Thank you, I feel genuinely sick to the pit of my stomach. I can't believe that no-one in the USA has the power/is willing to remove him at this point.

How can anyone of sound mind say in the same thought "god bless the great people of iran" whilst simultaneously threatening to kill a whole civilisation.

And yet people still bleat on about Iran's human rights record as if it justifies this madman threatening to murder swathes of Iranians for his own ego / Hegseth's crusade.

Shame on anyone who was supporting this war on behalf of Iranian people. Shame on anyone who tried to peddle the lie that this was about liberating Iranians. Shame on anyone who wasn't outspoken about the depravity of US/Israeli actions in this war. If there is a bloodbath tonight, you are all partly responsible for tacitly supporting this band of deranged pirates murder and loot a nation.

I'm so incredibly upset. I honestly don't put it past them to use a nuclear bomb - Hegseth's removal of top tier US generals has been deeply concerning. God knows what the fuck they are planning for tonight.

And no, this isn't the regime's fault for not surrendering - the USA removed Mossadegh in 1953 for the sheer audacity of wanting to nationalise Iran's own oil. They then removed the Shah in 1979 for also prioritising Iran's own national interests. The USA helped put these Mullahs in charge. And now they're coming in to blow them up? For fuck's sake see the fucking pattern - it has never been about liberating PEOPLE, it has always been about USA's puppeteering and GREED. They are threatened by any power that they can't control, even when it isn't actively threatening them (Mossadegh and the last Shah's removals prove this isn't just about the current regime). Why should the Mullahs surrender to a bunch of pirates? What happened to the concept of sovereignty?

So if Trump does follow through with widescale death of civilians, don't you dare place the blame of Trump's actions on the regime. Put the blame where it fucking belongs, on Trump and the USA government.

Edited

@AgingLikeGazpacho excellent post
I have learned a lot from you over the past couple of days. I also hope your friends and family in Iran stay safe ❤️

@AgingLikeGazpacho

Very powerful post. Thank you. My thoughts are with the Iranian peoples.

I live in a regime country that is very often the target of this sort of extreme rhetoric. Not from the US President though. When I hear the " bomb them all brigade", I think of DD. 13. who goes to a "Regime" school, and I think how these folk would make excuses if it were her School that was bombed. How they would call for more bombing, to punish the "evil regime". But it's not up to them. That's for my DD and her generation. And all the other generations who will outlive the current authoritarians in power. And hopefully they will all manage to change things to how they want. Not have a near alien culture bomb their country into what someone else thinks it should be.

My DD will be getting a bit of a tighter hug before bed tonight.

Best wishes to you, and the people if Iran.

Thank you Red, I've found your posts comforting over the past few days, knowing that I am not alone in my perspective and that other people can also see how concepts like human rights can be used as a weapon by western powers to make their military actions more palatable to their citizens. The cognitive dissonance is breathtaking.

I hope they weren't coerced into this action, because it did make my heart swell with pride seeing them standing defiantly together

I hope they remain safe

I don't blame them. Because what choice do have. See their country destroyed by a madman, or try to keep going as they are. If Trump is stopped things can stay the same, get better, or worse. If Trump is not stopped, things can only get horrendously worse.

I read earlier today that young people were asked to do this by the regime.

I also hope they weren’t coerced into it in any way.

Iran are committing war crimes in all probability.

So are Israel and the US which is why I said “this is true whoever commits them”.

Any country blowing up civilian infrastructure is likely committing war crimes but legally speaking that’s not for armchair analysts on MN to determine. Because there are grey areas so ultimately courts will decide though we all have opinions.

Synagogue hit in central Tehran, Trump threatening to wipe out an entire civilisation...

Trump and his side kick Netanyahu are criminals, thugs, outside of international law.

Much like Gaza, this is a very very one sided "war" to draw an equivalence is quite frankly shocking.

Pacificsunshine · 07/04/2026 17:21

I would assume that they were coerced. And if not obvious coercion, certainly manipulation. How can a child make that choice independently? they are too young to understand the consequences.

Iran has a long history of treating its children as expendable in war. Child soldiers, child suicide mine sweepers, etc.

Just because Trump is bad, it doesn’t mean the IRCG is good.

Why assume this?

A Iranian woman on Sky now crying at the potential destruction of her country, they may well hate the Regime and the IRGC but they don't want their history, their infrastructure turned to dust.

The source I read just said "young people."

Edited to say, children are mentioned in the source which is the Independent.

Well that’s a very big assumption! Why would you think that Iranians don’t care if their Country is completely destroyed? Why would you think they would be happy for all their essential infrastructure and precious historical buildings to be razed to the ground? Is it incomprehensible that they might actually care about that infrastructure?

Twiglets1 · 07/04/2026 17:35

I found the source @EasternStandard it was the Independent:

Iran tells young people to make human chains around power plants ahead of Trump’s deadline

Iran called on “all young people, athletes, artists, students and university students and their professors” to form human chains around power plants ahead of the threatened strikes.

Alireza Rahimi, identified by Iranian state television as the secretary of the Supreme Council of Youth and Adolescents, issued a video call, saying: “Power plants that are our national assets and capital, regardless of any taste or political viewpoint, belong to the future of Iran and to the Iranian youth.”

Iran has previously used human chains around its nuclear sites during periods of heightened tensions with Western nations.

Later, a Revolutionary Guard general urged parents to send their children to man checkpoints, which have been repeatedly targeted in airstrikes.

We know the IRCG are a horrific regime, that doesn't mean that the Iranian people deserve to be sent back to the stone age or have their civilization erased.

Yes, I definitely read that. How strange.

We weren't the only ones to notice, TPF. They still skirt over the part where Radin said he'd be OK with nuclear weapons being used.

It is very suspect.

For anyone curious, this is the vanishing paragraph:

They made it clear that this was 'Radin's' personal opnion, not sure why they removed it.

The fact that he feels like that is the most upsetting

I would speculate keen eyed researchers. Check their archives to see if the fellas name appears in Iranian State Media. If it does, possible regime plant. Information and disinformation.

greengagejamandcrumpets · 08/04/2026 03:13

Things have moved on a bit since these posts ^.

Iran is now firing missiles at Israel.

This was after Pakistan said a ceasefire had been agreed and shipping was to be allowed through the Straits for a fortnight.

It's very difficult to know what to believe but I have seen live footage released by Israel of the Iron Dome in operation, intercepting missiles.

This is an unprovoked attack and I can't see Israel taking this lying down...

In fairness to the IRGC ( never thought I would say those words) they did warn that it would take time for the message of the ceasefire to reach everyone in their organisation.

I hope this is the case and that all attacks stop within a few hours.
