I think they are not telling us where because they have a community cluster (or most of them are in London and it would shut down)

MinkowskisButterfly · 04/03/2020 14:23

Sorry if this is posted up thread but xant find it anywhere, does anyone have a link to a uk map of cases or something, I know some of the cases are close but not too close but would just like to keep an eye on it.

User1775564212 · 04/03/2020 14:23

Dept of Health have said on their twitter page that they won't be telling us locations daily anymore due to the increased number of cases, and that they will be doing it weekly from now on - Friday apparently.

That’s outrageous!

FelicityFebruary · 04/03/2020 14:23

Alib the school may be waking up to this now? You are doing well for trying.

SunburstsOrMarbleHalls · 04/03/2020 14:23

3 of the cases are reported to have contracted the virus from within the UK

Konicek007 · 04/03/2020 14:23

Where do you read 85? I can’t see it anywhere on bbc or worldmeter..

IceWings · 04/03/2020 14:23

imagine how absolutely horrible it would be for people if they are asked to give up their dogs
Over my dead body will anyone touch my dog. He’s my second child and they can ask all they want but they’re not having him, they’ll have to shoot me first.

Tiredmumno1 · 04/03/2020 14:24

@User1775564212 it just popped up on sky news.

RAINSh0wers · 04/03/2020 14:24

I’m seeing 85 on the evening standard, just had an alert pop up on my phone.

pedanticstyleguide · 04/03/2020 14:25

They can't bail out flybe now surely. They're just the first of many and everyone would then expect a bail out

Flybe provides essential domestic routes eg to NI, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands. The holiday flights to Barbados are somewhat less important.

85 cases is quite a lot, just waiting for more employers to tell their employees to work from home (those who can). I wonder if they close schools they will also close 6th form colleges and university level establishments. Has Italy closed universities or just schools?

Banana0pancakes · 04/03/2020 14:25

@User1775564212 search for department of health and social care on Twitter. That's where they're releasing the information each day. Well apart from the locations now...

Wehttam · 04/03/2020 14:26

Thanks Bunsy! Either people are stockpiling for illicit trade down the line or they are worried about future supply issues, which it would appear is a self fulfilling prophecy.

anywinewilldonow · 04/03/2020 14:26

Notice how many tests there have been though - well over two thousand. Could that be catch up cases from the weekend, and that's why it's such a big jump?

Scary

RedToothBrush · 04/03/2020 14:27

Public trust will be undermined by not saying where those cases are.

They want to stop panic in hotspots but it could backfire and result in panic everywhere.

I think we were half expecting a big jump today when results for those contact traced at the end of last week came through.

This also would explain why the Doh might be suddenly reluctant to release details of where cases are - because there's transmission in the UK going on.

IceWings · 04/03/2020 14:27

3 of the cases are reported to have contracted the virus from within the UK
Oh really. Then why does the NHS still persist in refusing to acknowledge the symptoms of anyone who hasn’t been abroad? And they’re still telling you to only isolate if you’ve travelled to high risk areas.

Spacecadetagain · 04/03/2020 14:27

Sky news are reporting 85 confirmed cases but I can’t link on my phone

SouthwarkRoad · 04/03/2020 14:27

Honestly I thought it would be more than that.

Youngatheart00 · 04/03/2020 14:27

Very sinister that they’re not longer stating the location of cases, and that they’re stopping the daily updates. Somethings being covered up....

Catmaiden · 04/03/2020 14:27

Wow. 😱
Its taking off here, isn't it.
I've got adult DS at a Uni in a town with confirmed cases, ☹️

Both DH and I are in "at risk " categories😬.

I have to do a run to post some stuff and collect a parcel today, and will use the chance to get perishables from the shop, but apart from that we are going to hunker down at home and stay away from people.

We've cancelled social stuff, will just walk around the farmland for amusement.

Any one else thinking "thank god I prepared stores, just in case?"
I know I am. I hate feeling that I was right, but glad I've got good supplies of meds, hand gel, food, animal feed etc, and can just stay put at home.
Very Worried about DS, though ☹️
Thinking about people who have no choice but to go out to go to work, school, etc ☹️

Wehttam · 04/03/2020 14:28

HRH yep you are probably right there, it’s either a cluster in London or elsewhere and they’re concerned people will demand full shutdown of said area.

User1775564212 · 04/03/2020 14:28

Are they effing serious that they aren’t going to tell us where the new cases are? I am truly shocked and very angry. How are we supposed to make informed decisions about the safety of our at risk family members?!

RedToothBrush · 04/03/2020 14:28

Dept of Health have said on their twitter page that they won't be telling us locations daily anymore due to the increased number of cases, and that they will be doing it weekly from now on - Friday apparently.

Interesting change of tone and strategy...

Welshwabbit · 04/03/2020 14:28

If you look at the additional tests done between the various days, it's not a surprise that there's been a bigger jump today.

29 Feb 10,483 tested, 23 positive
1 March 11,715 tested, 35 positive
2 March 13,525 tested, 40 positive
3 March 13,911 tested, 51 positive
4 March 16,659 tested, 85 positive

So on 3 March there were 11 new cases from 386 new tests; today 34 new cases from 2748 new tests (3 March 2.8% positive, today 1.2% positive). Suspect there was some lagging of test results.

Wehttam · 04/03/2020 14:29

South it could be, but easy does it...

IceWings · 04/03/2020 14:29

Very sinister that they’re not longer stating the location of cases
Indeed. Surely we have a right to information?
