Tbh I think the medical officers are doing well in the announcement. They're providing good details and facts.

SistemaAddict · 03/03/2020 11:02

BJ is looking very nervous and shifty. His body language is saying he's no fucking idea and just wants everyone to stop asking questions.

LarkDescending · 03/03/2020 11:03

Apparently most of the country haven’t grasped the “wash your hands” message.

KenAdams · 03/03/2020 11:04

I'm fuming about Hancocks handshaking message. We have an event on tomorrow and I wanted to put signs up about avoiding handshaking but we have to follow government advice as we're public sector.

screamer1 · 03/03/2020 11:06

Isn't Boris's thing that he never has a clue though? And them at he just defers to experts. Case in point, today's announcement.

Originalyellowbelly · 03/03/2020 11:06

So they had a Cobra meeting and all they come up with is wash your hands.

BiBiBirdie · 03/03/2020 11:07

Cannot actually believe that the expert at this press conference is going on about trying to get the virus to hit in May instead as it's better for the NHS (so basically admitting that the NHS is screwed). It's a bloody new virus with no known cure or pattern, it will hit when it hits.
What they going to do, ask it bloody nicely?

I'm so fucked off.
I've told DP we will have no choice but to cancel the Wedding, we have insurance and it's not worth the risk.

hankyspanky · 03/03/2020 11:09

Amazing how long he can waffle on saying absolutely nothing of any substance.......

Confidence in this government below zero.

gladysinthepicture · 03/03/2020 11:10

so I missed nothing then!

the "nothing to see here" goes on lol

well looking back very glad we made the descision to home ed ds when we did last september. reccomend the cgp books.

Dusty01 · 03/03/2020 11:11

Boris looks like a making it up as I go along clown in between two grown ups who can frame thoughts and string words together.

Italy reports drop in new coronavirus cases

Italy has reported its first dip in new cases from the coronavirus outbreak.

On Monday, Italian authorities said there were 258 new cases of the virus - a 16% increase on the previous day.

The head of Italy's Civil Protection Authority, Angelo Borrelli, said the figure was "comforting" after new cases spiked by 50% on Sunday.

Monday's increase brings the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 1,835. Of those, 52 have died and 149 have recovered.

Blueberryham · 03/03/2020 11:12

So what was the answer to schools closing? Was it that they are now selling the affects and haven’t yet decided if it’s worth it? So schools could still have a blanket closure?

Jrobhatch29 · 03/03/2020 11:12

Im going to be having my baby during the peak arent I? Sad due in may

Blueberryham · 03/03/2020 11:13

*modelling not now selling

Dusty01 · 03/03/2020 11:13

I don't think he actually has a brain. I feel dreadful saying that. I wouldn't say that about anyone else. It's fine for people to not have brains - but not fine if they are prime minister.

CrunchyCarrot · 03/03/2020 11:13

Tbh I think the medical officers are doing well in the announcement. They're providing good details and facts.

Agree, at least they're giving us some kind of scientific outline of the possibilities.

FourTeaFallOut · 03/03/2020 11:13

Haven't the Italians stopped including those who are positive for coronavirus but who don't have symptoms?

Blueberryham · 03/03/2020 11:15

The jist of what they are saying is that the virus is coming and we need to deal with it? They don’t seem to think they could still eradicate it - eg stopping flights from affected areas

CrunchyCarrot · 03/03/2020 11:16

Re 'panic buying', advice is not to do that, or to keep large supplies. But then again, if there's a household quarantine (if necessary) then supplies will be needed. They don't want us to be afraid of coming to their front door.

They've looked at behavioural science, and mentioned displays of altruism that occur in such situations (giving us a positive there).

CrunchyCarrot · 03/03/2020 11:16

*coming to OUR front door.

IneptBuffoon · 03/03/2020 11:17

Too late for stopping any flights, should have been done weeks ago, tbh

SistemaAddict · 03/03/2020 11:18

Yep, it's stiff upper lip time and "fighting it on the beaches" as that embarrassment from
The Fail said in his question Confused

OldQueen1969 · 03/03/2020 11:18

The overall feeling I'm getting is sort of panic but don't panic......

The time frames seem quite specific for something new and unpredictable but I suppose we have to have faith in the researchers and scientists at the front line.....

It is beginning to feel a bit like 1984 with a perpetual threat governing everything but being broadly invisible to the average Jo.....

Random18 · 03/03/2020 11:20

I am only listening to the conference, not watching so can't comment on body language.

But I think the conference is going well and the 2 experts are doing a very good job.

Whether I like BJ or not (and hes not mu favourite) I think this is exactly what is needed
