Sorry guys! Assumed it was an up to date map. Cannot fucking believe they are not giving the locations of the latest cases!!!!!

MurrayTheMonk · 03/03/2020 15:57

This is now making me annoyed as much as worried
'Working with social care for a solution' to when carers get sick. There's not been a solution to the shortage of carers without bloody Coronavirus never mind now it's a potential problem! It's just such bullshit really...

Awkward1 · 03/03/2020 15:58

Can we not insist on more dramatic measure.?
I agree with p.o. And would also say working from home from now. It seems like they want to get a few going then try to slow it.

It is a bit of a conflict of interest
Gov
Economy
Jobs
Their pensions and stock market
Climate improvement
Vs

Older people/those with health issues
-pension costs
-nhs costs
Social care
Housing

Will the losses in economy now balance out against the savings as they can't possibly provide the ventilation that so many would need. .
However many kids have 40yo parents -some with health issues.
Some tough choices will need to be made of removing care for the old to provide it for the young.
And the lack of care is likely why the rate of death was higher in Wuhan.

WHO is holding a press conference on coronavirus. Watch live: t.co/jPqHTt2iEt

Number12 · 03/03/2020 16:00

Thank you I did check there but rushed and missed it!!

mammon · 03/03/2020 16:01

Sorry, I should have checked the facts regarding the Datchet case. Suspected as of now. The surgery has closed. She was taken away in an ambulance by medics in hazmat suits. Story on FB by 3 different people and one source on twitter. People who were at the surgery at the time have rang 111 for guidance but obviously told not to be concerned unless a positive result comes back.

Sorry for the confusion.

LarkDescending · 03/03/2020 16:03

Today's cases are all travel-related:

8 from Italy
1 from Germany
1 from Japan
1 from Iran

Currently in: London, Hampshire, Northamptonshire, Bury, Wirral, Greater Manchester, Humberside and Kent.

LarkDescending · 03/03/2020 16:05

*& 1 from Singapore

Glittercandle · 03/03/2020 16:06

I saw a family of three shopping together in Asda today - one was wearing a face mask with a vent, another a disposable surgical face mask and the third nothing. Assuming they all live together it seemed pointless especially as the surgical mask is more likely to harbour germs if worn for a while!

Awkward1 · 03/03/2020 16:09

Meant to say it's a case of all in it together.
Around the world and within schools etc. There is so little point curtailing what my kids do if
-their classmates go to London by tube to watch football
-they still go to italy/China now
-or if as is likely they have parents who -work in a city/care home/hospital

There will be large events and Easter holidays.

Blueberryham · 03/03/2020 16:13

Yes this is what I was thinking. Not point in us stopping activities if all classmates are carrying on as normal

Blueberryham · 03/03/2020 16:14

The Easter hols will result in a lot of mixing of germs around the world !

amz12 · 03/03/2020 16:15

1st case in Sweden has recovered: a 20 year-old woman who had tested positive to the virus on Jan. 31 after returning home from Wuhan in China on Jan. 24.

SisterAgatha · 03/03/2020 16:15

No more Essex or Harlow ones! That is brilliant news! I might celebrate with a heavily hand sanitised trip to the cinema Grin

SisterAgatha · 03/03/2020 16:15

Essex or Herts*

ofwarren · 03/03/2020 16:16

WHO on the falling number of cases in China: "We questioned these numbers while we were in China, we scrutinized this data, and we believe that this decline is real."

Thetigeronthewobbelboard · 03/03/2020 16:19

@LarkDescending any more info. On where the Hampshire on is? I imagine round here as we are close to the Surrey/West Sussex border. 🤦‍♀️

middleager · 03/03/2020 16:20

Thanks Max
A sobering, calm letter.
My boss is shrugging this off as are most of my colleagues.
There is no contingency plan.

Ofwarren prey the decline there is real.

tryingtoprep · 03/03/2020 16:21

Many otherwise young and fit people have health conditions. Most work full-time and lead active productive full lives. Some are HCPs.

There doesn't need to be very drastic measures to mitigate the spread. If nothing else, we don't want to see the NHS overwhelmed.

It wouldn't harm the economy if people who could, worked from home. Many can't but plenty can - but have reluctant employers. We need to utilise technology. Working from home, virtual meetings whenever possible.

We're apparently the fifth largest economy in the world? Can't we afford to set-up a crisis loan or grant to those on zero hours or self-employed who need to self-isolate?

WhatKatyDidNot · 03/03/2020 16:23

I saw a family of three shopping together in Asda today - one was wearing a face mask with a vent, another a disposable surgical face mask and the third nothing.

Deary me.

LarkDescending · 03/03/2020 16:25

They aren't releasing more specific information on locations - probably to avoid local panic and/or harassment of patients and their families.

RandomlyChosenName · 03/03/2020 16:28

Thetigeronthewobbelboard
I was thinking that too, but all the new cases are caught abroad, so no direct transmission. Therefore could be anywhere in Hampshire.

M0reGinPlease · 03/03/2020 16:30

Why are we not restricting travel?

My in-laws have just jetted off skiing for a week in Italy! It's just so selfish!
