House of Commons Live

Self isolating counts as illness for SSP and benefit claimants

All info today applies to all areas of the UK

zero hours contracts - what will recompense be?

SSP will be applicable

LittleSwede · 03/03/2020 13:57

ofwarren has been keeping us up to date with new cases on this thread and another CV one Smile

Random18 · 03/03/2020 13:59

I was going to buy handgel and if I see some then I may buy a couple.
BUT I am not in an at risk group, DH isn't and neither are the children.

So whilst I will be careful and follow recommendations I am not going to panic buy hand gel.

I'll leave it for those it may benefit more.

And i have no intentions of getting any masks.

ellaandthebella · 03/03/2020 14:00

As of 3 March, a total of 13,911 people have been tested in the UK, of which 13,860 were confirmed negative. 51 were confirmed as positive.

HairyFloppins · 03/03/2020 14:00

My DD works for Home Bargains. They have not been given hand gel they have to buy their own and keep it by the till. The shop hasn't had any in for a while. Fortunately I have been buying hand gel since I started reading about this virus in January.

ghostlycurtains · 03/03/2020 14:01

The world we knew it’s gone now forever.*

What??

justchecking1 · 03/03/2020 14:01

As of 3 March, a total of 13,911 people have been tested in the UK, of which 13,860 were confirmed negative. 51 were confirmed as positive.

So they swabbed 386 people and found 12 positives. That's a pretty good hit rate

Random18 · 03/03/2020 14:02

And hand gel gives me really dry hands.

Would cracked skin not be an issue?

Hugglespuffed · 03/03/2020 14:02

Yes we love @ofwarren
These threads move incredibly fast and you have been amazing as I can sometimes skim read pages and look for your posts. Thanks for taking the time.

At least that HoC session allowed some proper questions to be asked at some depth. I reckon they have a lot of advice about people's behaviour in a crisis and they are timing the release of information at the rate that most people will swallow it.

I'm beginning to like the weather on the news now. The only bit where there's no need to talk about the virus. And no big storms on their way.

SistemaAddict · 03/03/2020 14:03

I need to catch up. 11 new cases since yesterday?

Fourducksate · 03/03/2020 14:04

Bed capacity will be ramped up. Funding has been given to trusts.

? Treatments and therapy’s online, the Gov will be working with social media companies to stop these fake medicines.

Advice to elderly and movements as more at risk and avoid large groups ?

Gov is advised re science and there are downsides to stopping these events if done too soon.

Guidance for diabetics and vulnerable!?
Additional advice will be out in due course, guided by science.

What about those who don’t get SSP?

Under review and sick pay is robust. (actually that’s rubbish, as I don’t get sick pay on zero hours!)

Now their moaning about toilets and hand sanitizer in the HoC!!!!

ofwarren · 03/03/2020 14:05

32 cases of #coronavirus have been confirmed positive in #Norway- In total.

Skyejuly · 03/03/2020 14:05
