@MissPoldark I didn't mean all the family, I meant the hundreds across the world that seem to be taking it home from Italy.

Even this article in the Guardian mentions that most infections are in families and quotes the 2 meters and 15 minutes thing, but that doesn't fit with loads of holiday makers taking it home with them.
British public demands more information on coronavirus cases

@KenAdams do you thing that has something to do with the COBRA meeting?

NEW: King County in Washington state urges people 60 and older, people with underlying health issues, and pregnant people to stay home and away from large groups due to coronavirus

Hubby's office on lockdown tomorrow. Wasn't a false alarm. Suspected cases being tested for.

BunsyGirl · 04/03/2020 21:26

@IceWings are they taking the same approach for holidays to France and Germany which have almost the same number of cases as Japan does?

MissPoldark · 04/03/2020 21:27

Oh ok, yes see what you mean. Prof Ferguson on radio 4 this morning estimated there could be as many as 50,000 to 100,000 cases in Italy.

Awkward1 · 04/03/2020 21:27

Well assuming all these Italy returnees didn't self isolate as many were not in the area etc, I would be firing whoever have such shit advise! All of Italy should have been in the isolate 14 days.
It's exactly like the Wigan vs China flights. Can't be wrong with whole of country (although seeming not for Italy for some reason. )

They are being very quiet 're long term effects. There was talk of it affecting boys and SAR s affected some people's lungs.

FlyBe have just gone bust. Blaming corvid19.

#CANADA: All Nova Scotia schools cancel international trips over #coronavirus concerns.

VivaLeBeaver · 04/03/2020 21:31

I’ve just watched the bbc Pandemic programme on Iplayer, the one where they simulated a pandemic in Haselmere.

Virus they used was more infectious but with a lower mortality rate than coronavirus appears to have. They modelled over 800,000 deaths in the U.K. if not contained. But interestingly good hand hygiene measures reduced this by over 25%. Hand washing matters a lot.

I think brainwashing is important

Best typo of the day!

Namechanger20183110 · 04/03/2020 21:32

@AnyOldSpartabix As said in the same WHO statement, the 3.4% figure is massively skewed by the 6.6% death rate in the US, which is hugely undertesting, more so than any other nation. When they start testing proper numbers, that will adjust it

NormaLouiseBates · 04/03/2020 21:32

As a PP mentioned a little while ago, I too am really surprised that Crufts hasn't been cancelled... people literally travel for it from all over the world as well as from every part of the UK.

kateandme · 04/03/2020 21:34

james bond has delayed its release date due to the virus!
"no bond i expect you to die another day."..

Glittercandle · 04/03/2020 21:35

CallmeAngelina I’ve got London theatre tickets for Saturday- DD and I are still going but it will probably be the last time we have a day out in a crowded place like that. Was going to book tickets for a show in the Easter holiday but decided against it for the moment.

I often felt like washing my brain after soft play Grin Smile Grin

tud41 · 04/03/2020 21:35

Flybe have been on the brink of collapse for six months.. They can blame the virus all they like but it is a pathetic excuse so people dont blame poor management of the company like with thomas cook!

RedToothBrush · 04/03/2020 21:36

When they start testing proper numbers, that will adjust it

You are optimistic.

Its the US. People can't afford to get tested and a Trump led government won't foot the bill.

KenAdams · 04/03/2020 21:36

@Gammeldragz no - preparations were beginning to gain momentum at the end of last week.

tud41 · 04/03/2020 21:37

hand washing matters alot... Dont mention that on this thread, people won't dare admit that our government did something right in really pushing this more than anything!

SistemaAddict · 04/03/2020 21:38

I admit to being properly worried now. It's parents evening this week and I don't want to be mingling with hundreds of parents and students. I'm hoping they postpone it. I wish the government would do something instead of leaving us all in anxious suspense with no direction.

peridito · 04/03/2020 21:38

@daisypond if there are dx cases at Kings they will be isolated and I'm sure excellent controls will be in place .

This is sostressful for people who are attending hospital for treatment and who are immunesuppresed .I'm so sorry Flowers

tud41 · 04/03/2020 21:39

@RedToothBrush the premis is still the same tho that the figures will be screwed and we will probably never know the true mortality rate because of this I guess...

Namechanger20183110 · 04/03/2020 21:40

@RedToothBrush if he wants to win the election he won't have much choice

tud41 · 04/03/2020 21:40
