@QueenofmyPrinces I don't think you are being ridiculous at all. I would be concerned travelling out there and having to stay in isolation. I would much prefer to be at home. I'm due to fly to the states in 4 weeks and feeling very anxious about it Confused

woodencoffeetable · 04/03/2020 14:13

similar here: primary school is great about hand hygiene.
they had a special assembly and the pta organised hand soad & refills and paper towels.
secondary...well we reminded dc about handwashing and general hygiene. but teenagers are teenagers Hmm

Fourducksate · 04/03/2020 14:14

I’ve just got off the train from Manchester, an elderly man coughing intermittently with a dry cough and didn’t once use his hand. A young girl, sneezing into her hands, no tissue. I really felt like saying something.

If the dog having it is correct, I bet that will make a lot more people realise the severity, in my experience animals are extremely emotive. Will Crufts go ahead?

sparkly72 · 04/03/2020 14:14

85... wow that's quite a jump. What number will my parents/in-laws need it to be until they take it seriously?

Hasa they’re stuck between a rock and a hard place because of the job losses and the image that creates but also because as you say it would be expected if Virgin or others needed a bailout. The job losses could be horrific from this with no recovery insight for a good while.

Also this is just the airline industry, retail is going to be be a disaster, this will nail HOF and Debenhams coffins shut for ever as people stay away from the shops for the next couple of months at least. Those companies would expect government help too. It’s a crippling effect IF it gets to the stages like Italy etc.

Can I wake up from this now please.

FelicityFebruary · 04/03/2020 14:16

@RazzleDazzle26, I did a bit of internet googling and running cold water plus soap does the job.

If anyone knows otherwise let me know!

ofwarren · 04/03/2020 14:16

They aren't going to tell us where any more 😭

Spacecadetagain · 04/03/2020 14:16

85 😳 bloody hell.

Konicek007 · 04/03/2020 14:17

I was in Boots today and I felt disgusted.
An sales assistant sneezed, I could clearly see the mist around, she had no tissue, or even used her elbow or sleeve - nothing...
Just laughed it off.
I could not believe it.
Also went to Asda,, Tesco and Sainsbury’s- all business as usual, nothing sold out, loads of toilet paper, water, pasta... apart from hand gel obviously..

SisterAgatha · 04/03/2020 14:17

Fourducksate Do say something. I usually shout TISSUE sternly and that spurs them in to action with no comeback, they think you are mad enough to kick off so just do as they’re told.

YoursTunbridgeWells · 04/03/2020 14:17

I know a couple of the new cases are in London. Tube travellers.

Konicek007 · 04/03/2020 14:18

Lots of people outside and in shops coughed today, no tissues nothing..

SistemaAddict · 04/03/2020 14:18

If have reported her under normal circumstances but especially now.
We've just had advice via school. Hopefully the families who have been in areas that require self isolation will now keep their children away.

Tonkerbea · 04/03/2020 14:19

They aren't telling us??

I feel utterly powerless.

BunsyGirl · 04/03/2020 14:19

@Wehttam

We received the following email yesterday from eBay:

Dear seller,

Considering the global developments associated with Covid-19 (Coronavirus) and our dedication to delivering a safe and trusted marketplace, we would like to remind you of eBay’s Listing Policies:
Health claims and misuse of keywords: titles and item descriptions containing health claims and misusing terms such as "Coronavirus", "Covid-19", ‘Virus”, "epidemic" are prohibited.
Prices inflated above prevailing market value: listings that attempt to profit from tragedies and disasters (such as the Coronavirus outbreak) are prohibited.
Laws and Regulations: we recognise this is a fast changing situation. We advise sellers to always check local laws and regulations when listing. We will continue to monitor the situation globally and provide further updates as necessary.
eBay requests that all sellers who have live listings offering items such as face masks, hand sanitiser gel or wipes, etc., review their listings and make sure that they comply with eBay Listing policies.

Activity that doesn't follow eBay Listing policies could result in a range of actions, such as eBay ending or cancelling your relevant listings, hiding or demoting all listings from search results, lowering your seller rating, enforcing buying or selling restrictions, or suspending your account.

To learn more about the policies and make sure your listings are compliant, we invite you to read our three most relevant policies on this topic: Prescription and over-the-counter drugs policy, Disaster and Tragedy policy, and Search manipulation policy .

Thanks for selling with us,

The eBay team

@woodencoffeetable, ah yes the teenager. We are just at the "mother is SUCH an idiot" stage.

My adult child is actually being brilliant all round, also says college students using hand gel sanitizer at lunch time.

ScatteredMama82 · 04/03/2020 14:19

85 cases now, huge jump :(

georgeggg · 04/03/2020 14:20

Why won't they be telling us where?

Pebble21uk · 04/03/2020 14:20

I was in a local small seaside (retirement) town this morning about 7 miles away from confirmed cases. I heard elderly people in at least 2 shops ask for hand sanitiser and were told the whole town was sold out. The elderly aren't so likely to shop online and many only travel locally - so once again the most vulnerable are left behind.

Quartz2208 · 04/03/2020 14:21

Yes that is very much the balance how much can you shut down because the implications/job losses/potential deaths from it are just as scary/likely as from the virus himself

And that is the problem the Government have - and the other thing is you cannot simply look at a death rate of 3.4% as being a simplistic measurement either

BoJoMoFo · 04/03/2020 14:21

85!!!!

OMG

Dept of Health have said on their twitter page that they won't be telling us locations daily anymore due to the increased number of cases, and that they will be doing it weekly from now on - Friday apparently.

I was exaggerating when I perdicted 70 today - actually pretty worried now.

furrytoebean · 04/03/2020 14:21

I think the statutory sick pay being given on day one is a pathetic move to be honest it's just passing the burden to businesses.
As a small business owner how am I supposed to pay for that? I work in the fitness industry my business is going to be ruined over this.
If no customers come to my business I'm still expected to pay rent, business rates, accountancy fees, software fees and all the other running costs. If my staff then all need to self isolate I'll be well and truly fucked.

Hugglespuffed · 04/03/2020 14:21

85! Wow wasn't expecting that.

User1775564212 · 04/03/2020 14:22

Where are you all getting this info from??!! Cannot see 85 on any online news source!?
