@FourTeaFallOut
Italy reports 587 new cases of coronavirus and 28 new deaths, raising total to 3,089 cases and 107 dead t.co/eUoE2b20hL

SansaSnark · 04/03/2020 18:03

@VivaLeBeaver AFIAK, schools with a known pupil or staff case are still currently closing for 2 weeks. I think schools with more distant contacts (e.g. parents) are also closing for shorter amounts of time to deep clean.

I haven't seen anything yet to suggest individual schools are staying open with a diagnosed case.

onalongsabbatical · 04/03/2020 18:03

crispycracker that headline is worrying in the extreme, but the article is annoyingly paywalled of course. I expect the info in it will be out somewhere else soon...

GenevaMaybe · 04/03/2020 18:03

3000 cases in Italy. I think the UK will follow a similar trajectory

hoovermyrug · 04/03/2020 18:03

Marking place

FelicityFebruary · 04/03/2020 18:03

Bercows same here.

I'm placemarking as I'm taking the lead from the poster who just said it's a marathon. I'm having dinner, bath and very early bed.

auslass · 04/03/2020 18:06

Great, hubby's work just said they might initiate their work from policy because of some suspected cases in his office. Hope its a false alarm 🚨

yolofish · 04/03/2020 18:06

PMK. Have 3 trips abroad (France, Holland and Italy) planned for next 4 months, plus immunosuppressed DH, DD1 working in Alps, DD2 commuting to London daily. I think its absolutely inevitable now.

MarshaBradyo · 04/03/2020 18:07

I want Dh to take it seriously and think about wfh which seems prudent and a good idea.

Letseatgrandma · 04/03/2020 18:09

Someone posted this the other day about how the cases in Italy were developing. Is that a faster rate than here in the early days?

I'm so annoyed they've decided to stop releasing the locations. I mentioned a few threads back about someone posting in an online group claiming there had been several cases diagnosed in my town, which I could thankfully dismiss as fake as no cases had been reported formally in my county. Without the offical information being available, it will only become easier for these false rumours to spread and therefore a rise in panicking.

I'm becoming increasing worried by the government's behaviour around this.

onalongsabbatical · 04/03/2020 18:13

Fab crispycracker thanks for doing that! Star

FelicityFebruary · 04/03/2020 18:13

I agree littlealex. Transparency is the best policy.

SunburstsOrMarbleHalls · 04/03/2020 18:14

One of the new cases today has been confirmed to be from Liverpool

Spacecadetagain · 04/03/2020 18:15

So they are saying the more aggressive form could have burnt out ?

middleager · 04/03/2020 18:16

Agree Bercows and Littleaxe

Spacecadetagain · 04/03/2020 18:17

Hmm Daily Fail seem to be suggesting the L type may be burning out by the other article suggests not .. bloody hell

Nicepud · 04/03/2020 18:20

Mil and Fil leaving for Benidorm earlyvtomorrow morning.

Not entirely sure she tgought DH was serious when he said she couldn't come round fir 14 days after she gets back (she usually visits regularly to see dc after school)

ShockShock

LarkDescending · 04/03/2020 18:20

Flybe might collapse as soon as tonight, according to BBC 6pm news.

SansaSnark · 04/03/2020 18:22

@Spacecadetagain I don't want to click a Daily Mail link, but I wouldn't trust any science reporting from them.

"Burning out" is completely unscientific phrasing as well. What can happen is that new mutations make it harder for the virus to replicate itself- the replicating using our cells is a large part of why viruses make us ill.

Hope you enjoy your evening. It is exhausting to follow this, like a never ending disaster movie. I'm glad we have this thread but we all need time out to recharge too.
