybe there won’t be a release of numbers at all today?

usernameishistory · 05/03/2020 14:19

Reinfection rates (man (Mr Li) dies after leaving hospital-after double testing negative) into quarantine and returned to hospital where he soon after died)

I have yet to glean any information across all the threads aboit reinfection rates and viral load levels

cjt110 · 05/03/2020 14:19

@ShanghaiDiva Did I see that you were in China at the beginning of the outbreak... Can you share how it unfolded over there?

having a plan b if you or a family member is ill is more important imo. I was talking to DH about self isolation. We live in an apartment - our bedroom is upstairs with an ensuite so we would have to just hole ourself up in the bedroom. The problem would become if DS was still at school and one of us working. Or worse still, DS school closed, one of us working and one of us ill!

KenAdams · 05/03/2020 14:19

New thread here for when its needed as this one is moving fast - www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/3840088-Coronovirus-thread-13?watched=1

Oakmaiden · 05/03/2020 14:19

Could it be that they don't want a panic as they are so high?

More likely whoever's job it is to publish them is in the middle of something more important and just hasn't done it yet. Or there is a query they want to check before they make them public. Or even they have, as suggested above, decided to operate a day behind (which would mean they won't publish at all today). I don't think it is because the numbers are so high they want to avoid a panic because if it were that I think the govt would be announcing measures this morning, rather than doing their normal fudge.

anappleadaykeeps · 05/03/2020 14:19

I have just typed up a 1 page A4 on "What to do if Mummy gets Corona Virus", and sent copies to wider family. I'm a single mum. Children are fairly sensible, but only 11 and 13.

DressingGownofDoom · 05/03/2020 14:20

@Letseatgrandma that's the locations you're thinking of.

TokyoSushi · 05/03/2020 14:20

I also just wanted to say thank you for these threads. I've been here for a long time and like the Brexit threads, I'm here as a very (non-ghoulish) interested person who's keen to learn more about any situation.

These threads have been hugely helpful and have sen MW awarded the title of 'Coronavuirus Champion' for our workplace!

ScatteredMama82 · 05/03/2020 14:21

The update is late today. They must release something, there would be an uproar if they didn't.

DressingGownofDoom · 05/03/2020 14:21

'More likely whoever's job it is to publish them is in the middle of something more important and just hasn't done it yet'

Maybe they're having their tea Grin

cjt110 · 05/03/2020 14:21

@usernameishistory forgive me if my undestanding may be rudimentary but in tests, such as for coeliac disease, or other immunology based tests, you can get a false negative result and still have a sensitivity/intolerance to a product. Could that be a simialr thing here where there is a false negative as the infection hasn't peaked in the individual to be detected?

TokyoSushi · 05/03/2020 14:21

**seen me awarded

MinkowskisButterfly · 05/03/2020 14:21

There has been mentioned earlier on the 3 new cases in scotland bringing total to 90, maybe that is today's total? Maybe no more cases have been picked up? (Fingers crossed).

I am following bbc and John's Hopkins map for figures, is that where everyone is getting them from. Also, where is everyone getting localities (uk) from as the two sites I'm using don5gove that detail.

GorkyMcPorky · 05/03/2020 14:21

If they are now going to publish stats at 2pm but are waiting 24 hours so they can be verified for accuracy, then maybe there won’t be a release of numbers at all today?

If that were the case, you'd hope they'd have said so.

WouldShouldCould · 05/03/2020 14:22

Can the next thread have the links which were on thread nine? It was really helpful to have all the information laid out clearly

Letseatgrandma · 05/03/2020 14:22

@DressingGownofDoom

Fair enough, but it seems odd that the website says it’ll be refreshed at 2pm every day and today it hasn’t been.

www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public#number-of-cases

Banana0pancakes · 05/03/2020 14:22

They've been late quite a few times before so it's probably the same today

SistemaAddict · 05/03/2020 14:22

Well, to be fair, nothing should interrupt a good old cup of tea!

Hugglespuffed · 05/03/2020 14:22

Surely they would let us know if they aren't going to update today?! Argh. It is scary not knowing.

usernameishistory · 05/03/2020 14:23

Nicepud has actually been really rude and unsupportive, more so than most ive seen on this thread, calling people dicks and just being genrally judgemental.

It doesn't help anyone

ScatteredMama82 · 05/03/2020 14:23

@Bercows in fairness, those working at the DHSC probably haven't slept or eaten properly for days! I don't grudge them a cuppa :)

ofwarren · 05/03/2020 14:24

It's been as late as 4:30 before
