Carlisle Cumbria south west lo don pupil Kingston academy, one patient in Wythenshaw hospital... No idea if it broke out in Wythenshaw?

Number12 · 04/03/2020 14:44

That was in the mirror by the way

pedanticstyleguide · 04/03/2020 14:44

I just spotted this, which is very interesting. It is for Ireland, rather than for the UK, but given consumer law is very largely based on EU law in both countries, the advice is likely to hold for the UK too:

This is the result, or part of it, of the sentinel testing I imagine?
Can anyone clarify - are the govt releasing figures every day, but locations weekly, or just the numbers weekly?

User1775564212 · 04/03/2020 14:44

As of today, due to the number of new cases, we will no longer be tweeting information on the location of each new case. Instead, this information will be released centrally in a consolidated format online, once a week. We are working on this now and plan to share on Friday

Maybe they just mean it won’t be tweeted by them, not that it won’t be released?

Whatsmyname2019 · 04/03/2020 14:45

That’s not on is it if they won’t release numbers or areas. Surely that’ll start more rumours and panic

User1775564212 · 04/03/2020 14:46

But if that is the case my DC won’t be going into school next week.

pedanticstyleguide · 04/03/2020 14:46

Completely unrelated but also saw this about gift vouchers: www.ccpc.ie/business/new-gift-voucher-legislation-what-businesses-need-to-know/

We need this in the UK too!

Number12 · 04/03/2020 14:46

I need to know locations its about risk assessment for me. My anxiety will spiral otherwise. We need an app.

I have a JC appt tomorrow (disabled so it's a one-off appt, not a frequent thing), and have to use public transport to get there. Great.

almondlattecheesecake · 04/03/2020 14:47

This is truly frightening.

I'm appalled that the Government think they can withhold such crucial information.

I've created a petition here - please sign, and share widely.

Agree Number12
My only option if I don't know, is to stay in.

why don't they just stop the appointments until say after Easter? There's really no real need for people to turn up every week or every fortnight.

confusedandtired99 · 04/03/2020 14:49

Signed the petition. Thank you

I live and work in London and am asthmatic with other underlying health issues. If there's a cluster in London I want to know so that I can work from home. Fortunately I can work from home most days. Unfortunately my disability affects my mobility and means I can't always walk the 20 mins from the train station I arrive at to my office, so I have to catch the tube or bus sometimes. So staying at home more means on the days I do have to go in to the office I can do the walk twice in one day. I would still have to catch the train into central London, but it's a lot quieter than the tube and hopefully reducing my public transport will lower the risk a little.

I’m wondering what happened to everyone who came home from the hotel in Tenerife? Did they get quarantined or self isolate? It seems reasonable based on the diamond princess that more cases have come to light?

unluckyagain · 04/03/2020 14:53

But what would you do if you did know? I'm in London, even if all 85 cases were in London it wouldn't change what I do. And most people have to go to work and carry on with their daily lives. It only fuels anxiety and possible panic.

I haven't changed my behaviour much; I'm already scrupulous about hand washing as I'm self employed and if I get sick and can't work I don't get paid. So it's always been a priority for me.

There are more than 85 people living within a 5 minute walk from my house.

I'm worried. Of course I am, my DH is very high risk for a number of reasons. But catastrophising and panic doesn't help anyone.

SirVixofVixHall · 04/03/2020 14:53

I agree that shutting down non essential travel before half term would have bought us more time. I realise the economy is also important but lives are at stake, and the government are not doing enough I feel.

Spacecadetagain · 04/03/2020 14:54

@Stircrazyschoolmum they are in quarantine until 10th March

confusedandtired99 · 04/03/2020 14:54

It takes away your freedom to make informed choices in my opinion.
